Sarah's place was exceptional.
The unit had everything that a visitor would need in the Big Island (from snorkeling gear to portable beach chairs).
Kitchen is big enough to cook for 4 people, and kitchen tools are well maintained.
The only downside is 2nd bedroom as it has twin bed (difficult to sleep two on twin bed). Sarah gave us a fair warning beforehand since four of us was planning to stay; I had told her that it will be okay since we loved the location. Family of three would be ideal.
Sarah made an effort to provide us with as much as information about the Big Island for tourist attractions and they were all very nice. There's also a binder full of information w/r/t the Big Island.
The guest house is located within Sarah's acreage lot, and provides very private, entirely separate, accommodation.
I would love to visit her place again in future and definitely recommend to others who's looking for place to stay in Kailua-Kona area.
Very close to Mountain Thunder Coffee Plantation, closer to Saddle Road than the coastal locations and the temperature was easily 10-15 degrees cooler than the resort area. The neighborhood was very quiet and not too far from the action.
This was one of the best vacation experiences ever. The guest house was absolutely perfect, and was everything we were hoping for. The hosts were accommodating and gave use some great insider tips on local beaches and hiking trails. Plus the entire place was surrounded by lush jungle, so it was very private and quiet. The house was in great condition, and the kitchen was probably the best equipped one we've ever had on vacation. It takes a lot more than crummy cookware to ruin a trip for us, but it's always nice to find a place that's really treated like a home. Everything was in perfect condition, and this felt like staying in a real family home.
awesome...House is very close to nature, we enjoy in there for 3days! Sarah is so sweet, she prepared a lot of brief introduction to the local! Very helpful!
This was a really wonderful place for us. The house was comfortable and quiet; really relaxing. We kept remarking how perfect it was and how we felt lucky to have booked this place! It was 15 minutes from downtown Kona, which kept us out of the fray, and it was so easy to get to northern or southern beaches from the house. We loved the way the master bedroom felt like sleeping in a screened-in porch (but much nicer) with all the windows and the greenery and birdsong outside. The little yard was perfect for our toddler, and having laundry facilities on site was a real plus. The description is right on. There were lots of beach amenities and we used the grill almost every night!
We met up with Sarah and she was so friendly and kind; we really enjoyed staying at your peaceful place. Thanks for having us!
Sarah's guesthouse is fantastic. Everything was as described in the listing. Hosts were accessible via phone, text and email and always responded promptly. We especially loved eating breakfast on the patio. We generally left in the mornings and came back to the house for dinner. It was tough to leave. Given the chance we would definitely return.
Sarah's Big Island Guest House was perfect in so many ways; it was absolutely lovely, so very quiet and nicely stocked with a variety of things that came in handy (basic cooking ingredients, boogy board, beach towels, etc.) We loved escaping Kona to go up the mountain a few minutes to our cool, quiet retreat at the end of the day. The birds were a treat every morning. Thank you for a lovely week!
