About This Listing
Allow yourself to stay in Lisbon and live like a local.
The "Old Tower House" is set in a historic district and the oldest Lisbon - Alfama.
Alfama genuinely guard their identity in the people who live there, in old houses, its narrow streets and staircases, in grocery stores, in Fado houses that abound in this neighborhood so charismatic and so unique.
This is the oldest neighborhood, more authentic, more alive and original and one of the most typical of Lisbon.
Alfama resembles a small village in the center of a large city where people meet and greet each day there is a great complicity between neighbors
This home is set in a noble building, dating from 1850 very old but refurbished throughout, maintaining some features of the original house and to which was added a decoration of refinement and charm that is unique, and feel good and comfortable in a house full light and spirit that breathes in this area of Lisbon.
Very sunny has two large windows facing the Largo de São Rafael, where the Moorish wall in Lisbon, built by Muslims between the mid-tenth century and 1147, the year when Dom Afonso Henriques conquered the city.
The house is on a par with my home during your stay we will be neighbors can count on us for all we need is a heart that's got heart and we want to help make your stay in Lisbon is a success.
The house has a large suite a large closet. Has no kitchen.
It has a refrigerator, coffee maker, electric kettle.
Towels, bedding and breakfast are included.
It is very well situated less than 5 minutes walk from downtown Lisbon, a few meters from the viewpoint Portas do Sol, Castle of Sao Jorge, the Pantheon, the Museum of Fado, a few meters from transport, shops, cafes, restaurants, fado houses, bars, flea market, museums, art galleries, craft shops ... is in the center of your perfect stay.

Interaction with Guests
We're of the neighborhood, local people. We are always available.
Susana is dedicated to guests the whole time.
We like to be with the guests in the evening with a cool drink, to share a bit of our country and get a bit of the country of origin of each guest.
This neighborhood beyond its charm has a very special thing - its authenticity. It's a neighborhood full of life with people who inhabit it and we have everything from the simplest to the fanciest. In a word - unique
We are in the city center. There is metro, bus and mythical electric 28 is in a few steps away.
The downtown is within walking distance.
I do not want to impose rules for your vacation stay, but still would like to make some notes.
The apartment is in a residential area and we have an excellent relationship with our neighbors, and so we would like to continue.
Please respect the neighbors.
Please don't smoke.
Is always nice to find the apartment estimated.
In addition, the only rule I really want to impose is that you please have fun and enjoy our beautiful city. Spend a memorable vacation.
This is my greatest desire.
Thanks a lot
My boyfriend and I had an amazing time in Susana's apartment! It looks exactly like in the pictures and was very clean and comfy. The location is perfect to explore Lisbon. Susana was very nice and gave us great tips where to eat. She also prepared breakfast every morning, which was delicious! I highly recommend staying at Susana's apartment and would book it again, if I came to Lisbon again.
The apartment is more than you can expect from the pictures. Very clean, comfortable and has a lovely balcony just above a little bar where you can hear fado singers. The area was great and the apartment is in walking distance from all the main sights. Susana is a lovely host and has the best tips for the city!
Very nice stay and easy communication with Susana. We liked the design but also very functional with good bedding and luxury shower.
The location is ideal as many interesting areas can be reached by foot, though quiet at night after the performance of the fado singers at the restaurant next door.
The studio is independant but doesn't have a kitchenette. It was no issue for us as the host provided some bread for breakfast and you can make coffee or tea as well.
Very much recommended.
I booked Susana's flat for my parents this weekend and this is their feedback:
Susana and team gave us a very warm welcome and lots of advice on what to see and where to eat as this was our first visit to Lisbon. The apartment was fantastic, really comfortable and spacious and located perfectly. We loved staying there and would have no hesitation in returning. Thank you for making our first visit to Lisbon such a memorable one! Sara and Patrick.
This was a really lovely little apartment in a great location in the heart of the historic area. The apartment has very high ceilings giving a nice sense of space and a wonderfully big shower - the bathroom was great! It's a very good value option for exploring Lisbon. Susana gave us a lovely welcome and great tips about restaurants etc. e.g. the restaurant next to the Fado museum has very tasty food.
We had a fabulous stay in this ideally located, imaginatively decorated apartment. Susana is a great host-- enthusiastic, informative, helpful, and eager to accommodate her guests. She dropped off tasty and ample breakfasts each morning, and introduced us to a wonderful local restaurant. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom spacious, and the shower a delight. The place next door has fado every night ( only okay) that pours in through the window but stops early enough to allow for a full night's sleep. Otherwise the neighborhood was quiet and pleasant. Needless to say, we found the apartment perfectly clean and fully equipped. We would certainly stay there again, and if it were to be unavailable, we would choose another of Susana's rentals.
Susana was a great host. She arranged a car pick up from the airport, and welcomed us late at night. She showed us around the apartment and told us how she works only 2 minutes from the apartment and we could find her there during the days to ask any questions that we might have, which was very convenient. Alfama is a great area- very authentic and in close proximity to the rest of Lisbon. For the most part we walked every where we needed to go. The apartment was clean and perfect size for a couple. It provided us with everything we needed, including breakfast, tea and coffee! Overall Susana is a great lady!

About the Host, Susana
We are a portuguese couple that at the beginning of our married life we have been fortunate to find a house in the center of Lisbon in a neighborhood that we only known the name - Alfama. We were welcomed with open arms by people who do not know us, but they treated us like family. The demonstrations of friendship and good neighborliness were daily ... were undoubtedly one of the best years of our lives. But the family was growing and the house no longer met the conditions for a biger family. We can't give away the house ... it's really special. Then came the idea, why do not provide this experience to others?
The reason why the house is called 'Cats House' is because when we lived there, we had five cats and lovingly to our neighbors and friends called it the House of Cats, and found it good to leave it with that name to remember the happy times live in Alfama and of course in memory of ours cats.
And the will to receive grew even more with this experience, and came "The Window of the World," and other people's homes and friends from a friends who give us their homes to receive the same love and care we receive in our house ... and thus also come to be our as well ...to receive with the same desire and taste as I have received in the Cats House I hope you like and welcome.
I sincerely hope to those who choose to come to stay in Alfama, which are as happy as we were ...
