  • We enjoyed our time at Butterfly Hill immensely. There is plenty to explore in and around the home with lots of great places to relax. Whether on the porch listening to the sound of the nearby creek, or stargazing from the hot tub, Butterfly Hill is truly a great place to escape. Troy is a kind, funny, and gracious host who was committed to ensuring our stay is as pleasant as possible.

Our stay was further enhanced by learning about the wonderful history of Butterfly Hill and the surrounding area. Troy has done an outstanding job at balancing the historic nature of the home with all the modern comforts and considerations that one would want.

As an AirBnB host myself, I learned a great deal from Troy. Our only regret is that we were not able to stay longer and enjoy the farm eggs and bread!

Thank you, Troy for such a great stay - we can't wait to come back!

  • Troy and co. Were very say going, relaxed and accommodating company. I interacted with him much more than I usually do and it was because of his welcome demeanor. This place is quaint, secluded and I would highly recommend spending more than a night here, his garden was beautiful. I loved this place, it reminded me of my grandmothers house, it had the old farm house smell you can't get anywhere else.

  • This was our third time visiting this little piece of paradise, and we are not strangers anymore, we are already a family. I was sitting in a rocking chair on the balcony upstairs soaking up the serenity this place offers, and started thinking - if they were to move to another place, what would the take with them? There are so many details, so many objects that keep your eye moving and yet it feels like this is the only place they belong to.
We are so lucky that they've opened their doors for many of us to experience the bliss and tranquility this little Fairyland unfolds.

  • Troy has been a wonderful host and his place is simply amazing. We had such a great time and I wish we could have stayed longer.
It's a picturesque piece of land.. Breath. Calm down. Sleep well. Recharge. Enjoy the creek, the bread, the eggs and everything else this place has to offer. Enjoy yourself.

Bottom line: we had an amazing time and look forward to come back!
P.S. I am looking forward to see how the car-share works out as it would be great for anyone looking to arrive on the train and still be mobile (although it is a pretty good place to be stranded)

  • The "Butterfly Hill" house is just as charming as it appears in the photos, and Troy was a kind and generous host. We were able to take advantage of the yard, gas grill, chiminea fire pit, local hiking trail and playing with all of the animals. The breakfast eggs, bread and coffee were delicious.

  • Wonderful location and wonderful people. On our way to DC we stopped by Troy and Scott's place to see Amish country and and enjoy the peace and quiet before heading into the hustle and bustle of DC. Troy and Scott were very welcoming, easy going and had a lovely decorated home. We would have liked to stay longer!

  • Troy was a welcoming and generous host from the moment I arrived. He made every moment of my stay comfortable and easy, and he added extra touches like sharing homemade goat milk feta. His charming home was the perfect place to spend an Amish-country evening while traveling from NC to MA. I would recommend the "Butterfly Hill" home to anyone who wishes for a sweet escape.

  • We needed a place to relax, breathe clean air, be surrounded by healing nature and enjoy each other on our 38th wedding anniversary. Troy was an excellent host, the home he opened up to us was comfortable, clean and refreshing. The view from the top porch was a haven for us to hear and see the creek, birds and be still.

I'm an easy going guy. I Enjoy gardening, my critters (Goats, Dog, cats, chickens and peacocks ) and being creative. I like the outdoors and just being around nature and watching the birds. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people! I love old things and finding away to reuse or re-purpose them. I believe you should treat people the way you want to be treated. With love and respect.
