Great House in the Marin Hills!

House - Entire home/apt · Redwood Road, Fairfax, CA 94930, United States

The Space

We have a great house in the woods. We are only a 30 minute drive from San Francisco (depending on traffic). We have three bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (recently remodeled), a Jacuzzi, cable TV, WiFi, computer/office, modern appliances and recently remodeled kitchen. From our front deck there are great views of the Ross Valley. It is a nice place to sit and have a glass of wine. We also have a large yard and garden complete with hammock and a tree house. There is lots of open space for those who love to hike, mountain bike or run only minutes away. In fact, we have super easy access to one of Marin County's best mountain biking trails (Camp Tamarancho). Our house can comfortably sleep six. The kids room has full size bunk bed, the master bedroom has a queen size bed and the guestroom has a sofa bed. Our neighborhood is quiet and the neighbors are friendly. It is about a 15 minute walk down the hill to downtown Fairfax where there are bars with good live music, a movie theater and plenty of restaurants with different types of food. From downtown you can easily catch a bus to San Francisco. In my opinion Fairfax is the best town in Marin!

  • Great house in the Marin hills. It has a fantastic, large, very private outdoor space.

  • Perfect place to stay while visiting Marin. Close to downtown Fairfax, which has fun cafés and bars. Central to all that Marin has to offer outdoors wise as well as restaurant wise. Plus getting to the ferry to San Francisco is a breeze(and easier than driving into the city). Nice kitchen and bedrooms. Great patios and yard. Just a nice place.

  • This is a sweet, cozy home in a gorgeous location! We enjoyed our stay at Tristan's very much. The view, the yard, the well-appointed kitchen, all helped make for a wonderful stay. It was easy to shoot into SF for a day-trip as well as to explore the awesome beauty of Marin County. The cats made us feel very welcome, too!

  • The house is a gem in the Marin hills! We used it as a base camp for exploring so many different facets of the Bay Area, from Point Reyes to Angel Island to San Francisco. Such a beautiful view from the deck and patio areas that it was tempting to just stay there with a cup of coffee all day. We hiked the local walks and enjoyed the deer and hummingbirds and the jacuzzi and stars were great at night. The house was perfect for kids and our daughter particularly enjoyed the rope swing. Once the cats got used to us, they became our companions and we felt right at home. We were sad to leave!

  • Tristan and his family are wonderful! The house sits up on a hill, overlooking the Marin Headlands. It is beautiful, and peaceful and VERY quiet. Just what I needed. Thanks for a great respite, and hope to be back next year! (Plus the fact that my dog could stay with me was a real plus!!)

About
I am a father of a 9 year old boy and 7 year old girl. My wife is from San Diego and I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. We love to travel and have adventures. We also love the outdoors and we are very active people. Our kids are enthusiastic about it all. We are also animal people. we like our pets and are happy to care for other people's pets. I lived in South America for a couple of years where I worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer. My wife taught English in Japan for three years. So, we are comfortable with life in other countries. And, we want our kids to grow up with a global perspective. As Mark Twain once said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime.”
