About this listing
Clean and light 50s raised ranch in quiet neighborhood close to downtown. Tucked into the slope rising up to a high point in the city, there is a series of outdoor steps leading up to the front door. All living areas are on one floor.
Perfect for 1 or 2 or 3, the west end of the main floor has its own hall accessing the two bedrooms each with a firm double bed and a bath for your exclusive use. The main entry and shared rooms are located between the guest suite and our owner suite.
Living/dining room, library, kitchen and back deck (with cold season hot tub!) are all available for shared use. You may come and go as you please without concern for our schedule.
Interaction with Guests
Your privacy is important to us. We're here during your stay and available to help you get the most out of your visit (we love AA!) ... all you need to do is ask.
Our home is located amongst the old oaks in the Upper Water Hill neighborhood, about a mile from downtown. While a small hill by most standards, the downhill walk to Main Street is about a 100 feet elevation drop and a healthy uphill walk back.
There is plenty of street parking if you arrive by car or need a car to get to your planned activities.
It's a pleasant mile walk through the modest Water Hill neighborhood to Kerrytown/Zingerman's, the Main Street restaurant scene and the river path & trails. About another mile takes you through the heart of downtown to UM central campus or Medical Center or Michigan Stadium.
Close to 4 bus routes -- #13 Newport, #12A & #12B Miller/Liberty, #18 Miller/University.
About a mile from Amtrak station, AirRide from DTW, and bus station ... we'd be happy to pick you up if you come to town through any of these stations.
Other Things to Note
While it's easy to bring a car, our location is ideal for those who enjoy walking as exercise and as a great way to get to know the community you're visiting.
To lighten your travel load, the suite includes a hair dryer, soaps, shampoo and extra towels. There's lots of hanging space in the closets.
Much like every other reviews, I can't say enough good things about our stay with Bonnie and Dave. The space was great, quiet, clean, well-equipped. The hosts were helpful and friendly, both accessible and respectful of our privacy. They even provided breakfast essentials such as coffee (!), toast and fruit. I would absolutely stay here again.
Bonnie and Dave set a high bar for any future host. They were super friendly and accommodating. I would absolutely rent from them again.
Overall, just a wonderful stay as others have noted ! Only wish we'd had more time to talk to Bonnie, our wonderful host, but we were busy at family reunion. Definitely recommend without any reservations !
Staying at Bonnie and Dave's home was a such a great experience! Bonnie instantly made it feel as if I were at my own home. Being an architect myself, I was very impressed with the layout and functionality. In the morning I had a cup of coffee and bowl of cereal outside on their private deck and had a great conversation with Bonnie as we talked about our shared interests. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a place to stay in Ann Arbor to see if this is available, I would definitely stay again!
This was our second stay with Bonnie & Dave, so there's not much to say other than what our previous review (and the 71 others to this point) have said. It's just a very, very comfortable, relaxing, and interesting place to stay. It was great to spend time hanging out with Bonnie, and enjoying the back yard, the neighborhood, and A² in general.
This is a lovely place to stay.
Description is very accurate.
Delightful host. Very quiet.
We hope to stay again next summer.
Bonnie and Dave are wonderful hosts. They have a gracious way of making you feel welcome from the time your reservation is accepted and throughout your stay. Their home is situated in a nice quiet family neighborhood that is about a mile from town. There are a lot of little things that quickly start to add up that make these hosts and their home special. As one might expect from folks with architectural expertise, they have a flare for clean and appealing designs. There are lots of decorative and artistic choices that are both visually and personally interesting. Everything works here to provide a peaceful ambience along with comfortable places to sit, rest, and feel good about your visit. I recommend these two great hosts in Ann Arbor to others and will be sure to check their Airbnb availability the next time I visit Ann Arbor.

About the Host, Bonnie And Dave
Architect, walker/hiker (love cities & love the woods), prefer local restaurants including diners, trying to help save the planet.
We started sharing the extra rooms in our home because it seemed wasteful not to. Now we look forward to meeting each new guest and welcoming back returning guests. All have proven interesting to meet, easy to accommodate, charming and respectful ... who would have thought it would be gratifying to be a host.
