Alma del Sol features 5 rooms, 2 suites, 3 king rooms, one is small and quiet. Each room rents separately. Breakfast is served on a sunny rooftop terrace. Witness some impromptu music courtesy of local musicians and enjoy a short walk to many of Guanajuato's historical gems. One of the suites has two bedrooms and a balcony, perfect for two or up to four guests. To enjoy the city all you have to do is open the door and there you are, ready to see and feel the city.

The space

Alma del Sol is an old stone and adobe house in Guanajuato's beautiful, historic center. Available are four ample rooms, each with its own bathroom, including two suites.

The view from the rooftop garden, bar, and dining room is absolutely grand. We are right next to a 250 year - old Jesuit Church, "Templo de la Compañía," offering an exquisite display of the magnificent architecture of the colonial period.

Alma’s location could not be better, a short walk from the University and most museums—including The Diego Rivera Museum, El Museo del Pueblo, and El Museo Alhóndiga de Granaditas. Also nearby are the spectacular Teatro Juarez and two lively meeting places, the Jardín de la Unión and the Plaza de la Paz. A number of good restaurants , serving both Mexican and international cuisine , are just steps away.

Guest access

We just fixed the rooftop garden and it's really beautiful to enjoy the great views. To have a drink or just rest and forget about the rest of the world.

Interaction with guests

I will be accompanying guests during every breakfast in order to provide assistance in planning your day so as to ensure an enjoyable visit to Guanajuato. Please feel free to ask about coordinating a spontaneous printmaking workshop; I would be glad to share some tricks of the trade!

Hugo was a welcoming & warm host. When my husband was ill, he walked with him to the pharmacy to be sure he got the right medicine. The day we left, he let us stay in the roof top lounge until our departure which was late in the day. He even arranged our ride to the airport. Hugo was an excellent host!

if you are going to San Miguel, look no further, you will have a great time at Casa Alma del Sol. Hugo is an amazing host and really went the extra mile to make sure we enjoyed ourselves and made the most of our stay during the Cervantino festival. Breakfast was always delicious. The rooftop terrace has breathtaking views and is a great place to hang out after breakfast and in the evening for a cocktail. You can always count on Hugo to provide useful insight and tips and to facilitate any needed arrangements. Plus he is very friendly, funny and has very interesting stories to tell. We will be coming back next year.

Hugo Anaya is a consummate host. He is attentive, personable, engaging, knowledgeable. In addition, he is a gourmet chef. Breakfasts at Alma del Sol will long be remembered. We enjoyed Hugo's margaritas on rooftop deck (with a view!) and great conversation. Hugo has a "gift" for getting visitors to feel comfortable. Alma del Sol is in an excellent location. Rooms are spacious; beds are comfy. We highly recommend Alma del Sol for your next Guanajuato visit!

We stayed for two nights in this historical house that has a rich bohemian vibe . The room is spacious and comfortable and the bathroom is clean and decorated with colorful Mexican ceramic tiles/sink. Every morning we walked up to the magnificent rooftop for delicious breakfast prepared by Hugo and his staff; from there the view of the church and the city is truly gorgeous. The house is located is right next to the main church of the town, which is in the center of everything; there are tons of attractions, stores, and restaurants to explore within walking distance. We arrived during the busiest time of the year and Hugo was so kind to save a parking spot for us near the house. Besides solving the parking issue which could be a potential headache for us, Hugo is very welcoming and resourceful; he is such a wonderful host that I believe most of his guests feel as if they are visiting a friend during their stay.

We had such a lovely time at this place. The photos posted on this listing were way too modest!! Rooms were filled with gorgeous textiles from around the world. The patio is the most amazing place on earth, you are right next to one of the prettiest churches in Guanajuato, also surrounded by a breathless view of this colorful city. The breakfast changes everyday, Hugo cooks up a storm!! Everything is as delicious and pretty as it could get. Come and never leave!
