Green design villa in rural Bali 30- 40 minutes from Ubud, 1 hour from airport. Prime location as a base for bicycle tours, trekking, cultural tourism, white water rafting, or just a beautiful place to rest. New natural stone swimming pool. Air-conditioned master bedroom. The whole property is for your exclusive use - Private!

The space

Honey Tree Villa is open air design facing the jungle with a green belt river in back. Upstairs shower has views of lush terraced rice paddies . The top floor bedroom has a spectacular tree-house feel. You can literally touch the treetops. This space is glassed in with windows that open and is air conditioned space although I prefer to sleep with the windows open as the nights are cool. Beautiful gardens surround our stunning new natural stone swimming pool. Its a hide-away kind of place, for a great escape from city life and a chance to meet Balinese and observe their real way of life away from tourist areas. We have three multi speed bikes available free for your use.
All bedrooms have queen size beds with bed net canopy. There are two en-suite bedrooms with private bath. The master suite includes the entire top floor. The second suite is on the ground floor.. Dining room & kitchen are located in the new wing. Both bedroom suites have either a terrace or balcony overlooking the new pool. A "bonus bedroom" we call the Jungle Room is perfect for overflow sleeping. Access is outside in the lower garden. So, kitchen, dining, & living rooms are available for your exclusive use...you are renting the complete property.

Recently we lost the cell signal at the villa for some unknown reason but you can connect to the internet nearby. Kadek will help you. If you must have high speed internet connection 24/7, please understand that is not available here. The cellular signal is good most places in the village & you can access the internet while traveling around. Our guests do visit websites, post photos, hold online meetings, book tickets, and do email without difficulty.
Good outside laundry service is available at very reasonable local Bali rates. We have a breakfast menu, offering American, continental, or Indonesian breakfast for about $3 per person. Our English speaking cook is also available for hire to cook lunch or dinners for your group, about $5 per person. She mostly knows Bali or simple Indonesian cooking. Delicious take-out food is also available. Try the nasi Padang!
Our location is central to everything on Bali ( we are in the geographic center of the island) but you will need some means of transport. The most convenient mode of getting around Bali is to use Kadek's very affordable car & driver/guide service. Its almost as cheap as driving yourself, and much more relaxing. Our house manager, Kadek, speaks English well, is available for island tours or basic daily transport. Airport pickup / drop off service ( $30). Local trips or auto tours cost about $6/hr including petrol.
You can rent a car or motor scooter rather cheaply ( we will help you if you want) and drive yourself. Please read our guest reviews ... Most give a realistic picture of the Honey Tree Villa experience. Lodging in a true Balinese village may not appeal to those looking for a tourist resort environment.
Long stay or short, our staff will help you with any of your needs. Bed linens, towels, kitchen utensils, soap all included in the price. Gardener & pool service included. Every morning the yard is swept clean of leaves that have fallen the night before.
In short... Life is sweet at the Honey Tree ! :)

Guest access

You are renting the whole property and all its equipment, including 3 multi speed bicycles.BBQ grill. Swimming pool. 3 bedrooms. Whole house and all the grounds.

Interaction with guests

You will be met at the property upon arrival. Guests have the property to themselves, but staff will be on site morning and evening to provide guest services.

Other things to note

Tourist infrastructure, such as western resturants, do not exist in the village. Ask Kadek about Indonesian take-out food. Padang food is cheap & delicious.
Expect to drive, but not too far, when you want to eat out. Minimart and Indonesian restaurants 10 minutes away. Ubud is 30 -45 minutes away. There you will find thousands of travelers, and hundreds of resturants, shops, and complete tourist facilities of every kind. Ubud also has a traffic problem. Too much of a good thing. Still fun to visit.

Absolutely exceeded expectations! I would definitely recommend staying and stay again myself! This is such a dreamy, quiet and peaceful place to spend quality relaxation time! I cannot say enough good things, I would live in this house full time if I had the option. Kadek and family were incredibly helpful and kind! I also highly recommend the meal service provided by Kadeks wife, so delicious!

Let me start off by saying that I'm a bit of an anxious traveler. I always seem to be at least slightly on edge when I go somewhere new. This is amplified if I don't speak the language or am going to a wholly unfamiliar place. When we pulled up to Honey Tree Villa, my travel anxiety was at an all time high. Luckily Kadek and his wife were so welcoming, and the property is so unique and beautiful that I couldn't help but relax. The villa is such a special place. The area is quiet and charming. If you are hoping to see how people really live in Bali, look no further. Kadek had great recommendations on how to schedule our days to see everything we had hoped to see, and his wife made sure we were extremely well-fed. It was an incredible trip, and I would recommend Honey Tree Villa to anyone hoping to see this part of the world.

The house is definitely not as beautiful on the pictures as it is in real. Our stay was wonderful thanks to Kadek and his wife. They are really nice and helpful and will always be willing to make you discover the most beautiful places in Bali. Kadek's wife is a chef! She cooks very well. I strongly recommend her noodles and banana pancakes :).

The caretaker of Honey Tree (and his wife) pretty much made the trip for me. They were outstandingly hospitable as well as conscientious for my comfort and safety. They looked after my needs including transportation to the local sights and Ubud. The Villa is a lovely home with a beautiful pool and is quite comfortable. It is located near a busy road during the day where street noise can be heard. I wasn't there on the weekend so I couldn't say if that would be the case. Fortunately, it is very quite in the evening so if one is sightseeing during the day, they would never notice. It is a beautiful and lovely place to stay.

Jack communicated with me from first making the reservation. He and his manager, Kadek, were terrific to work with and Kadek's wife provides a mean breakfast.

We had great experience staying at Honey Tree Villa. Jack has been very responsive and was in constant contact throughout our stay. We loved villa so much which is so much away from hustle and bustle of town. Kadek was amazing guy and helped us with all our needs and also with all sight seeing tours. Villa is very beautiful and open air design is amazing. I don't think pictures in Airbnb does justice to Villa. You have to experience it. I highly recommend for folks who wants to spend quality time away from hustle and bustle of town and want to enjoy peaceful time.

Our stay at Honey Tree Villa was nothing short of divine! The grounds are stunning, the location is spectacular, and everything about our stay was absolutely wonderful. From the very early morning sounds of the jungle that surrounds the property (birds, cicadas, geckos) plus the local roosters and the local community heading off to work and/or market, we felt that we were part of the stunning environment. Kadek, our driver and local 'host,' is the real gem of this property. He is kind, thoughtful, funny, and efficient, making our stay extra special. When the volcano eruption on the nearby island of Lombok delayed and even cancelled flights, we all hoped that our return flight to Bangkok would be equally affected as we would have loved several more days at Honey Tree Villa. Unfortunately our flight went as scheduled - but we all hope to return. This is the most relaxing, wonderful vacation any of the four of us have ever had. Thank you, Kadek, and thank you, Jack!

Split my time between mid-coast Maine & my house in the village in Bali. Been traveling since age 5. Grew up in South Pacific & S.E. Asia. Active as a real estate broker & director of Health Access Sumbawa, an anti-malaria social program. Hobbies include adventure travel, kayaking, cycling, and just started paddle boarding. I've seen a lot of the world, and for me Bali is as good as it gets. Enjoy making new friends & sharing what I have with them.
