About this listing
Gorgeous penthouse bedroom is a stunning 3 bedroom apartment over 2 floors with en suite bathroom, air conditioning and direct access on to your own lounge and a beautiful terrace with hammocks, bar and sun deck. The flat has 2 living rooms, wifi, Sky TV and a lovely big kitchen, which you are more than welcome to use.
Breakfast is served downstairs at the breakfast bar with fresh fruit salad, yoghurt and granola, fresh rolls cheese and ham and coffee or tea.
The lovely big terrace is a shared space with an honesty bar and the apartment is run as a home from home with guests treated like house guests instead of paying guests. You are more than welcome to come to concerts, events and parties that I am going to locally, and on festival weekends and carnival I do events on the terrace with live capoeira and percussion. If you'd rather just do your own thing or simply hang out in one of the hammocks on the terrace, that's fine too. This bed and breakfast option is only available from December through to March.
There are 2 other bedrooms, both downstairs, which gives you the feeling of having your own separate accommodation within the apartment.
Situated in Barra just 5 minutes from the beautiful Porto da Barra beach (voted one of the world's top 10 beaches) and the main Barra-Ondina carnival route, Barra is just 10 minutes by taxi to the old town, Pelourinho, and is a safe residential neighbourhood full of local bars and restaurants.
Price quoted is for 2 people. Contact me for rates for single occupancy.
I run the apartment as a guest house but treat everyone as house guests so you are more than welcome to join me at concerts in the old town and invite friends and locals to the flat for evening drinks. I have a lot of contacts in the music, capoeira and dance scenes as well as the local gay scene and links with guest houses and resorts along the coast north of Salvador and on some of the islands south.
I really need to go back to have a fuller experience, I only spent 3 days. Not enough. Paul's apt is in Barra, very close to the sea front. Barra is a very local area not full of tourists. Paul wasn't there on the day I arrived but his assistant Mauricio took good care of me. Paul arranged a taxi to pick me from the airport too. His apartment is very welcoming, and he is a very easy and pleasant guy to get along with. My room was very comfortable and it had nearly constant breeze all day so I didn't even need to use the aircon. We had a great time together the day he got back. Many thanks, Paul. I will be back for sure. I can easily recommend Paul's apartment, naturally, because I will going back for sure!
It was my first time at House Guest Brazil and it was AMAZING. Paul is a GREAT host, the flat is lovely, VERY well located with a charming roof terrace. My friend and I had a nice time and the opportunity to meet very special people during our stay. Thanks a lot Paul for the time spent with us and congratulations on making your guests holidays so wonderful. Well done. We will definitely return.
We had the very best stay at Pauls house. We can highly recommend this very nice appartment. It is just as in the pictures-clean,modern and cosy. It is also very close to the beach and it is easy to either take the bus or a cab in to the centre of Salvador. The terrace is lovely and is free to use at all times. Paul was the very best host-recomending places to go (and not to go), taking us to events such as concerts and local happenings and arranging nice breakfasts in the mornings. He also arranged a house party with capoeira guys having a show at the terrace. Staying at Pauls house while visiting Salvador is the very best choice - you will not be disappointed!

About the Host, Paul
English guy who splits his time between Brighton and Salvador. When I'm in Brazil (usually December through til March) and in Brighton (May to August) I do hosted bed and breakfasts - by hosted I mean you're treated as a house guest rather than someone staying in a guest house - you can come with me to concerts and events and join me for drinks on the terrace or in the garden. I do events and receptions for the bigger festival events like Yemanja, canival and New Year's Eve in Salvador and Brighton Festival and Pride in Brighton. Happy to introduce you to local friends and try to make your stay as great as possible. Salvador and Brighton are both amazing cities and everyone is very friendly but, like everywhere, you get more out of your stay if you stay with someone who knows the city. You are also welcome to just do your own thing or hang out on the terrace or in the garden. I have a large network of friends and contacts involved in music, arts and dance in both cities. When I'm not there I rent the flats out as self catering units but still more than happy to advise on local information, where to go and put you in contact with some local friends.
