Interaction with Guests
I'm in close correspondence with all our guests during their inquiry, throughout their stay and after their checkout. I answer questions within a few hours at all times.
Additionally our bilingual concierge Diana, is there to greet and be of assistance to our guest during their stay. Diana and I maintain close communication and pay close attention to guest requests and feedback.
There is a convenience store that is a short walk from the house as well. Additional places you can walk to is 'Mary's Restaurant', a great dinner spot and local favorite with freshly caught local seafood specials, the 'Freedom Riding' surf shop which also offers stand up paddle boarding tours right off the Mal Pais reefs.
We recommend all our guest to have a means of transport so you can get to enjoy more of the area. We can suggest rental car agencies which have very competitive prices, just message us. Another option is to rent ATVs. We can arrange the delivery of ATVs to the villa ahead of time so that they are here when you get here. Taxis are available in town and our concierge would be more than happy to arrange pick-ups and drop-offs.
Other Things to Note
We highly recommend our guests to explore Mal Pais, Santa Teresa and Montezuma. We have a local private bilingual guide that we
One of the nicest things about our location is the Mal Pais Fishery, which is just down the road. You can head over there and buy some fresh fish right off the line. They'll even filet it for you.
The variety of fish caught off the Mal Pais coast includes Red Snapper, Sea Bass, Grouper, Snook & Tuna just to name a few. It really depends on the season.
If you are traveling with children we'd like to mention that our concierge Diana is great with kids. She is a local school teacher and she runs a children camp. If you need babysitting or nanny service during your stay just lets us know ahead of time.
Ask our concierge Diana for snorkeling gear, we have a couple of brand new sets.

Pacific azure mal pais
This was our first time using air bnb so we weren't sure what all to expect other than the reviews people had for pacific azure and the fact that it was in the location we wanted to be. The owners were not on site but ( but were in contact with me often) the host Diana is onsite in a home just down the lane and she was really great to get us set up in the house and tell us about the area. It really was walk in put your stuff down and start playing. The home was fantastic. Clean, tons of natural light with lots of cover decks. Perfect for 4 people. We stayed on the main floor. The upper floor is another rentable unit. But no one was there while we were there. There isn't much of a family room ( but enough for 4-5 people to lounge in the couch and window seat and chat) no dining room. But there was a large patio dining set just off the kitchen. So It didn't matter, we spent anytime we weren't playing lounging at the patio table or in the hammocks. The pool was large and refreshing the host kept it clean and ready for us. I honestly feel like between the ocean and the pool we barely left the water. The property is big with lots of room around it. We watched iguanas and birds in the trees. And had howler monkeys waking us up in the am. It was fantastic. The property has a tour guide named Miguel that they recommend. He came by to check in on us so we set up times to go four wheeling (these were delivered to the property for us)
Visited Montezuma water falls. Took a surfing refresher class. He was not pushy to do anything with him. Just accommodating to what we wanted. We then spent the rest of the time touring the area. Mary's restaurant was amazing and just down the road. But honestly. All the food at every place was great!! Surprisingly great!! Playa Carmen and Santa Teresa are literally minutes away in the car. It's a dirt road, but that added to the nostalgia of the area. The directions to the home are spot on, easy to find (we arrived at 8pm in the dark). Gps coordinates also worked perfect. We would come back here to stay again.
We were welcomed at our arrival by the host's agent, who lives next door and was very polite, helpful, and thorough in her briefing. The property met or exceeded our expectations in being comfortable and luxurious. Especially liked having a private pool for relaxing. The neighborhood is rural Central American: friendly locals, modest houses on considerable land with some agriculture, easy walk to multiple uncrowded beaches. Many small shops and restaurants 3 km away in Mal Pais and many more at short intervals up the road. The ocean is rough with some calm areas at low tide, so a good combination of surfing and snorkeling. Tourists tend to be young Americans and European and expat community likewise. There are no big resorts or developments. May have to stand in line at ATMs (which often run out of money) or pay surcharge to use plastic (if they'll take it). Roads rough and dusty. Beaches are incredibly clean! All-in-all, one of our best vacations ever.
Thank you John, I appreciate the descriptive positive review. I'm so glad you guys had a good time and enjoyed the property, the Mal Pais beaches and it's over all laid-back style. It's a good point you make with the ATMs when the town is busy they sometimes do run out of money. I will add that information to our listing profile and suggest to future guests to make an extra withdrawal in San Jose or Liberia prior to heading down here (during those peak season months). Thanks again for the kind words and the great feedback.
Keep warm up there in Alaska : )
This was a beautiful, comfortable house in Mal Pais! We had terrible travel delays (thanks to snow) getting out to Costa Rica, but the hosts were extremely accommodating and helpful making our stay smooth. The pool on the property is amazing, as were the beaches that were within walking distance. Be sure to ask the host Diana for tips on which beaches to go to, as well as directions for how to get there. The entrances to Mal Pais beaches are subtle, so it's important to have that insider information. This was a highlight of our Costa Rican honeymoon!
Thank you so much Kacie for the kinds words and staying with us. It was a pleasure hosting you guys. I'm glad you enjoyed the property and Mal Pais. We take our guests feedback seriously, thank you for your tips on improving our guests experience! : )
We received a nice welcoming email from Adi and Diana was greeting us at our arrival and showed us around the house and its amenities. The house and the surroundings of Mal Pais and Santa Teresa (and a trip to Montezuma) were the most beautiful part of our trip in Costa Rica. We woke up early some days from the sounds of howler monkeys that we then saw in the trees around the house, which to us was very special! Diana and her family were very friendly and helped us with little problems we had, such as Wifi that was not functional for a little while. We enjoyed the pool, the bbq and all the comfort of the house and its beautiful surroundings. A great way to start our holiday and enjoy Costa Rica!
Had a great trip. Place was perfect for us. Adi and Diana were always available, very warm and hospitable to a level that far surpassed our expectations. Miguel (our tour guide suggested by Adi) was great, he knows the area, he is polite, courteous, professional, pleasant to hang out with. Thank You for a perfect week. We look forward to visiting again
Me and my girlfriend had an amazing experience. The host has connections with everyone on the island it seemed. All we had to do was pick up the phone and tell him what we wanted to do that day, and our personal guide gave us all the options and the best prices. From surfboard rentals, to ATV rentals, and restaurant suggestions and directions.
Highly recommend this vacation spot. When I come back I'll definitely be staying here again.
The Suite was even BETTER than in the pictures. Super clean, very modern and extremely comfortable. The kitchen was fantastic and had just about everything we needed to make gourmet meals. Diana, the host, was extremely friendly and helped us out when we needed it.
Location is great if you want something a bit more remote. There was a great fish market at the end of the road where we bought the catch of the day straight from the line! Beach is about a 20 min walk away. You can drive to Monteverde in 45 min and to Santa Teresa in 10 min...if you have a car...you can't beat the location here to be able to see it all and then go home to a nice, quiet piece of paradise.

I enjoy watching people fall in love with Mal Pais, the locals and the laid back lifestyle. Funny how our guests are always tempted to extend their vacation.
My name is Adi and I've lived for over 20 years in Costa Rica, which is about half of my life. My family and some of my most amazing friends live just around the corner.
It's simple, start your day with a good cup of Costa Rican coffee... surf, explore and relax with your family and friends. It's all right here! What else does one need. : )
