This property is an amazing old coffee plantation from the 50's on 11 acres of tropical land with 180 degree breathtaking ocean views.
You will be renting one of three houses on this property. The main part of this house has one bedroom, which sleeps 2, with an additional queen sized sofa bed in the living room. There is one bathroom in the main house, a full kitchen, dining room and an amazing porch to enjoy the views. Downstairs, included in your rental, is a basement apartment with one bedroom that has two double beds, an additional bathroom, and kitchen area. One of the other houses on the property is an empty family home. I live in the third home on the property, as the caretaker of my families estate. Even though there are multiple houses on the property you still have a sense of privacy and solitude.
This property is located 1,000ft up on on the slopes of Hualalai about 10min south of Kailua-Kona. We are about one and a half miles from the artist town of Holualoa, which has art galleries, restaurants and shops. Also in this neighborhood are multiple coffee plantations often with free tours and coffee tastings. There are many beaches and snorkeling areas to explore within 20min from the house while you still have all the conveniences of being close to the shops, grocery stores, restaurants and night life of Kailua-Kona!
This is the perfect place to get away from it all!

I loved staying at this hideaway up on the hill with all the plants, birds and the nice deck with views down to the ocean off the back of the house.
The kitchen was well equipped and very convenient to use. The living room area had windows all around for more nice views in such a pleasant setting.
We really felt at home here and were glad we were able stay. It seemed so much better than middle of the touristy areas to us. We didn't use the downstairs at all since there were only two of us, but the upstairs was the perfect space for two people--a good amount of space and comfortable but didn't feel like too much. I think this space would work great for different sized groups.
The house was in good shape and Nick, Lolly and Kristen were great to meet and we appreciated their hospitality and such a good place to stay.
We also appreciated the little touch with the bottle of champagne for our honeymoon.
Our family felt very honored and special to enjoy Nick's family home and lovely gardens. We were instantly relaxed in the pleasant atmosphere. Our other kids and grandkids stayed at additional lodging a few houses down the street and the arrangement was ideal to have two homes close to each other with hosts that are long time friends. The views were a bonus for our delight.
Nick was a great host! He showed us around, let us pick mac nuts and fruit on his property, and was very responsive to all our questions. Would definitely stay with him again!
The perfect location for R&R and for discovering the Kona Coast from top to bottom. The full kitchen was much appreciated, since it was our 3d time on the island and we wanted to cook ourselves and eat with a view. And the view is WOW, any time of the day. We felt so much at home here that it was hard to leave. Heartfelt thanks to Nick and Lolly for everything! Hope to visit again next year.
The view is more gorgeous in actuality than the fotos! Nick very friendly and accessible. House condition is as good as it gets for sth. built in the 1950s.
What a magical way to spend a vacation! We travel on a budget and our week at this property was affordable, unfussy and sublime, from cooking and relaxing in the comfortable mid-century modern home to indulging in cocktails on the deck with its sweeping ocean views to exploring the plantation's horticulture and birds. We loved every minute so much we rarely left! Nick and his mom, Lolly, were really helpful working with our reservation and once we were in Holualoa, Nick and Kristin were generous, kind and friendly hosts (and Kristin's a great massage therapist!). They made useful and appreciated suggestions for day trips and local eateries. We can't wait to return!
What a wonderful place to stay. A comfortable, spacious, yet cozy home with a million dollar view. The grounds are otherworedly-huge, beautiful trees, and thriving gardens. Very private and away from the noise and crowds of downtown. Cool evening breezes make for a very good sleep. Close to everything the area has to offer, but so lovely that you won't want to leave! Nick is very warm and relaxed and his dogs and cat that are on the grounds stole my heart. Try and get up to enjoy the spectacular sunrises. We were sad to leave this gem!
Nick is a great host, and the property itself is amazing. Highly recommended. Beautiful views, great plants and birds on the property, and the house itself was very clean and charming.
We throughly enjoyed our time spent up in Holualoa (Kona) and the rich family history of Nick's property. It is a great home with a million dollar view, beautiful grounds loaded with fruit trees, and comforting country atmosphere away from the bustle and tourism of town. It also makes for an ideal place to work from -- being able to sit at the table looking over the coast and enjoying meals together on the deck during sunset is what living in Kona is all about. Nick is a gracious host and very responsive. True Aloha spirit!
We spent two wonderful weeks at Nick's house. He was a great host, very friendly and helpful.
The house itself had a lot of charm, was really comfortable and spacious with an amazing view. The surrounding garden is a tropical paradise with enormous trees and amazing plants.
The perfect spot for a relaxed vacation.
