Private, smoke-free room perfect for a weekend get-away to world-class museums and cultural attractions, business meetings or starting a new job; convenient to downtown Wilmington offices and businesses; friendly, historic neighborhood.
Welcome to downtown Wilmington, DE! My house is in the historic Cool Spring neighborhood that's quiet, friendly and a nice 6-7 block walk into town. Outside, enjoy parks for exercising and 7-8 blocks in the other direction, restaurants, coffee shops and bars.
Inside, make yourself at home in one of my extra bedrooms with a view of our city 'skyline.' I'm convenient to our outstanding selection of cultural and historic attractions including Winterthur, the Nemours Mansion & Garden, Hagley and the beautiful Brandywine Valley as well as Rt. 95 (three blocks from entrance/exit), Amtrak and buses.
If you have business meetings or are starting a new job in Wilmington, you can walk there, take public transportation within a few blocks of my house or we'll figure out another approach.
Breakfast may be included as well as recommendations for local unique cafes and restaurants.
There is a friendly cat in the house. I work from home so I have a lot of flexibility.

Other Things to Note
A recent newspaper story about Wilmington: (website hidden)_Delaware_city_was_a_gracious_host_.html
No smoking. Guests should arrive by 9:00pm.
Ed was gracious and accommodating about arrival and departure times. I appreciated the option of leaving my luggage to retrieve later. Ed was knowledgeable about the neighborhood. It's a great location for seeing the Brandywine Valley sights without sacrificing an urban feel. It was a good introduction to airbnb.
I am a med student and I stayed for a month. I was a good experience. I would have appreciated if the room door and the bathroom door could lock. Also I would be more comfortable if the host could check on the condition of the room while I was there also.
Ed was very welcoming and his place was lovely. The room was clean and cozy. The location was perfect as I walked to the coffee shop and bars each day. I hope to return in the warmer weather and if Ed has a room available I will definitely be staying with him again! A great experience!
Ed is super friendly and accommodating! He has lots of suggestions on places to go/eat/etc. Would definitely recommend staying here.
My stay with Ed was excellent. I contacted him a bit last minute as I was passing through Delaware for work and he responded quickly. It was freezing outside and walking into a warm and cozy room was very welcoming. I was exhausted from driving and he gave me the space I needed to rest and get some work done. He gave me several suggestions about the area and also hooked it up with a YMCA guest pass which I excitedly used to squeeze in some much needed exercise. That night we were able to chat little bit before getting some rest and he had some great stories. It was a pleasure staying at his place and I will definitely contact him next time I am in Delaware. Thanks Ed!
Ed was very outgoing and made me feel very welcome. Helped me to get to know the area. beautiful historical home. Very clean. Comfy bed.
Ed went above and beyond as a wonderful host! I was in town for a residency interview and he was kind enough to drive me both to and from the train and the interview. He also gave me a great history if Wilmington and the hospital. The room was adorable, clean, and comfortable. I wish I had more time to spend in Wilmington, but Ed made sure my short stay was memorable. Would recommend highly to anyone!

I'm a real extrovert so I love having guests in my big house. Come for a night or two if you have business in Wilmington or longer if you'd like to visit attractions like Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, Hagley, Nemours, etc. I work from home so I'm flexible. Most days I'll make you breakfast too.
