Bright, modern and spacious seaside getaway set on an acre of garden with panoramic views of Schull Harbour and Mount Gabriel.
5 minute walk from one of Ireland's quaintest villages, Schull, and within easy reach of the spectacular coastline of the southwest.
It is an ideal holiday spot with plenty of space both inside and out. There are 4 bedrooms; 1 average sized double, one small double (with a bunk - so it actually sleeps 3) and 2 twin rooms. There are two bathrooms; 1 with a shower and one with a bath.
There is a very spacious open-plan kitchen/dining room with a large feature open fireplace. French doors lead out from the kitchen offering a panoramic sea view. The kitchen contains built-in units, granite worktop, oven, hob, fridge freezer, microwave and dishwasher (washing machine and dryer in a separate utility room).
The living room has a large tv, comfortable three seater sofa and 2 easy chairs. It also has a set of french doors which offer great sea views.
Schull village is a Mecca for sailing and sea-kayaking. It's very popular during Calves Week, a sailing regatta usually held after the August bank holiday. Out of season the village is even more attractive in some ways, with a strong local community and great bars and cafes.
It is an hour's drive from Cork International Airport and it is an hour and a quarter from Cork City. The biggest local towns are Bantry and Skibberenn (both a 20 minute drive). Schull is also served by a regular bus service from Cork City.
The house is very well placed to explore both Mizen Head and Sheep's Head. Both peninsulas offer what is probably Ireland's most spectacular Coastal Scenery. West Cork is a food lovers paradise; there are countless farmers markets, artisan food producers, cafes, restaurants and gourmet pubs. There is (email hidden)ly music scene.
Moira and Deirdre will meet and greet you and provide you with a set of keys and any other local information that will help you make the most of your stay.
I have spent several wonderful holidays in the Rosbeag ('Stunning Sea View Cottage'). The views certainly are stunning and the house has a lovely homely feel to it. It is the perfect base to explore Schull and its surroundings. Schull is one of my favourite places in Ireland; the village has great bars, shops and cafes and the local coastline has countless 'secret' coves ideal for swimming, diving and sea kayaking. I would highly recommend it.
