Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage bei Mitch. Alle dort sind sehr gastfreundlich, das Haus wunderbar, alles Bestens, sehr komfotabel und absolut zu empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder :)
Had a great stay in Waimea as we were in the process of moving to Kauai for work. Mitch was very helpful & friendly w/suggestions for places to go and just a really cool guy in general. Kinda hoping I'll be that laid back and open after living in HI for a while, but it seems to come naturally to him :)
Our room was comfy w/a nice king bed. The lanai was great in the evenings and for breakfast each morning. We were running around w/errands & craziness so we didn't have too much time for 'vacation' exploring, but it was nice to have a relaxing place to come back to in the evenings. Was generally very quiet w/various guests coming & going a few times during the week. We enjoyed talking to a few people but weren't around too much (gab viele Deutscher hier - weiß nicht genau warum, aber aloha! Sie haben hier eine wirklich schöne Ferienwohnung!).
Enjoyed waking up to the birds, and the free bananas/papayas were a nice addition. Would definitely stay again, and might be in touch when friends/family want to visit and are in need of a place for a few days. Kinda sad we missed the music nights - maybe we'll be back once I have my guitar & ukulele in hand! Thanks again Mitch & Sharon!
A very lovely home to stay in! Sharon kindly welcomed us when we arrived and showed us around the beautiful house. The room was basic with a bed, TV, and a shared bathroom. However, the house had a fully equipped kitchen, and also had a porch with hammocks, a ping-pong table, and some tables to enjoy a meal on the netted balcony. Very nice place to explore Waimea canyon and relax and kick back at the house. The roosters are crowing even before sunrise, so it may bother light sleepers, even though I was sound asleep.
I had a great time at Mitch's and Sharon's place. They have a beautiful home. Very nice and pleasant.
I would definitely recommend this place.
I highly recommend staying with Mitch and Sharon. They were very welcoming and have a great home for guests. The top floor with its own private entrance is all for us visitors and includes a full kitchen, large deck and open space. Eating fresh fruit grown in their back yard was an added plus. And when they say it is in the canyon, it really is, and in an area you'd never likely know to go otherwise. Mitch told me about a nice hike whose trail head is walking distance from their home. Thank you for a great stay and know that I'll be back!
This is a surfers paradise, with live music to serenade you and detailed directions to hike to a magical river and incredible swinging bridge. We were greeted by the cat, Charming and a large bunch of about 88 just cut bananas free for the eating. Our room and shared bath were adequate and the bed was so comfortable at the end of each jam packed day of play. Mitch met us early on our first morning, carrying fresh picked mangos from his garden. He and David, who assists Mitch and Sharon, promptly invited Blaine to go surfing with them and grabbed one of countless boards for him. Mitch later offered great insights into the best places to view the canyon and hike, as well as to eat and swim. He even gave me info on which beaches were great for Blaine, who is at ease in the ocean... and me , who is less so. David and Mitch put on in impromtu concert on our second evening for ourselves and several of the other guests. They are really quite wonderful at ukulele and guitar and made us all feel so welcome and part of the island. The home is built on very private road, with a magnificent cliff across the road. Each morning the cliff springs to life with thousands of birds and is a miracle to behold, drowning out the roosters that start their day at 3 AM. We only got to meet Sharon on our last morn but she seemed every bit as magical and open and alive as the rest of this welcoming place.
We had a fantastic time here the location was amazing and definitely what we where hoping for in not being close to anything. The house is clean and spacious and comfy really enjoyed our time there and would stay again in a heartbeat. Our time was not long enough ! Dave was great assistance too

I have put a room in my house in airbnb and here is what I like of my guests. I am also this kind of guest.
I like a guest that wants to explore on their own. If time allows I like to hike with you. Frequently I am very busy so it is important that guests are independent and want to go and explore on their own.
A guest at my house will be self directed. I have a full time career and will not be able to show you around. However I am very social and look forward to meeting you.
Staying here will be similar to staying at a hostel in that you are self directed, make your own plans, do your own thing and clean up after yourself. The only exception is that the accommodations are nicer. My house is clean but, I do work full time so I keep my prices low and my rooms livable. If you like immaculate places where you are waited on, this is not the place for you.
