About This Listing
Beautiful traditional spanish farmhouse with pool, orchard, large patio, huge garden, BBQ & bread oven - all in a national park! Perfect for a couple of weeks away in tranquility and comfort.
La Plana is a beautiful converted Spanish finca set amongst 3 hectares of gardens, orchards and terraced walkways and surrounded by cypress hedges. Lovingly nestled in protected national and marine parkland on a hill above the popular town of Jávea, this is a true place to kick back and enjoy the good life in an area of Spain famed for outstanding natural and cultural beauty, idyllic beaches and plenty of outdoor activities.
That said, you could be forgiven for letting it all go by with a good book and a cool drink when you stay here.
The house revolves around a large open plan living area with deep sofas and a log fire for colder nights, while the footprint of the old house is extended by 30m of covered veranda or 'Naya' as it is termed in Valencia. An extensive citrus, olive and almond orchard is to the rear of the house, and both are perfect for a sunny day relaxing in the shade or strolling amongst the trees.
On one corner of the orchard, a few steps from the house is a 20m floodlit pool with shower and diving board to ensure that morning lengths are enjoyed under the blue sky and the fun continues after the sun has gone down. The pool gets the sun all day so if you're looking at topping up your tan, here's the place.
The other side of the house also has a more secluded sun deck and contemporary knot garden, full of local herbs and flowers. Much of the formal gardens are selected to compliment the national park around the house, and guests get the feeling of being fully immersed in the scenery.
Two double bedrooms and a twin ensure all are comfortable amongst classic surroundings of bright pine and shuttered windows, while newly renovated bathrooms and top spec showers ensure that no mod con is left out, in spite of the rat race feeling miles away.
The Valencia region is famed for excellent fish, seafood and rice, and what holiday could be without a good barbecue. La Plana is equipped for you, your friends and some guests with an outdoor kitchen with built-in BBQ, charcoal oven, electric hob and seating indoor or outdoor for ten so that dining al fresco is a piece of cake. Though if you do feel like cooking indoors, a fully equipped wood-beamed kitchen is in the heart of the house, and is perfect for winter feasts in front of the fire.
The neighbourhood is well known for its walks and rambles, ancient windmills, hippy retreats and secluded mountain spots. That said its possible to be in town on foot in 30 minutes via a cliff path, while the beach is 15 mins away by car. Supermarkets and a weekly market are less than 20 mins away.
for foodies: A paella in town is a must as is a visit to the port and its seafood tapas bars. Many guides are available in the house so guests are spoilt for choice. You're also welcome to pick fruit from the garden, so fresh orange juice in the morning is a must.
The house is somewhere that has made many a wonderful holiday and it would be a pleasure to share it with you.

Interaction with Guests
We'll let you in, give you the keys and we'll be a phone call away for whatever you need. If you have any special requests we'll do our best to set things up for you. Enjoy!
This is a special place - we are one of the few houses actually in the national park of the Montgo and cabo de San Antonio so it's quiet, comfortable and spacious with tons of walks at your doorstep. What's also great is that the bustling town of Javea is just down the road, so if you want to hit the beach, go for a night out (this is where paella is from in Spain) or take a tour of the region - it's easy.
A car is essential - bit they're cheap to hire from Alicante or Valencia airport. If you're looking for a car free trip, trains take you to denia or Gata de Gorgos and a taxi will take you up to the house.
Bookings are saturday to saturday.
This is also our home so please respect it. However, we enjoy it a lot so please have fun!
As the house is in a national park, please ensure you bear this in mind when you visit, and try not to litter in the surrounding areas. Also, it's extremely important not to have open fires anywhere other than in the barbecue and fireplace. The forest around the house is made up largely of pine and large fires start from the smallest spark.
As with anywhere we'd also expect the house to be left in the same condition as it was left in.
We will meet you at the property or at an agreed place in Javea to exchange keys and verify ID, along with any additional items requested.
You're free to use all of the main house, along with the storage in the bedrooms. However, the garage and chicken coops are off limits (for your own safety)
The house is secluded, and 99% of the time it will feel like you are the only people around, but please be mindful of others if it gets late or there are a lot of you.
The pool is great but use plastic glasses when you're out there. Also as always be careful when diving and jumping in the pool. Take especial care with your kids, and if theyre really small, use the gates on the entrances to the pool. We take no liability for accidents.
The trees in the orchard have been carefully looked after for many years. Please eat the fruit, crack the nuts, try to cure your own olives, but don't cut them down or break branches off. There's a herb garden at the back of the house by the garage which, when in season has local herbs that you can use when you cook.
A gardener and a pool maintenance person will occasionally visit to do essential work. They're both called Juan, are charming and will work around you - don't be surprised!
Shower and heating are operated via the gas boiler. Further instructions are available in the house manual, but please use the thermostat, not the boiler and remember to switch off the heating when not needed. In winter we will request a separate charge for gas as more heating will be required.
Logs for the fire are available on request, but feel free to purchase your own from the vendors in town.
Smokers outside only please. No open fires outdoors (it's illegal and you'll get arrested if caught.)
We are more than happy to help with bookings for activities and have recommendations on where to go etc.
As we are in a rural setting, there may be some issues with power and water being cut off intermittently. Usually this is resolved very quickly, so don't panic!
The house is built on an old farmhouse, which means that it has its quirks, but we've made sure that most of the things you'd expect in any modern house are there at your fingertips. If there's anything that's missing, just let us know.
From Jun 1 - Aug 31, 2015 the minimum stay is 7 nights.
This is a beautiful villa in a peaceful location, yet very close to both Javea and Denia (15 and 20 mins by car). The villa was exactly as described. It is extremely well equipped with a fantastic pool and outside space. Because of it's location and the shady naya, the villa stayed cool even in August. It is ideal for families or people looking for a relaxing holiday in "real Spain" away from the crowds. There is lots to do around and about. Child-friendly beaches, good snorkling and many beautiful walks on your doorstep. Oliver was very helpful, both before and during our stay. He responded to any questions we had promply and really went the extra mile to help. We highly recommend this villa.
A part ça semaine parfaite
Were in the villa for almost three weeks, very pleased, all fully match the photos. The owner quickly responded to all our requests and comments. District location - in a large pine forest, very quiet.
