The ART House Amsterdam - Marlene

Apartment - Private room · Imogirituin, Zeeburg, North Holland 1019, Netherlands

The ART House is a beautiful gayfriendly B&B located on the small newly developed island in Amsterdam, Java-eiland.

The Space

The ART House is a big apartment, in which we live as well. We have three rooms: Marilyn, Sophia and Marlene room, each named after the artwork hanging on the walls. Marilyn and Sophia offer great canal views towards the city.

We serve breakfast only at the weekends, but during the week close to our apartment are cafes serving bagels and coffee where you can on a sunny day sit by the river to enjoy the view and relax.

Your hosts, Robert (artist/interior stylist) & Nat (theatre director), welcome you and hope you enjoy your stay with us in Amsterdam.

Guest Access

Kitchen is only for ready food and drinks and not for cooking.

The Neighborhood

Java-island is a quiet wealthy area.

Getting around

The apartment is close to the city centre and Central Station - either by public transport ±10 minutes ride, or a short walk of ±20 minutes allowing you to take in some of the most modern architecture Amsterdam has to offer - close enough to enjoy the city but a peaceful haven surrounded by water.

Other Things to Note

In all the rooms is WIFI available (fibre-optic so it's super fast!)

Laundry service (by hosts) 7,50 euro a wash.

Public transport (24-hours) is easily accessible to and from the city.

  • I had a good time in The Art House in Amsterdam.
A quiet neighborhood very close to Central Station, just what I needed!
Robert and Nat are very nice, they helped me to find a good place for renting a bike and made me good suggestions about where to go and what to do in Amsterdam and surroundings! Thank you! I do recomend this place to stay.

  • The facilities: I stayed in the Marlene Room, which is a small and lovely little room. Wood and dark colours which I found very "warm" and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable and the room, as well as rest of the house, was pristine (as in very clean). The location is superb. Quiet, residential district on the one hand, yet only a very short (10 mins) bus ride to/from the town centre.
The hosts: Two most gracious, accommodating and helpful gentlemen. If you wish to engage, then expect friendly, interesting and polite conversation. If not, your private sphere will be respected. Finally...breakfast rocks.

  • It was a pleasure to stay in Art House! Your place is comfortable and practical. Not being in downtown wasn't a problem, as transportation is available every 15 minutes. Above all, you are marvellous hosts and I enjoyed our chats very much. All the best!

  • Always a pleasure to stay in such a cosy and clean room. A+++ for the very comfortable bed. Besides, the Art House is far and close enough from the city center to enjoy quietness and appreciate, at the same time, the activities that Amsterdam offers. Indeed, it takes less than 10 minutes with a bus (48) to go to Centraal Station. Less buses (359) after midnight, but by walk it barely takes 15-20 minutes. Nat, one of the hosts, is very welcoming. The big plus is that for few euros he suggests to lend his museum card to you. 5 stars stay !

  • I enjoyed staying at Robert's place very much! Apartments are very nicely designed and room itself was very comfortable and lovely. Waking up in the morning and seeing small cute decorated Christmas tree through the window was amazing New Years morning for me! Thanks very much :) By the way, enjoyed chat as well :)

  • Robert was a great host. He as very helpful, told me where to rent a bike and even offered a museums pass at a discounted price. His place was very clean, stylish and strategically located, giving guests a great starting point to explore Amsterdam. Also, the breakfast he prepared was delicious. I would definitely stay with Robert again.

  • Robert was an extremely accommodating host. I arrived in Amsterdam at 730 in the morning and was able to check in no problem. He also provided the museumkart which meant I didn't have to wait in any lines for the museum. Bonus! Overall such a relaxing place to treat to after a busy day in the city. I definitely recommend it.
