About This Listing
Studio is right off the ocean 1 block from Larcomar and walking distance to Lima's best restaurants, shopping and entertainment. The neighborhood is one of the most sought after in Lima, as well as being super safe.
The main property is on one of the best blocks in the city and one of the last classic homes on the Malecon. It used to be the Panamanian Embassy just a few years back before we moved in.
The neighborhood is very safe and right next to the Marriott hotel and the main ocean front promenade. It's also just blocks from the cities top restaurants, cinema, grocery stores, and the ocean. The Studio has a small separate patio (no view) with a table for hanging outside to read or just meditate.
The studio is on the first floor of the three story house and has a separate entrance with a private bath with shower, full bed, internet and a kitchenette with microwave, small fridge and coffee maker.
We are a Peruvian, Californian family that live above on the top two floors (no access to main house) and are on-site to help visitors get orientated to the city. Cleaning is included as needed during longer stays and upon departure as well.
You can also view the "guidebook" for the listing to get a clear sense of it's location, in relation to the best places to visit in Lima. The listings "guidebook" is also a great reference on how to make the most out of your visit to Lima from the perspective of seasoned travelers with an eye towards safety, authenticity, flavors, fun and history.
Guests have access to the Studio apartment and patio right in front of Studio.
Interaction with Guests
We do travel from time to time but are typically on site to help with orientation to the city and Peru. Free travel advice for all!
The neighborhood is walking distance to the best of what Lima has to offer, 1/2 block to beach and very safe.
Taxi's are cheap and everywhere, but are as well, but crowded even though cheaper.
Other Things to Note
Super strong Wi-Fi in the Studio
Were a family that lives above in the top two floors of the house (studio on first floor) so mellow guests are appreciated. Not the type of place for any heavy debauchery and no smoking on the property as the smell inundates the upper two floors. Otherwise, were easy going people that likes meeting people from around the world. Guests are provided with independent access to the main property and Studio so they can come and go as they please.
I'm not familiar with all of Lima's neighborhoods, but I believe this place can be considered the "very best location." For travelers familiar with California, think Santa Monica. You're very close to the beach, and Mira Flores itself has a ton to offer. When we wanted to venture out, we walked to Barranco and took a cheap cab ride to central Lima to experience the Lima Chinatown and other sites. Evelyn, Chiara, and their cleaning lady were welcoming. Only thing I'd change is that the amenities list that a washer is available to guests, but it seemed as if the hosts preferred we *not* use the washer. After a few days of hiking, I had been looking forward to a washing machine, but that had to wait until my return home to the States. This was a minor setback, however, and the value of this stay and the hot showers with perfect water pressure made up for it.
We stayed at this wonderful little studio apartment at the beginning and end of our travels as we flew into and out of Lima. This studio truly is in the very best location. It's a few minute walk to the Larcomar which has restaurants, grocery store and shopping. It is less than a minute walk to the walking path on the ocean front cliffs which goes for miles. And it is on a small, quiet street.
Nick greeted us when we first arrived and gave us a tour around the area. Then, as we were having difficulties with our credit card and bank card he helped us out with calling on Skype. That truly saved the day for us. When we returned a month later it was so nice to come back to a friendly and familiar area. Both Evelyn and Chiara were super helpful.
I would highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in a great location.
Evelyn was a great hostess to us during our final few days in Peru. Their home is superbly located a block from the ocean and 2 blocks from the LarcoMar shopping center and Miraflores. There is a taxi stand in front of the LarcoMar that served as a great resource for getting around and to the airport. Plus, the Larcomar is a landmark that any cab driver knows so you'll have an easy time getting back to the neighborhood.
The space was everything we needed-- filtered water, bed, shower & towels. My only warning would be for tall folks. The ceilings in this unit seemed low to me. I am 5'5" and could easily touch the ceiling with my hands. I would think that anyone close to 6 feet tall would feel uncomfortable. Other than that, the space was great.
Thanks again for having us!
Evelyn was a wonderful host! My late arrival would have inconvenienced anyone, but she was ready to greet me at the door when I arrived! She also arranged a cab back to the airport when it was time to depart.
The space is perfect, just the right amenities to come back to when it's time to turn in for the evening and a great location for a jumping point into Lima. Larcomar is right there if you need to shop, rent a bike (70 soles for a day!), or walk down Larco to explore much of Lima.
Will definitely stay here again when I return!
Had a great stay .the apartment was perfect , friendly helpful hosts would highly recommend
