Days naturally unfold between the river, the hot tub, and the outdoor spaces. Guests enjoy ping-pong, corn hole, and bocce for slow summer afternoons, or unwind in the 6-person hot tub with provided towels and glassware.

One of the property’s highlights is private access to the Chowchilla River via a well-marked trail descending into the canyon. The river includes seasonal swimming holes and quiet areas to explore, depending on flow.

Guest access
The entire property is yours to enjoy and explore during your stay. Copper Lodge is designed so groups can comfortably settle in, with multiple indoor and outdoor spaces that make it easy to spread out, gather, and enjoy time together.

Most guests use the property in two ways: as a Yosemite basecamp for day trips into the park, and as a destination in itself for slow mornings, river time, and relaxed evenings at the lodge.

One of the highlights is private access to the Chowchilla River via a well-marked trail that leads down into the canyon. Guests often return to the river throughout their stay to swim, explore, or relax by the water.

You’ll have everything you need on-site for a full stay, whether you choose to stay close to the property or venture out into Yosemite and Mariposa County.

Other things to note
WILDLIFE & NATURAL SETTING

Copper Lodge is located in a quiet, forested mountain environment close to Yosemite National Park. Guests commonly see deer, rabbits, squirrels, and a wide variety of birds. Wildlife such as coyotes, and more rarely bobcats or bears, may pass through the broader area but typically avoid human activity.

THE RIVER

The Chowchilla River is a seasonal mountain river that typically flows from October through July or August, depending on snowpack and rainfall. Flow conditions vary throughout the season, and in drier months the riverbed remains a beautiful area for walking, exploring, and relaxing.

For the best chance of active flowing water and swimming conditions, visits in spring and early summer (roughly April–July) are ideal.

FIRE & OUTDOOR USE

Outdoor fire restrictions may be in place throughout the year depending on county and state conditions. When permitted, fire use is limited to the designated wood-burning stove, and firewood is provided free of charge for guest use.

We recommend checking current conditions if fire use is an important part of your stay.
