Okay, you don't know me, and I was totally not an Eagle Scout, but Scout's Honor when I tell you this is the most AMAZING PRIVATE HOUSE you'll find on Airbnb. We have worked our little finger nubs to the bone to make sure this house is totally bitchin'. Just to make sure, we took a poll of our coolest friends' thoughts, and have been voted Best Guest House in the City. Your new home kicks official ass!! Our friends say so!
Your new house is amazing for many reasons, the top being:
★ Two Spa-like, King-sized Beds
★ One Danish Twin Bed
★ Huge, Private Flat with Three Bedrooms
★ Secure Garage Parking!!
★ Access to Everything Right Outside the Door
★ Artwork from Local Artists throughout
★ A Take One/Leave One Book Section
★ Hosts that ACTUALLY CARE!
First, your new house is right on 24th street in the mission, which means all the culture, art galleries, bars, restaurants and cafes you can sink your excitement-seeking teeth into. We have a walk score of 98! For real! Just step outside and get your adventure rolling -- it's THAT easy!
Second, we have the house outfitted with two King-Size Beds, which comfortably sleeps nine hundred, so you can stretch out, steal blankets and run a marathon in the beds without disturbing your sleeping partner. Did you hear that? THIS HOUSE WILL HELP YOUR RELATIONSHIP!
We also just bought a TWIN bed from DENMARK, that has it's own state-of-the-art mattress on it - it's freaking dreamy.
And did I mention your new house has a room that is ELECTRIC PINK? That's right. I painted it electric pink, and hung really cool art, lamps and frames. You feel sexier just BEING in this house. Hell, Kink wanted to FILM IN THIS HOUSE! I didn't let them of course, because I knew you were coming. But that means PORN STARS want to do weird sh*it in this house - ! It's THAT SEXY!!
Oh, and for all you fellow book junkies, we incorporated a new Take One/Leave One book section. Need a new book for the flight home? NO PROBLEM - we have books in a few different languages! Just leave one of yours for our future guests, and take advantage of our stockpile. WE WANT YOU TO BE HAPPY!

See you soon, Rock Stars.
Mel and Ryan
Our guests have access to everything except the back yard - it's not ours, it belongs to our neighbor. But there's an awesome outdoor patio for your smoking and gossiping enjoyment!
Interaction with Guests
The house is all yours, and since we have a keyless entry, you'll never have to see our ugly mugs! Bonus!
If you're like Ryan and I and enjoy food, cocktails, transportation and exploring, this is the PERFECT neighborhood for you! Like we said before, the house has a walk score of 98 - everything you could want is right outside your doorstep.
Your new house is a 12-minute walk from Bart, and right next to all the major bus lines to whisk you to every major destination in the city. Want to slum it in the Tenderloin? You got it! Fancy a trip to Haight? Why not?! Feeling like dipping your toes in the ocean? GREAT FREAKING IDEA!! It's all here. You can have it all! It's totally up to you!
Other Things to Note
I'm going to update this section with answers to the most common questions I've been getting, as well as some updates on the room and house:
CAN WE HAVE AN EARLY CHECK-IN/LATE CHECK-OUT:
We'd love to, but it's really hard for us to accommodate this. Our place is rented back-to-back, and it takes a full four hours to flip the house in between guests (you've never seen so much laundry!). Plus, we like to clean the house from top to bottom with every new guest! We can possibly help you lighten the load and stash your luggage somewhere - just message me! Our check-in is 5:00 pm, and our check out is 12:00pm.
CAN WE USE THE GARAGE?
Absolutely, but the garage is TINY! It really only fits compact cars, and we're happy to let you use it if you're bringing something small. If not, there is a parking garage on 23rd and Potrero that is $12/day, has in/out privileges, and is lighted with cameras. It's the most economical parking in the city, and is only 2 blocks away from the flat!
ARE YOU KID FRIENDLY:
Due to some recent bad experiences, well-traveled kids over 13 years old only.
CAN WE INVITE PEOPLE OVER:
Please ask first. We recently had people "sneak in" five extra guests thinking we wouldn't notice. Please do us the courtesy of asking before inviting people over.
IS THE HOUSE AWESOME?:
F*cking awesome. And it can hold up to five people. There are two state-of-the-art king beds, an amazing European twin bed, and a nice sized sofa. Everything in this house is either brand new or restored vintage, and is in perfect working order. There is a flat screen television with Roku installed, so you can watch movies at night. And the kitchen has all the pots, pans, glasses and flatware you'll need if you want to cook while here. And if you notice something is missing (Where in the &%$# are the plastic bags!?!), just let me know.
IS THERE CABLE?
No. But there are plenty of bars on 24th to watch your favorite Sportsball team do what Sportsball teams do.
CAN WE PARTY:
It depends on your version of partying. Having a couple glasses of wine with your friends and watching movies = yes! Having a gallon of tequila and an 8-ball = no! We have a darling 93-year old woman who lives beneath this house. I would hate for my guests to keep her from her beauty sleep, as I'm convinced she will live forever if she just gets her rest. She's awesome, so you have to be awesome, too.
IS THE AREA SAFE?
Yes, the area is safe. I have walked all over this city and feel very safe, indeed. However, just like any city, don't be a dumbass. Don't count your money on the street. Don't walk around by yourself at 4am. Don't take a disco nap on the sidewalk. Don't tell the guy with tattoos all over his face that his chances of getting a job have been reduced by 85%. Don't do stupid sh*t and you'll be just fine.
Plus, staying in the Mission means you get all the fun of San Francisco, with all the fun people. This is seriously the best part of SF, and the Mission is known for its eateries, coffee shops, book stores, art galleries and bars. The Mission is awesome.
WHAT RESTAURANTS AND COOL STUFF ARE WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE:
Tons. See my Guidebook for recommendations
ARE YOU CLOSE TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION?
Yes, very. We are 12 minutes to Bart, which will take you downtown, and 60 seconds from all the major bus lines. You can essentially get to any part of the city from where we live. That being said, where we live is awesome in itself. We are right next to Precita Eyes, where you can pick up a great map of all the murals in the Mission. And we're next to two art galleries, nine billion taquerias, sushi, brunch places, all the coffee shops you could imagine and really, pretty much everything. You will not want for anything while staying here, because anything you need is seriously right outside. Like I said previously, our Walk Score is 98 - It doesn't get much higher than that!
CAN WE GET TO ALL THE "TOURISTY THINGS" IF WE WANT TO?
Absolutely. We suggest putting (website hidden) Maps on your smart phone, and using their awesome "bus route" option.
WHAT IS THE PARKING SITUATION LIKE?
There is secured, garage parking at the house! But like we said above, the space is TINY! Like, TINY TINY! Let me know what car you're bringing and we will let you know if it will work. There's options!
Please note all days are 1 hour parking. Also, there is no need for a car here. You can walk, Bart, bus and Lightrail it to anything your little adventure-seeking heart desires. Ditch the car and bring comfy shoes!
IS THE HOUSE QUIET?
This house was built in 1909 and it creaks like it was built in 1909. If your'e used to city living it won't bother you at all. If not, bring some earplugs to drown out the noise of garbage trucks and drunk people. Plus, the bed is so comfortable you're never going to want to get out of it, regardless of the city going on around you.
ARE YOU 420 FRIENDLY?
Sure, as long as you don't burn any of our furnishings (bye-bye deposit!), and as long as you clean up after yourself. We're totally cool with weed and the right to smoke it. But if you're a hardcore, can't-live-without-it type smoker, this might not be your perfect place.
* No shoes in the house
* Always lock the front and back door
* Please turn off heat as you leave
* No smoking
* Clean up after yourself
* No hard partying
* No pets
* No young children
* And most importantly, there is a sweet old woman below us who has been here for nine million years and is awesome. Please be quiet at night. Please walk quietly after 9pm. Don't body slam each other at 1:00am. You know, normal things. :)
And have fun!
This is a great place to stay if you are visiting San Francisco - spacious apartment with a big kitchen in a cool neighborhood with tons of bars and restaurants. Mel and Ryan are excellent hosts and were wonderful to work with, and the listing is exactly as described.
The host was always available and quick to respond to texts and calls. The area was great as we were told.
The apartment was fantastic. Spacious kitchen and massive bedrooms. The beds were amazing, we felt like we were sleeping on a cloud - seriously so good!! Bathroom was also a good size. Location is good. All in all a great experience and we highly recommend the apartment if you're looking to stay in the mission area.
This house is fantastic and clean. Location is great and Mel was absolutely helpful on everything. We used her guide A LOT - went shopping and eating where she recommended. Transportation from her house is very convenient to go anywhere in San Francisco.
We had a great time in San Francisco, and Mel and Ry's flat was the perfect base. The bed in the main room is vast, and the kitchen is a beautiful, sunlit space to sit and chat, write postcards, or eat a meal.
Mel and Ry were first rate airbnb hosts . Extremely well organised, informative, and the process was really efficient.
The apartment was spacious and very comfortable. Loved the mid century furniture.
The area is great with lots of fantastic eating places ( don’t miss the Wise Sons on 24th )
Highly recommend this apparent .
We love Mel & Ry's place. I and 3 others (one couple and another friend) stayed for 4 nights. The decor was very nice and just as depicted. The king-size beds were epic. I also appreciated the spare room with the small bed as I got in *really* late one night and it prevented me from waking my friend (I am short so probably others would be less comfortable crashing on it). Plenty of clean towels, blankets, etc.; spacious kitchen for sitting in and planning out the day; and Mel is easy to get in touch with if needed.
Location: The location worked really well for us. It's a fairly short walk (maybe 20 minutes?) to the 24th & Mission BART stop and (for us) an easy enough maybe 35-40 minute walk to Dolores park. It was also a very affordable Uber ride to/from the airport (ranging $15-27).
Nice touches: we especially appreciated the guest book that was chock full of nearby food and drink recommendations. We tried out at least three of the recommended places (a taqueria, the blind cat bar & universal cafe) and they were all well worth it. The functioning Roku was also nice, allowing us to chill out on the couch and watch Inside Amy Schumer at the end of a long day. Finally, I was so relieved that I could store my bag in the garage after checking out. I had a red-eye flight out and hours to spend as I pleased; I was really happy I didn't have to drag around my rollerboard bag!

About the Host, Mel And Ry
Ryan and I are awesome. Can I say that? No, we truly are. Most people like him a bit more than me, but only because he can drink more than I can and says things like "Let's get AWESOME!" and "Who's having SHOTS WITH ME!?".
While we used to host in rooms in our houses, we now are able to offer three full houses - one in San Francisco, and two in Portland - for your traveling pleasure. We take great liberties to make sure our homes are more comfortable than any hotel will ever be, focusing on Temperpedic beds, fully-stocked kitchens, local artwork, outdoor areas and fluffy bath linens. We have been doing this for a while now, and have a grip on what our guests are looking for: luxury while still being local. Our reviews speak for themselves - read them and feel confident in your decision to stay with us!
