About this listing
Beautiful private bedroom for rent in this loft-style apartment in the heart of Red Hook, South Brooklyn!
The apartment is located on the 3rd floor of an old brick building in this quaint little seaside neighborhood. The space boasts high ceilings, an open floor plan, exposed brick, original moldings, beautiful pine hardwood floors, a fully equipped kitchen and 7 oversized windows that provide ample sunlight both morning and afternoon as well as a view of lower Manhattan. The charming space is only amplified by the decor; tidy and minimal, freshly painted white walls, antique and reclaimed furniture, lots of plants and greenery. It's pretty much the archetypal Brooklyn apartment experience!
Situated just one block from Red Hook's main drag (Van Brunt Street) and all of its charming shops and restaurants, the apartment offers an amplitude of local amenities including Fairway Supermarket (arguably the best in NYC), a laundry facility around the corner, Coffey Park, Valentino Pier (the perfect spot for a bottle of wine and a view of the statue of liberty), a local bicycle shop offering rentals for $25/day, and more!
The apartments location in the industrial neighborhood of Red Hook offers a welcome reprieve from the more cramped and touristy areas of Manhattan and Brooklyn. That said, if you want to dive into the typical NYC experience you'll find it easy to get to all of the major destinations. The B61 bus stop is 1 block away and it's an easy 15 minute walk or 7 minute bike ride to Carroll Gardens and the F/G train (20/30 minute ride into Manhattan or Williamsburg)!
I work in close-by Carroll Gardens and will be around to welcome you! If I'm traveling myself my boyfriend (who lives just a few blocks away) will let you in and show you the ropes. I will be happy to provide you with food/drink/destination recommendations. Your also more than welcome to use the kitchen (the french press, the oven/stove/toaster, the kettle, etc.) to save a buck or two on meals during your visit! I keep the apartment very neat and tidy, am super respectful and open-minded and look forward to hosting like-minded people!!
Please feel free to use my kitchenware, oil/spices, tea/coffee! Free street parking is very easy to come by!
Interaction with Guests
I am always available and on call if you should need anything at all.
Fresh/Clean sheets and towels will be provided! Feel free to dive into my coffee/tea supply! Use my cooking basics for your meals (spices, olive oil)! Please don't smoke inside the apartment and be sure to leave the place in the same state that you found it (tidy and clean)!
This was our first experience with Airbnb and it couldn't be more positive! Emily was so friendly and helpful! The apartment is exactly as shown in the photos. So nice, clean, stylish, comfy and cozy that it feels like home!
The location is great! quiet and safe. There are some coffee shops, small supermarkets and a bus stop very close to the apartment. Manhattan is awesome but we also loved walking in the neighborhood and immerse ourselfs in the Brooklyn atmosphere.
I would highly recommend to stay here!
Had great time in Red Hook; enjoyed jogging through neighborhood; Emily was friendly and helpful.
Emily's place is justy great--airy and comfortable, and remarkably quiet. The Red Hook location was perfect for me since I have family a 5-minute walk away. Emily was very responsive, attentive, timely and friendly throughout, making for an enjoyable, hassle-free experience. I recommend Emily and her loft unconditionally.
As our 1st Airbnb experience... O MY, Emily's apartment is so so beautiful even better than the images, really! We just loved her style, look and feel of her apartment! The location of Emily's apartment is also very conveniently situated in Red Hook and 2 mins walk from the main road where you will find awesome little shops and restaurant. There is also a FREE Ikea Ferry that runs on the weekends to Manhattan Island, which is about 10-15 mins walk from the apartment. Emily's apartment was SUPER CLEAN & TIDY (Hotel like feel, but homie). Our room was light and airy, with views of Statue of Liberty out of the one window and the other of Manhattan. We didn't see to much of Emily as we stayed over (2 nights), over a weekend and she also had plans. She was very friendly and a great host and even had a little welcome pack in our room with all the info we needed on Red Hook. Red Hook is a lovely little place, chilled, interesting and I would love to visit it again. Two resustrant to defiantly try out: Brooklyn Crab & Fort Defiance. Thank you Emily, wish we could have stayed longer and really loved your spot, hope to visit you soon in the future.
This is a warning: If you plan to stay at Emiliy's place you should be madly in love with someone. If not so you will run the risk of falling in love with her. She is warm and smart, welcoming and sweet - and so is her place.
The neighborhood Red Hook is along with Park Slope my favorite one in Brooklyn: rough but safe and you can sit at the dock like Marvin Gaye did, sniffing the ocean.
I would definitely recommend staying at Emily's place, however: I was madly in love and one the safe side ...
Such a gorgeous space with lots of sunlight!! Emily is a sweetheart and was very present (ie, easy to get in touch with and communicative) yet we felt like we had a lot of personal space, which is wonderful and wasn't really expected (but greatly appreciated!!) in NYC. FYI~there is some long-term construction going on across the street so if you're a light sleeper in the a.m. it may be a consideration, and it is a bit of a walk to the nearest subway. The area is not residential, but it doesn't feel unsafe during the day or late at night. It was a beautiful place to land and come home to every day and just perfect for our stay. Thank you!!!
