We had a great stay - the cozy cottage was exactly as described. Dee was a super host !! Extremely helpful and went above and beyond with helping us finalize some last minute arrangements with our tour guide. The property itself was beautiful, we wish we would've had more time to sit and enjoy it more. The cleaning lady and mobile phone was a great touch. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to stay in the sacred valley.
Before we book a place on Airbnb, we heavily review prior guest comments. Hence, ours will sound like many others. Dee and Efrain were VERY gracious in all aspects of our stay.
Note: we were a family of five (three teenagers between 16 and 18) on this trip, so traveling can be logistically more challenging.
Dee arranged for us to have access to her driver Miguel, who was readily available to pick us up and return us to Cusco and take us anywhere in the Sacred Valley - all at a very reasonable rate and in a car that could comfortably carry everyone.
The private guest home was just as the pictures showed and the main grounds were better than the photos. Dee had stocked the refrigerator with everything we needed for breakfast for our first morning. The home was clean, comfortable and quiet. The bathrooms were spacious and the showers hot. Dee provided many suggestions for local restaurants (all excellent including a last minute text recommending a restaurant in Aquas Caliente - "El Indio Feliz") and local activities.
We also have to mention Dee's staff, Anita and Daniel, who were very friendly and quick to handle small requests such as laundry. Also have to mention the puppy Bagel, a Basset Hound Beagle mix. The entire family loved having him around.
An important aspect for us as travelers is communication. Prior and during our stay, Dee was quick to reply to my email and text questions regarding travel expectations such as transportation, exchange rates, etc...
We would highly suggest that if you plan on staying in the Sacred Valley, this is the place to be.
Thanks Dee and Efrain for a wonderful stay.
A Beautiful and very nice place! Dee and everyone we met were so very friendly and helpful in every way! Ideal for families ...we had 4 adults and 3 children and we had plenty of space. A little off the beaten track in the sacred valley and well worth the stay! Best to get out of Cusco as soon as possible to accumulate to the altitude easier. The kids will love the tree house, the chickens and all the running room! The adults will enjoy the amazing gardens and flowers everywhere. There will also be fresh cut flowers for you in the house which was a delightful touch. Very peaceful to relax outside and enjoy the amazing beauty of it all. the fridge was stocked for our first breakfast which we actually enjoyed the first night. The fresh bread delivered to us in the morning was a special treat along with the elderberry jam made fresh by Dee from the garden berries. We then went the next day to the market for our food for the rest our meals. We found it better to cook in each day. The housekeeper comes daily to make the beds and touch up the house. The taxi drivers were very helpful and friendly! We used Miguel every day to take us around to the different sites and markets and also to the train station for machupiccua. He was a delight and so courteous! We also used him from the airport but needed a larger van on the return trip. That driver was very nice also. We always felt safe with both of them and also at the location! Dee will help you plan your trip and also answer any and all questions you might have about the area. She even invited all of us up to their spectacular house for the Peru soccer game. The hospitality was so warm and welcoming....that we all felt like we were at home!
I can't imagine a better set up! The cottage was beautiful. Everything was comfortable. Everyone was nice. I won't repeat all of the great reviews, except to agree with all of the positives! Dee and her husband were very friendly and helpful. Her driver Miguel was awesome! We miss him! It was a huge advantage to have him available, whether to pick us up in Cusco, tour us to Moras or just bring us to dinner. Very little English, but that was no problem.
Anita is the sweetest!
We were choosing between a four star hotel and Dee's cottage and we would choose her cottage again every time. We hope next time to have more down time just to enjoy sitting in her gardens.
Only advice-make sure to have wood for a fire each night; it's very cozy with a fire...chilly without.
Can't imagine a better place to stay in the area!!
Dee is a wonderful host and her hospitality is above par. Her house is comfortable and very nice. The bedrooms, kitchen and bathrooms are huge and you will feel instantly at home. The caretaker and his wife are also very helpful. They went out of their way to get us a fresh bread on our first morning and also filled the fridge with eggs, cheeses and ham to get us started.
Dee provided plenty of good recommendations for food and we loved all the places. We are kind of folks who dig in local stuff and we loved Pizza Wasi and Buen Guesto. The fancier place El huacatey was also fantastic. The drivers Miguel, Mario (younger one as there are two) are the ones who drove us around and they both were great and informative.
Dee also arranged for us at last minute request a massage session as we were beat after our 4Day Inca trail hike and the lady Gaby who did our massage was great. Thanks Dee!
We recommended staying at her place. Also check out Salt mines at Maras which is only 15 min drive from the house
We found such peace during our 4 day stay in this gorgeous little cottage home. Dee and Efrain have a way about details! We had great food to start us off in the fridge, fresh bread in the morning, a spotless home each day we returned, piping hot showers, and a couple of bikes to borrow. The living room and kitchen was our main place to be late into the evenings, adobe stove ablaze and videos on the sacred valley and the Incas. This wonderful property was a welcome refuge from days out wandering the ruins in the nearby countryside. Thank you so much for having us!
About the Host, Dee And Efrain
I fell in love with this area, on my first visit 20 some years ago. Purchased our "dream" land shortly after and eventually moved here to live 6 years ago (after many lovely vacations in the original restored adobe cottage) My Peruvian husband and I lived many years in the USA (I'm British). We love to travel, and enjoy giving our guests the personalised attention that we ourselves would appreciate when out and about in the world. We enjoy making new friends from all over the world, our permanent home is on the property.Creating great experiences and memories is what its all about for us. Join us for a glass of wine at the campfire!
