About this listing
This is a lovely warm and friendly home, filled with personality and stylish design. Once a family home, we now love to fill it with happy guests. The rooms are large and cosy, with their individual design and character.
We have a lovely 5 bedroom family house in the desirable Edinburgh location of Morningside, a short bus ride to the city centre and a 5 minute walk to local Morningside amenities. It is also right next to beautiful country walks that give fantastic views over Edinburgh city.
Our house has 4 double bedrooms and one single attached to one of the doubles, perfect for families. We are a retired couple who love having people to stay and will welcome everyone into our lovely family home. There is one bathroom and toilet and another separate toilet. The bathroom has an electric shower so there is always hot water!
We offer guests sole use of one of our sitting rooms, with a coal fire and flat screen TV. Guests can also use the kitchen and dining room and the garden with heater during the lovely summer months.
We offer a complimentary tea/coffee and croissant for breakfast, but for a full breakfast this will be £6 per person and dinner is £12pp, we love to cook and think you will be pretty pleased with our Scottish dining experience (please give 24 hour notice and dietary requirements).
Our house is out of the city centre which offers a lovely calm friendly feeling, but there is a bus stop just a 2 minute walk along the road which will take you into town in 20 minutes.
We also have free Wifi available and offer towels to all our guests.
Our house is very pet friendly and we have one old dog who is very friendly and used to visitors and any pets are welcome with guests.
Please be aware that the pricing is per room, based on up to two people sharing.
We really love to have people to stay and will love to welcome you into our lovely house.
On top of a double bedroom you will also have a sitting room which is just for guests. The dinning room and kitchen are free to use to make drinks or a snack. Please be aware that access to the kitchen in the evening may be limited due to our use for cooking evening meals. There is a front and back garden which can be used to enjoy the sunshine and smoking is allowed in these areas. There is a bathroom and toilet which is shared and also a separate down stairs toilet. Please be aware there is no private bathroom.
Interaction with Guests
We like to be there to greet guests with a welcome tea/coffee and some home baking whenever possible. We will leave information in the bedrooms about travel, the area and some suggested activities. If anyone requires any further information we are happy to give advice and suggestions as we have lived in Edinburgh for many years, so we know the city very well.
It is a lovely family neighbourhood in a very safe area. There are local shops a 5 minute walk away and a bus stop into town a 2 minute walk away. There are 3 lovely walks which are also 5 minutes away, with views across the whole of Edinburgh. There are a selection of pubs and cafes and a large supermarket 10 to 15 minute walk from the house.
It is free and safe to park a car outside the house. There are many buses which run every few minutes just a 5 minute walk from the house. All the buses go into Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh train station. You can also get a connecting bus to the airport from the centre. A taxi will cost around £15 from the airport to the house and take around 20 minutes

I am a recently retired childminder and live in a lovely family home with my husband Terry, who has also recently retired. We love our warm family home, but unfortunately all of our children have grown up and flown the nest, so we now have 4 great bedrooms available to rent. We are very social and love having guests round for dinner as I love cooking. We also love to travel and are making the most of our retirement by travelling around and seeing the world. We love to meet new people, but respect our guests' need for space and privacy, and welcome everyone into our lovely home.
