Clean and light 50s raised ranch in quiet neighborhood close to downtown. Tucked into the slope rising up to a high point in the city, there is a series of outdoor steps leading up to the front door. All living areas are on one floor.
Perfect for 1 or 2 or 3, the west end of the main floor has its own hall accessing the two bedrooms each with a firm double bed and a bath for your exclusive use. The main entry and shared rooms are located between the guest suite and our owner suite.
Living/dining room, library, kitchen and back deck (with cold season hot tub!) are all available for shared use. You may come and go as you please without concern for our schedule.
Interaction with Guests
Your privacy is important to us. We're here during your stay and available to help you get the most out of your visit (we love AA!) ... all you need to do is ask.
Our home is located amongst the old oaks in the Upper Water Hill neighborhood, about a mile from downtown. While a small hill by most standards, the downhill walk to Main Street is about a 100 feet elevation drop and a healthy uphill walk back.
There is plenty of street parking if you arrive by car or need a car to get to your planned activities.
It's a pleasant mile walk through the modest Water Hill neighborhood to Kerrytown/Zingerman's, the Main Street restaurant scene and the river path & trails. About another mile takes you through the heart of downtown to UM central campus or Medical Center or Michigan Stadium.
Close to 4 bus routes -- #13 Newport, #12A & #12B Miller/Liberty, #18 Miller/University.
About a mile from Amtrak station, AirRide from DTW, and bus station ... we'd be happy to pick you up if you come to town through any of these stations.
Other Things to Note
While it's easy to bring a car, our location is ideal for those who enjoy walking as exercise and as a great way to get to know the community you're visiting.
To lighten your travel load, the suite includes a hair dryer, soaps, shampoo and extra towels. There's lots of hanging space in the closets.
We had a wonderful stay with Bonnie and Dave for a long family weekend event in Ann Arbor. The house is set up perfectly for air bnb guests, very stylish and Bonnie and Dave were fantastic hosts. The 2 bedrooms both had full size beds with a large living room area and the shared kitchen. Just like the floor plan on the website. We were offered a blow up mattress and an additional room/study for additional family members who might need a place to stay. We did not use it but it was nice to know we had the option. Very flexible hosts, great communication. The breakfast granola was amazing, and make sure you find time to check out the jacuzzi!
Bonnie was a fantastic host! Very welcoming. Dave was gone but I remember him vividly from our visit last year and he too was a warm and friendly presence. The house is tranquil and calm. Two bedrooms make it quite nice for a father and daughter traveling to check out the University of Michigan to maintain privacy. There is a bathroom that is clean and fine. Terrific soaps and shampoos are provided along with big towels. Did I mention the hot tub? Terrific! And Bonnie's banana bread that she baked fresh the evening we arrived was wonderful as a late night snack and as a breakfast loaf. The neighborhood is just minutes from downtown Ann Arbor and Bonnie gave easy to follow driving directions. If my kid does wind up going to UMich I will no doubt be spending time with Bonnie and Dave (if there's room at the Inn that is!)
My second stay at Bonnie and Dave's was great again. They were out of town, but they had organized everything perfectly, and we were taken care of by a friend of theirs. I missed them, as they are such wonderful hosts, but I know I will come back again. :-)
We were very happy staying at Bonnie and Dave's--it was very special to be in our own wing, so we could spread out and not feel intrusive. The room was very comfortable, coming and going were made so easy, and we were made to feel very much at home.
This was a fantastic place to stay, with some of the most welcoming hosts I have stayed with! The house is lovely, in a nice residential area about a mile from downtown. The space has two rooms, but I only stayed in one, but it was quiet, private, with a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom, and cool, modern decor.
But mostly, I want to highlight how awesome it was to stay with Bonnie and Dave! They gave me great recommendations of places to explore in Ann Arbor, invited me to a happy hour with friends, and certainly respected my privacy whenever I was at home. They even gave me a ride to my interview at U of M early Friday morning, and to the airport on Saturday when my other travel plans fell through last minute!
I can't say enough positive about this experience, and I encourage anyone considering a trip to Ann Arbor to stay here!
I had a wonderful brief stay with Bonnie and Dave. Their home is beautiful and in a quiet location near a bus line. I especially appreciated the morning granola and tea. I didn't get the chance to meet Bonnie, but Dave was very welcoming and helpful.
For my first AirBNB experience, Bonnie has set the bar very high! Can't thank her and Dave enough for their hospitality. Although we were there for only a short time Bonnie was an exceptional host.
The house is a very nice house and to have half it was a treat. Very clean. Large bedrooms and comfy beds and a great living area. It's great value for money.
Bonnie was full of helpful advice about getting around town and where to go and what to see. We were in town to see the UofM football game. It's a pleasant walk through downtown and onto the stadium.
Hope to one day return and perhaps extend the stay next time.

We started sharing the extra rooms in our home because it seemed wasteful not to. Now we look forward to meeting each new guest and welcoming back returning guests. All have proven interesting to meet, easy to accommodate, charming and respectful ... who would have thought it would be gratifying to be a host.
