The apartment has everything we needed to be comfortable. It is in a great location, in the city center. The decor was a little bare bones (no decorations on the walls or floors), but the building has so much potential. I enjoyed staying here very much. The internet and air conditioning worked very well and the bed was comfortable; not too hard and not too soft. Domenico and his wife were very responsive and helpful, and even helped us arrange a taxi at the end of our stay. Be aware that because the apartment is right in the center of Modena, you will have noise and potentially cigarette smoke wafting in from the street outside. This is not the fault of the apartment; you would have this problem anywhere in the city center.
Domenico's place is a stunningly restored, spacious flat in a historical palace, with elegant woodwork from the 18th century and wall-painting from even earlier. If that isn't enough for you to want to stay there, it's right in the middle of the historic center, which means everything you need is within walking distance. Domenico himself is an excellent and responsive host, who is very knowledgeable about the building's history.
The location of this apartment is very good. Our check-in process was a bit off-the-cuff, but we managed to only wait to be let in for about 10 minutes. The apartment is small, but comfortable.
First of all, the location of the apartment is really perfect! It's right in the center, there is a parking lot nearby where we left the car for the duration of our stay and then did everything on foot. The stunning market, the squares and all the little restaurants and cafes are super close. We were met by an acquaintance of Domenico's who let us into the apartment. She did not speak English but with hands and feet she was able to explain the necessary.
The apartment is really unique with very high ceilings and nice modern constructions to add more living space. We did not use the kitchen so no idea how it is to cook there (too many good restaurants we wanted to try). The beds were freshly made and the apartment overall was clean. There were room scents everywhere though, which were a little overwhelming at first, but that was quickly solved with airing the flat.
We were two couples to stay and that was perfectly comfortable, although don't all expect to take long hot showers. We had to make sure to leave hot water for the next as this was limited to the amount in the boiler. The bathroom was slightly humid, so don't forget to turn on ventilation.
All in all, a very positive feeling and we would definitely stay here again!
Domenico was very welcoming and met us right on time after arranging via text. The appartment is slap bang in the centre of Modena, about 1min walk from the cathedral, so an ideal location. Although it is not big, the space is used very cleverly and everything is very stylish, blending modern with the amazing 16th century ceiling and murals. For a unique place to stay, the appartment is highly recommended.
