About this listing
Well lit room with a comfy bed in a family home. Quiet neighborhood and easy access to highways and some decent restaurants within walking distance. Cul de sac street. Loving family. Wireless access. Near much tech! Enjoy!
Large dresser, completely empty, small stool and a collapsable table behind the bedroom door for instant office space or more luggage storage! Full closet. Ironing board and iron.
There is a noticeable warmth to the space from artistic flare to the actual vibe of the kids and I; we are very welcoming and fun people. So the space is about relationship as much as it is about being kept orderly and being well-lit, etc. It is lived in and modest and not a "white glove" experience, though we prefer that shoes be kept in the area near the front door.
Prefer you use the front door; come and go as you please. Internet access is always available and you get the access network and password upon arrival as well as a detailed handout that has all the information on your stay here. We are open to you using the refrigerator for cold storage but cooking is by request and exception only; the place is small and my office is the kitchen table for now. Laundry is available for longer stays (over 4 days). There is an ironing board and iron available, blow dryer upon request, towels/washcloths, body wash and shampoo in large containers for the duration of your stay, water glasses for brushing your teeth and in case you need to take medication. Bottled water for your first nights' stay. Good vibes ALWAYS. Life coaching will incur an extra charge! :)
Interaction with Guests
The kids and I enjoy talking with guests and at the same time, we generally do go about working or studying and can be found in our respective work/study spaces more often than not. We are happy to share out insights about the area if people want the "local perspective". Local travel maps, books and pamphlets are in the room (even though Google takes care of most of it these days!).
It's a mixed bag and getting revitalized by the day! Parking is free AND you will notice that there are at least 2 vehicles per house and not always parked in garages. My guests always find a space and always within one property lot of my house.
All the public transportation information is on the handout that you will receive upon arrival. For general reference, I am a half mile from the 55 Bus line; a half mile from Highway 101 and Highway 237; 1.2 miles from Caltrain, our hub for getting to San Jose and San Francisco. Also, of course, we have Uber here and it is awesome.
Other Things to Note
LOCATING THE HOUSE: Our street has ONE sign on it and yet there are 3 "spokes" after you turn onto the street. These "spokes are UN-labeled cul-de-sacs and all of them share the street name. The cul-de-sacs spring off to the right of the main artery of the street. We are in the second cul-de-sac on the right and will be facing you out your front window as you look through the windshield, so it is the far "corner" lot. It is a tan house and the numbers are brass and therefore hard to see. There are two beige Adirondack chairs on the front landing and there is a tall Italian Cypress tree near the base of the driveway.
Our hope is that you want a comfortable bed, a full dresser, a closet, a desk two chairs, a shower and a place to call home for a few days/weeks while you enjoy your stay in the Silicon Valley. The Silicon Valley is loaded with people and there are many choices for you as to where you can stay, so get what you need! Shop around! Air BNB hosts are a family and we're happy to have whoever decides they want to be in our space!
Please leave the door OPEN after you use the bathroom so that it is apparent that it is available. We love for people to shower before midnight as the water system is old enough that it can be loud when the water is running (for one of my children's bedrooms). No bathing pets in kitchen sink. I bus the bathroom all day for hair and love when you are able to do the same for the drain in the shower if you would be so kind. 11:00 quiet time. Leave shoes up front near the door. Biggest rule: HAVE FUN!!!!
Nice bright lighting can be modified with mini-blind. Inspirational books galore on the bookshelf! Vaulted ceiling adds nice touch to the feel of the room. Window fan.
About the Host, Jennifer
Executive Life Coach, Trainer/Consultant and former Local Government manager native to Ohio but California resident since 1987. Extremely fond of the outdoors and love to read and absolutely love being a parent. My daughter attends a Waldorf (Steiner) school and my son goes to public school. We all love to travel and the last place we went together was on a mission trip to Uganda with an organization called Watoto. Music, dance and are all appreciated as well. We are all engaged in life and surrounded by friendships, love and fun. Five things I can't live without: (kids not allowed to be included for obvious reasons)-love, conversations, nature, passion, cheese. Favorite travel destinations: Pacific Coast anywhere, Europe in the future (Ireland, Spain, England, Scottland, Austria, Germany, Croatia, Poland, Italy). Books: anything by Marianne Williamson, Pema Chodron, Oriah Mountain Dreamer, Tolle, Carolyn Myss, Seth Godin, Mike Dooley, Wayne Dyer and of late Brene Brown. Movies: unabashedly a fan of The English Patient and mostly love the genre of dramas while kids seem to like action and adventure and we all like comedy! Food: Love to use gas grill and cook on it year round because we can. Adore fresh green salads and whatever fruits are in season. We all love Thai food. Love ice cream and know where the good places are for the best home made kinds!!
Hosting: You will experience a relaxed pace and style here and a kind of refuge from the madness. There is levity and things are "chill," which is the same thing as relaxed but more "hip" to say. The space itself is well-lit and feels comfortable and airy. The entire design is based on relationships having the primary focus for the space. It is inviting and not intimidating. Friendly. As head of household I really appreciate clear communication and will model that in terms of your stay here. I can't imagine anything cooler than meeting fellow travelers from all over...what an awesome way to share the experiences we are all having on mother earth!! As for a motto, I'm going to go with this: Worthiness is our birthright and we are all precious.
