Whether you love body-surfing or serious wave riding, swimming in safe, shallow waters or long beach walks, the beaches of the North Coast are just about perfect. This is the most accessible coastline in Australia, with national parks, nature reserves and headland lookouts
About the North Coast

On the scenic North Coast of NSW, you’ll discover a hinterland of lush river valleys and a coastline of sparkling uncrowded beaches that are easy to get to along the Legendary Pacific Coast touring route. The North Coast has some of the best, and most well known, beaches in Australia at Byron Bay, Lennox Head.

North Coast holiday choices are many and varied. tackle a real adventure as is being part of the alternative vibe at famed Channon markets on the scenic, meandering drive to Lismore.

Whale watching is also popular at many locations along the North Coast. During their northern migration, most whales come within 3 km of the NSW coast so you can see them from headlands and lookouts in national parks. Some popular spots on the North Coast are Cape Byron State Conservation Area, Bundjalung National Park (Iluka Bluff), Yuraygir National Park (Angourie Point), Muttonbird Island Nature Reserve (Coffs Harbour), Hat Head National Park (Smoky Head), Tomaree National Park (Tomaree Head at Port Stephens) and Wyrrabalong National Park (Crackneck Lookout).

Whale-watching tours are also popular on the North Coast. You’ll find a wide range of tours on offer from Byron Bay whale watching, Coffs Harbour and Port Stephens. Most humpback whales in NSW waters are actively migrating so there are strict guidelines about disturbance by vessels that could affect the animals. Humpback whales and southern right whales migrate along the NSW coastline throughout June and in the first week of July, and return southwards from around September to November.
During some of the months you will enjoy the unique opportunity to go whale watching! Often there are many dolphins around and there is great surf to be found in the area! Feeling a little more active? I have river kayak, surfboard, boogie board, donation are welcome
We are very close to an amazing lookout! 5 min walk.

This place is very unique, were ever you are in this house you have a feeling of light space and freedom because of its views then there is Kim Philipsens stunning original art work form many of his travels, it is a holiday place not to be forgotten

- Kim.

Please note: Due to the height/open layout, my house is unfortunately not suitable for adventurous children under the age of 10. They tend to be great climbers and I would hate to see them exposed to any danger at all.

  • We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Kim's house in Ocean Shores, NSW. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Kim was nothing but friendly and helpful with local hints and tips. The house itself is immaculately presented with polished floorboards, high ceilings, spacious rooms and amazing views across the NSW hinterland. Also a great location (only a few mins by car to brunswick heads or 15mins drive to byron bay) and Kim's amazing artworks are on display throughout the house too as an added bonus. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

  • We had a fantastic stay at Kim's house - it's in an excellent location, close to beaches, shops and Byron Bay, and the views are stunning. The house feels very private and quiet, and Kim was a very accommodating host.

  • This place is exactly as the title implies, 'Magic'. There are great views towards the hinterland, it's perched high on a hill and offers a perfect place to get away and relax for a couple of days. Kim was great; he was very welcoming, easy to chat to and provided everything we required. I would highly recommend this place; our great weekend away simple wouldn't have been as memorable without it!

  • Kim very kindly gave up his home for myself and three friends while we were in town for the Splendour Music Festival, which was really generous. Kim's home is really cosy and the perfect retreat for us all - we loved it, and Kim's hospitality. Ocean Shores is just stunning and so much more relaxed than Byron. I'd come back in a flash. Thanks Kim!

About
The love Guru, Kim Philipsen, Is now doing workshops, in drawing, meditation, mindful living, show ways in stoping anger, fear, hunger, stop sickness, slow down ageing. Learn to control your mind, and your addictions. Find happiness and freedom. Beat the system, avoid the dishes, and grumpy people, open your eyes and ears, find the beauty everywhere. LOVE IS ALL WE NEED. In 1964 the stars were shining bright, and a handsome little devil was born. Danish artist Kim Philipsen's greatest love is capturing the spirit, in the face of Natives. Kim moved to Spain at the age of 12 where he met many artists. He realised that he wanted to become a portrait artist. 21 years young, Kim went to the Philippines where he met master artist Rick Gonzales. Kim and Rick became great friends, and Kim studied there for 4 years drawing and painting still life, landscapes, seascapes, and so on, and so Kim learned, as they did in the old days. It was easy to travel with pen and paper, and when Kim was in need of money, he did a portrait. For 15 years he went all over the World, having a good time, doing his art, and enjoying every moment. It was during these travels that Kim would happen upon the right face at the right time and deliver a stunning portrait. Today, Kim is no longer living amongst the starving artists but rather chooses to call the community of Byron Bay, on the North coast of Australia, his home. Kim has had 2 galleries in the past, but now enjoys doing his art from home or while travelling. My interest these days spirituality, love, white light, light food, fruit, dancing gardening, reading, swimming, walking, travelling, smiling, and must more.
