The Space

For the foreseeable future, only one room is available on some weekends. That room has a single bed and a rather nice LL Bean air mattress.
Regular availability will open up on July 1.
My house is located one block off Rt. 95, six blocks from downtown Wilmington, DE and within six miles of Winterthur, Nemours Mansion, Hagley; half-an-hour from the Brandywine Museum and Longwood Gardens.

Your bedroom is located on the third floor with a nice view of Wilmington's skyline. You'll be the only person up there so its private although the shared bathroom is on the second floor.

If you have business meetings in Wilmington, you can walk there or I'll give you a ride.
Restaurants, health clubs (YMCA), Amtrak station and other city amenities nearby. 45 minutes from Center City Philadelphia, one hour from Baltimore.

Breakfast may be included as well as recommendations for local unique cafes and restaurants.

There is a friendly cat in the house. I work from home so I have a lot of flexibility. My house is a three-story Victorian located in a designated historic district dating back to around 1900.

  • Ed's historic home in Cool Springs was great. He's very accommodating and the room was comfortable. He had many suggestions for cafes, restaurants and even the Cool Springs Farmer's Market. He's very friendly and easy to strike up conversation with.

    Highly recommend Ed's!

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ed's lovely and home! He was a great host and is very knowledgeable about Wilmington and its history. He helped us find bikes to rent, and also suggested we take a tour of the beautiful Winterthur mansion and gardens, while kindly offering a scenic ride there. It was a great introduction to Delaware. We look forward to our next stay with Ed!

    Response from Ed:

I was just going to write to you! You left your cup... most of my guests have left at least something, sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. Bigger news... "your" room now has a door knob!

  • I was attending a training class in Wilmington and needed a clean, quiet, comfortable place to stay. Ed provided all that and more! He was a gracious host with entertaining stories once I walked in the door. The room was very comfortable and clean and even included my own private bathroom. Ed respected my needs to study and I hardly knew he was in the house. I would highly recommend this location.

I'm a real extrovert so I love having guests in my big house. Come for a night or two if you have business in Wilmington or longer if you'd like to visit attractions like Winterthur, Longwood Gardens, Hagley, Nemours, etc. I work from home so I'm flexible. Most days I'll make you breakfast too. 24 hours notice required.
