A peaceful room for in an artists house in central Tucson for women. Includes Wifi, gardens, patio. Near restaurants, cafe, 15 minutes to University and downtown, 3 hospitals nearby, friendly cats, a winter veggie garden, quiet and friendly home. Shared bathroom. Weekly and long term rates (stays over 30 days are not taxed).

The space

I'm an artist with a 40 year career, and my work is found throughout my house, a personal gallery. I always enjoy when fellow Creatives "join the conversation" that all art really is. I applaud diversity, and I'm very interested in green technology - the household uses water recycling in the gardens, and in the winter a vegetable garden is available to guests. I'm a vegetarian (although you don't need to be). Please provide a profile or tell me something about yourself. Generally I cannot accept same day reservations.

The University of Arizona is just 15 minutes away with easy access to buses. Three major hospitals are 15 minutes away if you are a visiting nurse or intern. Around the corner is a friendly WIFI Cafe, a Mexican Bistro, a Polish restaurant, a health food Chinese restaurant, American breakfast cafe, bakery, a Tiki bar, and of course a convenience store. Sprouts market is 10 minutes away. Buses to downtown are a block away, and beautiful Sabino Canyon is 20 minutes drive.

Please smoke outside in smoking areas if you're a smoker. There are 2 indoor cats (Lulu and Lucy), and they are very friendly. Coffee and tea is always available. I have a big yard on a quiet street, but this is central Tucson and not pristine desert. There are the sounds of dogs, traffic, sometimes the sounds of children playing.

Guest access

There is a shared bathroom, and a shared kitchen - there is also an outside kitchen and dining area. There is wifi, and dvd players, with access to a large movie collection. Also a "moon garden" and other garden areas.

Interaction with guests

Friendliness and courtesy are very important, as well as respect for privacy.

Other things to note

My home and garden are also a gallery of my work, and other artists. I also have a studio/workshop on the property where I teach classes.

Lauren's place is very well located: Close to public transit and essential commerce. As a lifelong artist, Lauren is able to create a relaxing and creative atmosphere in her gardens and lodging areas. The environment is safe and welcoming. I would recommend any of Lauren's listings. I was at Lauren's place for a few months to finish my dissertation. The place was quiet and had everything I needed. For those who are interested in some art lessons while visiting Tucson, this is the place to. come.

It was so lovely and informative talking with Lauren about her artwork and experiences. Only wish my stay hadn't been so short. The garden is just lovely and I hope to be able to linger more in it on my next trip to Tucson. The room is very inviting and I felt at ease during my stay.

I'm a professional artist specializing in masks and community arts. I'm 63, love conversation and creativity. I'm a vegetarian, concerned with the environment, and have traveled internationally. I had so many good experiences with B&B's in the British Isles and Europe, where it is very traditional for families to open their homes, that I decided to try it myself. I had the same good experiences when I travelled in Indonesia, and stayed at "home stays".

Because there's a great wifi cafe around the corner, I no longer cook breakfast, but I do enjoy creating a bright, colorful, serene space for the women who come to visit, and am always happy to share what I know about Tucson and the Southwest. I love Arizona, especially its warm, sunny winters.

Renovating the 1962 Airstream trailor in the back yard, and creating a patio for it, has been my latest "art project"..........I love making things old new and inviting.
