I can't recommend Ariane's beautiful Tulum residence highly enough. Perhaps the best part of this whole experience is Ariane herself, who lives on the property and is readily available to give great advice on lesser-known places to swim, eat, and play. She also makes an amazing breakfast (don't skip the eggs) and is a trained masseuse with a facility onsite (don't go to a tourist-y spa and spend way too much money). The room itself was quite comfortable, if a bit hot. Coming from cold Chicago, this was fine with me. Leave the doors open before bed to let the night air in and it helps a lot. As with anywhere in Mexico, bring lots of bugspray and sunscreen and aloe vera. Don't worry about beach towels or snorkel gear - Ariane will provide both. Overall, we had a blast and would definitely go back. The only reason not to leave this glowing review would be to keep this gem a secret...
Ariane is a wonderful host and Aerlito is located in a quiet of the town - easy walk to many great local restaurants. With only two days to explore she gave us many great recommendations and helped us make the most of our short time. Wonderful host and wonderful accommodations.
Our stay at Aerolito could not have been better! Ariane gave great directions so finding the place was easy. Ariane was very helpful in recommending places to visit and lovely to chat with in the morning over breakfast. Staying with her in town gave us a nice feeling of the people that live and work in Tulum, which is what we were looking for over the hotel/resort approach to a vacation. We had a slight problem with the water heater on the first day of our stay and Ariane fixed it right away. Overall we had a wonderful stay and were sad to leave. We will surely stay with Ariane the next time we visit Tulum!
Ariane was a great host with a beautiful property full of gardens, bungalows and hammocks. We loved staying with her and the breakfast was an amazing spread in the morning. We felt very safe in Aerolito but I must say we were happy that Ariane told us to bring in all our valuables from the car because in the morning we noticed our car had been robbed. Luckily the car was not harmed and all we lost was an auxiliary cord, a pack of cigarettes and a cubano. I would definitely still recommend Aerolito but as Ariane told us, bring everything in if you have a car.
Our experience at Ariane's place in Tulum was wonderful. Ariane has put in a lot of work over the years to create a beautiful environment with wonderfully decorated guest spaces. A beautiful garden site in the real part of Tulum! Highly recommended. The breakfast with mango and papaya was an added bonus. Cheers!
My mom and my sister had reservations about staying in Tulum as they are more used to Resort vacations, but Aerolito changed their minds. Ariane welcomed us upon arrival with tips and and perfect explanation of Tulum. Mornings are a real treat with an array of local flavors and great conversations with guests and Ariane.
Ariane is super attentive to her property, working to keep areas clean, comfortable and functional. Don't be surprised when you see her gardening with a machete as you return from an amazing adventure.
Full kitchen, fun rooms and garden hammocks — you can't ask for more in this amazing, beautiful and vibrant city of Mexico.
Your in town when staying at Aerolito so join the neighborhood while your there, neighbors are super nice and love saying hello as you pass in the streets. You can have amazing sit down dinners or pop into a shop for fantastic street food, I just couldn't get enough with my huge appetite.
You can go to any beach and get there by bike, car or scooter. The community has a warm vibe to it so you can even hitch hike to the beach as there are plenty already driving in the same direction.
It's the best of both worlds, since getting to Tulum is easy from NY it is a place I hope to return to often. Thanks Ariane, my family and I had an amaaaazing time :)
