The space

Hi everyone,
I am renting a warm, cosy holiday cottage in stunning countryside: mountains, see and lakes. Particularly for people who like to walk, to read, to paint and relax. The cottage is ideal for families and friends alike. Clifden Town is a welcoming town, which has a superb selection of traditional pubs (traditional music daily), excellent see food restaurants and a large variety of interesting shops. It hosts many festivals, it's surrounded by many beaches and it's a perfect base to explore the Connemara region (daily boats to Inishbofin island). Connemara is a haven for mountain walkers, pony trekkers, golfers, scuba divers, rock climbers, canoeists and sailors.

Lovely weekend retreat in a beautiful setting of Connemara. The house is a semi-detached one with a vintage feeling though clean and cosy enough to accommodate a whole family. Near by is a children playground and a vast meadow to play on. The only thing that was missing was WiFi but on the other hand that provided us a proper disconnect

Lovely cottage in a largish park. The cottage itself is compact, but the beds are good and there is plenty to see and do in the neighborhood. Recommended for a long weekend. Aldi and Lidl close by on the way into town. Bit far out of town though, and not a recommended walk (most of it is along a main road); if you're headed out for a pub night, be sure to take a taxi back. I'd recommend Guy's Bar for the food. And for an interesting outing, try Glendowa Mines (around a 30 minute drive toward Galway.)

Picture of exterior street scene left me with impression of slightly-raised stand-alone property with its own driveway, and this was what I was expecting. However, this was not the case and this compact semi-detached dwelling is set well back from the access road and feels somewhat 'hemmed-in' by its neighbours. The parking driveway is directly in front of this property and its front-room window. The driveway is shared and at the weekend there were four cars and a motorbike on it at one point ... ok if everyone parks with consideration. The saplings in the general street scene in the photo are now, it appears, full-grown trees. The property, while very lived-in and showing its age in places, was very clean and was cosy enough. The kitchenette/diner/seating area is very compact and, while we didn't need it, the open hearth is a nice touch. The seating area is limited and the chairs are not the comfiest (especially for a six-foot male like me) and so we used the upstairs bedroom to read and relax. The walk into Clifden of just over a mile is along the main road into Clifden from Galway with attendant traffic. It is do-able but potentially hazardous in the dark. A short drive into town was the answer. The host made us feel most welcome with a bottle of wine and flowers which were most welcome. The reduced weekly rate was fair.

We stayed nearly two weeks in Clifden Glen and had the most amazing time. The house is well equipped with a complete kitchen, enough towels and beddings, a hairdryer (we forgot ours), a wonderful fireplace and many more. The town Clifden with pubs, discounter, cafés, shops etc. is 1 minute by car. When we arrived there were already a bottle of wine, fresh flowers and enough turf, which was a nice gesture. Superficially it was clean, but the kitchen drawers looked more like not cleaned for longer and there were dust and cobweb. But expect from this, everything is really nice and Kathleens Cottage ist the perfect place for holidays in Connemara!

We had a wonderful stay in Kathleen house. The place is well suited located to spend your time in Clifden and enjoy the Clifden Arts Festival in September.

Nice holiday cottage in a quiet location just outside Clifden (less than 5minutes driving to the town centre). It's a very good base to visit Connemara national park, Clifden sky road, the lovely seaside between Clifden and Roundstone, and so many other things. Kathleen is a very nice and welcoming host and we were very glad to meet her.
