Our house is a 1,200-square-foot 1940s bungalow in a quiet, friendly neighborhood northeast of downtown Colorado Springs.
The upper level has hardwood floors; plenty of windows; one bathroom with tub shower; and two bedrooms, both of which have queen-size beds. A love seat in the living room folds out to a nice single bed with a good mattress.
A cozy living room with TV, DVD player, bookshelf radio/CD player and free wireless Internet adjoins the small kitchen, which has a dining table and four chairs, four-burner gas range and oven, microwave, Keurig coffeemaker, and the usual pots, pans, dinnerware and utensils.
The unfinished basement includes a washer and dryer.
The fenced back yard has a large apricot tree for shade and a small patio with table, chairs and umbrella.
Dogtooth Coffee Co. is a block to the south on the Shook's Run Trail. Downtown's shops and restaurants are minutes away. A Safeway is just a few blocks north. Organic groceries and a deli can be found at Mountain Mama's, a short drive west. And the best liquor store in town, Coaltrain Wine & Spirits, is on the way there.
Other amenities nearby include:
• Patty Jewett Golf Course.
• The Downtown YMCA.
• Two public tennis courts at Bonforte Park and more at Monument Valley Park, which also has an outdoor public pool.
• Monument Valley Park, a great spot for a picnic that sits astride a trail network stretching north to Palmer Lake, south to Fountain and west to the Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs and the foothills of Pikes Peak.
• Palmer Park, 730 acres enclosing some 30 miles of trails suited to running, hiking and biking.
Forgot your running shoes? Our friends at the Colorado Running Company are right next to The Colorado College.
Brought your bikes? Old Town Bike Shop south of downtown can handle any mechanical problems that may arise (and the owner is a longtime friend who lives in the neighborhood). If you need to rent bikes, Criterium Bicycles is just off the Pikes Peak Greenway trail near Interstate 25 and Woodmen. And if you fall off your bikes, our personal doctors at Memorial Sunflower Family Medicine have their offices two blocks to the north of the house, and Penrose-St. Francis Hospital is one block west of the Bon Shopping Center.
In town for a collegiate event? The Colorado College is just blocks away, the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs is a 10-minute drive, and the U.S. Air Force Academy is another five minutes further north.

Shannon and Patrick were wonderful hosts and their property was perfect for our Christmas stay. We would love to stay again next time we are in the area.
Shannon and Patrick have a little gem of a house in Colorado Springs and are super nice hosts. We wish we didn't have to leave!
Patrick and Shannon O'Grady are delightful hosts! Fortunately, for us, they had a cancellation, and we were able to spend two very comfortable nights in their wonderful cottage, (which is really a 3-bedroom home, including basement). Everything was there that we needed, and the personal hand-held shower in the bathtub was fabulous!! The steam heat was a real treat also! Our dog was "at home", and the neighbors and neighborhood are really friendly and quiet. You will really enjoy your stay in this comfortable house! Oh, and the washer & dryer are great too!!
Host were very nice! House is exactly like pics only cuter in person.
We were there for one week visiting family, and if the need arises would definitely stay again.
The cottage looks like a Victorian doll house,
Shannon and Patrick's bungalow is a perfect home away from home. I enjoyed my visit and Shannon's and Patrick's hospitality. The location of this rental is perfect; it's right in the center of Colorado Springs, everything is close by. The house is well kept, plenty of linens, towels and kitchen supplies. I'm looking forward to future visits.
This place exceeded my expectations! What a wonderful place to stay: the neighborhood has so much charm and is very quiet, the views are beautiful, the home is extremely comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay, and there is a terrific local coffee shop (Dog Tooth) only a block away. Great hosts that are super helpful and really nice folks! I would definitely stay there again when returning to Colorado Springs.
A sweet little house with plenty of room for our family. The host couple were lovely.
Great place and their ad is quite accurate. I'd stay here again. They quite tolerant while I was attempting to negotiate the asinine "verifiction process" of Airbnb. Kudos to Shannon!
Shannon & Patrick were great hosts, there bungalow is just wonderful, we loved the area. Could not have been as comfortable anywhere else. Thanks so much.
We loved our time at the O'Grady's bungalow! It was such a peaceful home on a quiet street. They provided everything we could have needed and more. We'll definitely stay there again!
