The largest of the three buses, with its own plunge pool on a terrace that hangs over the Guanacaste valley. Hummingbirds work the flowers while you read. Inside: a queen bed, a full kitchen, a rain shower and a hand-built Guanacaste hardwood desk facing the view. No shared walls, no neighbours, nobody else at the pool. Twenty minutes from Lake Arenal and an easy stop between Liberia airport and La Fortuna.
The space
🌊 The pool comes first
Your plunge pool sits on a private terrace with the valley falling away in front of it. It's lit at night, so a midnight swim is on. Nobody else uses it and nobody can see you in it.
📐 The roomiest of the three
Of the three buses, this is the one with the most room to move around inside. It's the thing guests mention right after the view — you don't spend the stay edging past furniture.
🐦 The terrace
Furnished, panoramic, a full 180° of valley. Hummingbirds come to the flowers most mornings. Bring a book and lose the afternoon.
🚌 A bus, rebuilt properly
It started life as a school bus. Your host — an industrial designer trained in New York and Italy — stripped it back and rebuilt it, making every piece of furniture by hand in his own woodshop. Guanacaste hardwood, timber ceilings, nothing mass-produced.

Queen bed, hotel-grade linens, the valley through the glass when you open your eyes.
🍳 Kitchen
Full kitchen: induction stove, fridge, French press, Costa Rican coffee. An honesty box on the property carries local yogurt, eggs, bagels, craft beer, snacks and handmade pieces — take what you like, write it down, settle up when you leave.
🚿 Bathroom
Rain shower, hot water, thick towels, and the toothbrush you forgot.

Tierras Morenas, Guanacaste. 20 minutes to Lake Arenal, 1.5 hours to Río Celeste, and a natural halfway stop between Liberia airport and La Fortuna — a lot of guests break the drive here and then wish they'd booked two nights. Couples and solo travellers. The depth of the plunge pool and the original bus stairs make this a poor fit for young children.

The whole bus and every outdoor space around it are yours alone — the plunge pool, the panoramic deck, the kitchen, the bedroom and the bathroom. Nothing is shared. The other two buses sit further along the hillside with their own separate areas, out of sight. Self check-in with a smart lock, so you can arrive whenever your day allows, and parking for 3–4 cars at the entrance.

It's remote, and that's the point. There are a handful of restaurants 10–20 minutes away and a basic grocery store 5 km down the road, so most guests stock up on the way in and then don't move for two days.
You're in the middle of a valley, which means nature turns up. There are screens on every opening and bug spray provided, but the occasional curious insect is part of the deal.
The woodshop where all the furniture was built sits by the parking area. You may hear light daytime activity from it — it's kept minimal, and the buses are well insulated.
The road is paved the whole way, so any car will do.

You're on a hillside above the Guanacaste valley, and the quiet is the whole reason people come. Lake Arenal is 20 minutes away, Río Celeste about an hour and a half, and the road is paved the entire way to the door.
There are a handful of restaurants 10–20 minutes out and a basic grocery store 5 km down the road, so most guests stock up on the way in. If you'd rather not shop at all, there's an honesty box on the property with local yogurt, eggs, bagels, coffee, craft beer and snacks — take what you like, note it down and settle up before you leave.

I was born and raised in Costa Rica. I moved to New York for University where I graduated from Pratt Institute with a degree in Industrial Design. I worked designing high end custom made furniture in Soho NYC. I then moved to Italy to get my masters degree in Industrial design for Architecture . After 3 years living in Philippines and 10 years abroad I relocated to Sabalito de Tierras Morenas, Guanacaste Costa Rica, where my family owns a dairy farm. It is here where I set up my own high end furniture line Bernardo Urbina Design. I see myself as a relaxed, chill drama free person who like to enjoy life. I treat others as I want to be treated.
