The train station for Machu PIchu is just a 15 minute drive away, from where the train takes an hour and 15 minutes (this is the fastest route)
Local taxi services are reasonable, and vans are available. Airport pick up can be arranged. With a reasonable and reliable driver that we use constantly. He also can do touring.

Let me start out with saying this is the BEST AirBNB experience I have ever had! Dee is an amazing host. I booked her cottage months before our arrival in Peru and she helped me plan our trip (like a travel agent!). She was amazing every step of the way, making suggestions on local things to do, how to book our train and tickets for Machu Picchu, the list goes on and on. She was not there the first few days of our stay but she was still in contact to ensure all was going smoothly.
She hired a driver (Miguel) to not only pick us up from the airport but tour us around during our stay. He was so great! He was on time and a great driver, please thank him again for us. This is a bit more expensive than a regular taxi you would hail, but so worth it! Safe and reliable!
Daniel her groundskeeper met us upon arrival and also dropped off fresh bread our first morning there. There was also breakfast for our first morning (so thoughtful!) Anita the house keeper was there for anything we needed!
The cottage itself has everything you need and is so adorable. We loved every single thing about it. The grounds were gorgeous, beautiful gardens and of course Sultan (her dog), who we loved! Please give him a hug from us. It is all gated so we felt very safe, safe neighbourhood as well. About 20-30 min walk to town. We recommend a somewhat fancy hotel/restaurant about 10min walk called Wayu, they have great food and a horse show for lunch and dinner.
Dee - thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You made our trip so amazing. We will most definitely be back and hope to bring our friends and family next time!
The most beautiful Air B&B I've stayed at thus far. Dee was so sweet to have Coca leaves for elevation acclimation, fresh fruit and a plethora of yummie teas available awaiting for my late arrival. Her cottage is so cozy and the surrounding grounds are beautifully decorated with vibrant flowers, trees and wildlife...you almost don't want to leave! It is a perfect quiet place to de-stress and acclimate before doing any Mitchu Picchu trek and/or relax after an exhausting multi-day hike. She was more than happy to suggest places to visit and eat and was very commutative to the taxi drivers about where to take her guests.
I will keep in contact with Dee so I may visit her and her little paradise in the future!
I stayed 5 nights in the amazing home away from home in the footfills of Urumbamba. Dee and Efrain were gracious host, with a warm smile and such great tips and tricks and useful information about the area and its surroundings. The guesthouse was amazing, with an traditional feel and modern comforts all in one. We were very comfortable and had such nice sleeps and enjoyed the grounds, the pets and the noise of nature and nothing all at the same time. This is truly an amazing place to recharge and re energenise and a great gateway to the fun things to see in the Sacred Valley. Lovely hosts, lovely house, lovely vacations! Highly recommended!!
What a wonderful place! Ideal for families and those that want space and a countryside location in the Sacred Valley. Our 2 year old daughter loved making friends with Sultan the owners dog, and checking whether the hens had laid any eggs. We relaxed in the garden watching hummingbirds flit between the trees and plants. A little off the beaten track and Urubamba is not the biggest or liveliest place but worth a visit by moto-taxi. We appreciated having the on site maid service and the fridge stocked for our first breakfast. Dee, the host, was a great communicator and organised an excellent taxi service from Cusco. We used the taxi every day to take us to the different sights. We recommend Miguel, the driver, who was punctual, safe and patient! Can't praise the location or host high enough, it really helped make our experience complete.
About the Host, Dee And Efrain
I fell in love with this area, on my first visit 20 some years ago. Purchased our "dream" land shortly after and eventually moved here to live 6 years ago (after many lovely vacations in the original restored adobe cottage) My Peruvian husband and I lived many years in the USA (I'm British). We love to travel, and enjoy giving our guests the personalised attention that we ourselves would appreciate when out and about in the world. We enjoy making new friends from all over the world, our permanent home is on the property.Creating great experiences and memories is what its all about for us. Join us for a glass of wine at the campfire!
