The "Blue Room" offers a peaceful setting in an artists home in Central Tucson. Wifi, indoor and outdoor kitchen, garden, easy access to University, shared bath, cafes around the block, 15 minutes from downtown. For Women only.
Coming for the Gem Show, or a snowbird escaping the cold? The "blue room" is fully furnished with desk and linen in an older house in central Tucson for WOMEN only.
We also have a cute private Airstream trailor in the back that offers privacy (please see our guesthouse trailer listing).
The University of Arizona is just 15 minutes away with easy access to buses. Around the corner is a friendlyl WIFI Cafe, a Mexican Bistro, a Polish restaurant, American breakfast cafe, bakery, Mongolian (email hidden), and of course a convenience store. Buses to downtown are half a block away, and beautiful Sabino Canyon is 20 minutes drive away. Shared bath, and a dining area as well as patio for additional dining (there is also an outside kitchen!). Full kitchen in the house, wifi internet. Please smoke outside if you're a smoker. There are 2 indoor cats (Lulu and Lucy), and they are very friendly. There is also an outdoor kitchen, complete with barbeque! Sometimes we enjoy doing breakfast, but coffee and tea is always available.
I have a big yard on a quiet street - but, this is central Tucson. There are the occasional sounds of dogs, traffic, sometimes the sounds of children playing. If you smoke you MUST smoke outside. I have a washing machine for guests use, but not a dryer - just the "solar system", but if you require a laundromat, there is one nearby.
I'm an artist with a 40 year career, and my work is to be found throughout my house. I'm very interested in sustainability and green technology, and I love to garden. I'm a vegetarian (although you don't need to be), and I enjoy meeting interesting people.
I require a profile from guests, and will not rent to people who won't tell me something about themselves. We also cannot accept same day reservations, and prefer that reservations be made at least 2 days in advance.
Tucson is a great place in the winter, and beautiful at any time of the year!
Interaction with Guests
Friendliness and courtesy are very important, as well as respect for privacy. But it's always may hope that friendships are formed when guests come to stay!
I'm on a quiet street, but convenient - one of the cities main streets is just around the corner, with cafes, restaurants, bus stop, convenience store, etc. Not far away also is Reid Park, the biggest park in Tucson, which offers biking trails, a pool, even the Zoo.
Buses are available nearby to downtown and the University.
If you smoke please smoke outside on the patio. Help yourself to coffee and tea at any time. Lulu and Lucy are indoor cats, so please be careful not to let them outside - they just aren't ready for the "great outdoors" yet!
It was a pleasure staying in Lauren's home. It was clean and comfortable, and she is a lovely hostess.
The listing was just as described and Lauren was a great host. I felt very welcome and at ease to make myself at home. I was heading out on a cold rainy day and Lauren caught up with me to offer me her umbrella which was very sweet. Her cats Lucy and Lulu are the friendliest and cutest cats I've met.
Lauren’s place was my first airbnb experience and it was a positive one. I shared her house with a few other women and over the week we became very friendly sharing stories and a glass of wine around the dining room table. I did not rent a car and the location proved to be fantastic. There is good bus service, bicycle routes and eateries within easy walking distance. I have a feeling that I will be back to Tucson and when I do I will definitely stay here again.
Everything about Lauren is one big welcome. I have been there before, and each time is like coming home. I would not be anywhere else in Tucson if I can help it, but her place. It is a simple lovely place with al lovely little garden with two magical cats. It is a joy to be with Lauren.
Lauren was a very gracious host! Very accommodating and helpful! He room was just as promised and everything was true to her word.
Thank You Lauren!
Lauren's place was so much better than the described Lauren was a wonderfully accomodating host and her rooms were so comfortable. I had the pleasure of staying in the green room (very relaxing) then she let me move to the Airstream (so cozy) it meant a lot to me . The whole property was very inviting and the kitties so friendly. I specially enjoyed the moon garden as I visited during the full moon and the outdoor spaces made me feel right at home . Great location. Lots of things to do close by. I hope to be back in the near future.
I will very much miss everything of Lauren's House, especially the spectacular garden. It is a beautiful house, in a very quiet neighborhood. Lauren, Lucy and Lulu are wonderful. Lucy and Lulu definitely know how to be loved. Lauren is a great host. She is a very interesting person and will do everything she can to make your stay comfortable. There is always coffee in the morning, if you are interested Lauren has great suggestions on movies or books or places to visit. I am very grateful she opened her house to me. It's a time I'll remember with a smile on my face :)

I'm a professional artist specializing in masks and community arts. I'm 63, love conversation and creativity. I'm a vegetarian, concerned with the environment, and have traveled internationally. I had so many good experiences with B&B's in the British Isles and Europe, where it is very traditional for families to open their homes, that I decided to try it myself. I had the same good experiences when I travelled in Indonesia, and stayed at "home stays".
Because there's a great wifi cafe around the corner, I no longer cook breakfast, but I do enjoy creating a bright, colorful, serene space for the women who come to visit, and am always happy to share what I know about Tucson and the Southwest. I love Arizona, especially its warm, sunny winters.
Renovating the 1962 Airstream trailor in the back yard, and creating a patio for it, has been my latest "art project"..........I love making things old new and inviting.
