The cabin was built with dedication and love, with a hermit hut concept in mind, in 2015 for spending time in the nature. It is best used by one person, but can accommodate two. Ideal for meditation, quiet time and good sleep. The space is just 6,5 sq meters and has an outdoor dry toilet next to it. It´ a great place to sleep comfortably in the middle of nature. A peaceful and healing atmosphere suited for solitary retreats.

The space
It´s a small space in the middle of forest, a unique sleeping experience with nature sounds and mosquitoes behind the net.

Location

Päka, Põlva County, Estonia

The place is surrounded by forests where it is possible to pick wild strawberries (June, July), blueberries (July and August), mushrooms.

Ilumetsa meteorite craters are just 5 km away. The biggest of the craters, which were formed around 6600 years ago, is “Hell’s Grave”: it is up to 80 metres in diameter at its widest point, and 12.5 metres deep.

Another point of interest for nature-lovers is Meenikunno bog and the hiking trail. Cabins for hikers, an observation tower and a boardwalk attract many nature lovers to the Meenikunno bog. It´s a 10-min drive away from my place.

A popular tourist destination, the Piusa caves, is a 15 min drive away. The caves were created in 1922 as a quarry of quartz sand that was used to make glass. Nowadays there is a museum that introduces the caves and the nature. The 5€ ticket includes examining visitor centre exhibits, watching nature films, guided tour to the closed observation platform of the Museum Cave.

A popular spa nearby (15 min drive away) offers morning sauna and spa for 2.20 €/hour. Every day from 8 AM - 10 AM.

Once you are in South Estonia, you must also visit Taevaskoja, half an hour by car from my place. People say that each Estonian should at least once in a lifetime visit Taevaskoda (Heaven's Hall). Big and Small Taevaskoda in the primeval valley of Ahja River are unique tourist attractions of Põlva County that attract nature lovers from near and far. The 1100 ha nature reserve has nearly 40 sandstone outcrops on the riverbanks.
