The city of Melaka, founded around the year 1400, is considered to be the founding city of modern Malaysia. Being strategically located along major shipping routes, the city prospered during the reign of the Melaka Sultanate. It was later conquered by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. A melting pot of various cultures and traditions, its uniqueness was duly recognised when it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage City together with the city of Georgetown in Penang in 2008.

We spent 4 nights in Malacca, in the gorgeous 'room with river-view and balcony' during the Chinese New Year period. The room was lovely, very spacious with wooden floors and shutters and a big beautiful, comfortable bed with white linen and fluffy pillows, we slept remarkably well even with the onslaught of firecrackers and fireworks every night. The Hosts were welcoming and warm and we found our stay relaxing and very enjoyable. The location is perfect for exploring the old town of Malacca as it is moments away from Jonker Street and the historical sites can all be reached easily on foot. I would not hesitate to stay here again.
It was a pleasant journey even for the local people. My families come back for CNY holidays every year but we don't have the Malacca home stay experience. We felt surprise with the room Malaysian mix culture decor. It was completely different from Taiwan's home stay. The Malacca river cruises are high recommend because it's full of Malacca historical memories and sceneries.
It was a pleasant 2D1N stay. The room was spacious and comes with a huge bathroom. The balcony view was amazing, just alongside the river. The bed was super comfy and the room gives you a very homey feel. Security wise is a no worry as they are using a magnetic lock system which only allows you to enter with a valid card. Checking in and out was lightning. Wei Yi and his family were kind and helpful, recommended us some of their local fav eats. On top of that, the location was really well situated, a few hundred meters from the famous Jonker Street night market. There were also quite a number of famous eats around the corner. Some being very well known by tourist, some only by locals. Definitely worth the stay!
In all the rooms we were very comfortable and it was very clean. River view rooms were just wonderful with their spaciousness and wonderful views. All the family were delightful and helpful. it was truly lovely being a part of this ancient city of Malacca and its history. I would recommend this guesthouse to anyone. Richard and Lyn
Wei Yi Thor and his parents are excellent hosts. Their house is beautifully located in the old town of Malacca next to the river. It is a traditional Chinese house, with central courtyards, which they have sensitively modernised. The room was spacious with its own well equipped bathroom and french doors opening onto a verandah overlooking the river.
Malacca has many historic sites to inspect. It really enhanced my visit to be staying in a central location with a lovely private verandah to relax on when I needed to escape the heat.
The Wei family were very helpful to me, arranging for example a taxi to take me on a tour of a neighbouring town.
I am happpy to recommend their house.
Very nice room with a lot of space, great bed and a balcony that offers better view than any of the restaurants by the river! The social areas are lovely and pleasant to spend time in for the comfort and quietness. Location was perfect, was able to do all the historic town on foot. Highly recommend.
When we arrived in Malacca, it was raining so unfortunately we couldn’t enjoy their beautiful river view. The room was very cosy and nice. A bed was enough to sleep for three (a couple and a small kid) and very nice interiors so we were really feeling to be in historical place.
However the night was a Hindu festival (Diwali), so there was a big party nearby guesthouse whole night. Firecrackers and big music sound were so noisy and couldn’t sleep well. Otherwise we are sure to fall to sleep whole nice with a wonderful bed.
We had not enough time to enjoy this guesthouse b t if we have another chance to come back Malacca, definitely we will stay here.
Our stay at the house of Wei Yi Thor was great - thanks a lot for taking care of the very clean room and facilities, for calling a taxi for our early morning leave, for answering our questions etc.! And the house is really lovely, amazing view over the river, very nice interieur and furniture - good style! Anyway it is not a private home, but a small hotel - which was absolutely fine for us, just for those who looking for a local experience. We had an awesome time in Melacca, the food at the various restaurants was great - sea food, we love it, and you will enjoy your stay there, too, I am sure ;-)
We had wonderful time here. The room is really beautiful. Large with a wonderful balcony overlooking the river, and opposite the church.
Wei Yi Thor and her family are wonderful hosts. They were all very helpful and friendly, including her 5 year old grandson who showed us to our room and never missed an opportunity to open the front door for us.
We got great advice about where to eat and places to visit. I recommend the Indian restaurant opposite the guesthouse. The food is excellent and embarrassingly cheap.
Thank you for a wonderful stay. We would love to return to Melacca and stay with Wei Yi Thor again.
While browsing on Malacca's listing, the river-view room immediately caught my eyes. Truly satisfied with my stay in Wayfarer Guest, awesome location, my friend and I toured major attractions in Malacca just by foot! The room was clean and bigger than I expected, accompanied with the balcony faced to the river, can't ask for more than this!
Nonetheless, I very appreciate Wei's prompt reply (our conversation happened at midnight), and was so nice to offer me alternate plans according my situation.
So this made my first experience with Airbnb! Highly recommend this place!
