Centrally located, convenient access to everything and contemporary appointments make for a quiet, comfortable stay in the Davis Square neighborhood of Somerville. Have breakfast, put on your walking shoes and get out and explore!
This private room is in an apartment belonging to a 3-family home that is owner/family occupied. The room, which is on the second floor, has a full sized bed with independent A/C and light blocking blinds. There are two bathrooms (one for your exclusive use, one shared), laundry and, upon request, use of kitchen. Internet access is included. There is also a closet and small iPod/iPhone-ready radio in the room and access to iron and ironing board upon request.
Sheets, bath towels, hand towels, soaps and shampoos are all provided, so you can lighten your travel load by excluding those items. Guests have access to any part of the home that you see in the pictures.
Breakfast is included, as well as coffee/tea; you should make your ideal breakfast known at time of booking so I can have it ready.
Parlo Italiano y Hablo un poquito de Espanol.
1. Do you have or allow pets?
No to both.
2. Do you have parking?
No and on-street is "Resident Only." There are other services online that you can find parking (if you REALLY need a car), otherwise this is Boston and driving is highly discouraged. There are inexpensive garages at Alewife station on the Red Line too.
3. Can I check-in really late or really early?
I would really prefer that check-ins happen before 11pm. If it's a weekend I might be more flexible, but I work too!
The room now has a TV (not pictured) and a white noise machine for those who need it. I've also added a chest of drawers.
The generally rule is: if it's in the pictures, you have access to it. I spend much of my time in the kitchen, working remotely.
Interaction with Guests
Generally, I only see guests in the morning before they head out. I'm usually onsite or next door, depending on the day of the week. I try not to get in anyone's way.
Within walking distance (1 block) are all the shops, restaurants, bars and coffee houses that Davis Square has to offer.
There are many restaurants that feature locally sourced foods and alcohol. Somerville is home to our own beer label called "Slumbrew," which is quite good!
If weather permits, I would advice people to walk around and explore. Davis Square is quite vibrant every evening.
The location is ideal for car-free visitors to the area. Public transportation in the form of subway (The T, stop DAVIS on the Red Line) and several bus lines and public bike rentals, is steps away. Zipcar is also close by should you need a car.
Other Things to Note
My home is practically in the center of Davis Square and much closer to the Red Line (subway) than is shown on the map. The mattress is memory foam style and medium firmness. All linens are washed in hot water between guest arrivals.
For those new to Airbnb, it's customary to introduce yourself and state your reason for visiting when you are booking. Also, I go to great lengths to assure the accuracy of both my profile and my listing and I ask that you have a complete profile, with a picture, before attempting to book. Thanks!
I work from home so I'll be around most of the day. Guests can come and go as they please, though I would ask if they come in after midnight they try to be on the quieter side. In winter months and when it's raining, shoes must be removed in the foyer.
**No smoking allowed anywhere on the property.
**There are two full bathrooms, but guests will be setting up camp in the downstairs bath. The toilet in the upstairs bath may be used at any time.
**No late night checking in (11pm max)
**Please do not arrive before scheduled check-in time without prior permission
**Please keep food and beverages in the dining area only, not the room (water is ok).
The TV in the living room gets local stations, however, feel free to use Netflix, or rent DVDs. Guests maintain their own room during their stay; stays longer than 6 nights will be offered a change of sheets. Ample supply of fresh towels as needed.
We could not have asked for a better host than Frank. Things that come to my mind when describing frank are: kind, insightful, thoughtful, easy to talk to. Frank goes the extra mile to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and we truly felt "a home away from home" experience while staying with him. Frank was extremely flexible about conversation, and was open to answer any of our questions we had . His home is beautifully decorated (inside and outside) and the pictures of his home are exactly what it's like. He made our stay in somerville very pleasant and I would not hesitate to stay with frank again.
Frank's place is really well-located, next to Davis station let's you experience Boston and its surroundings. The room is exactly as you can appreaciate in the pictures, spacious, comfy and neat. I'm glad I stayed at his place. I can thank him enough for his advices on how to get to places and discover the city. Don't hesitate to stay at Frank's.
I had a lovely stay chez Frank. His home is gorgeous – impeccably designed and thoroughly functional – and it is a block away from all the shops and restaurants that make up the colourful Davis Square. Frank was great at communication – before and throughout my stay.
Perhaps where Frank distinguishes himself from other places I’ve stayed is in the detail of his care for his guests. It started when I arrived – he was baking cookies and I asked him what the occasion was. “For you and your sister” he said. Made my heart melt! Bathrobes left out to use in the bedroom, coffee left out in the mornings…heaven.
A lovely mix of warmth and intelligence is how I would describe both Frank and the home he has created.
Frank trusted us to live in his house for a month. We can't thank him enough for that!! It made our stay in Boston so much better! His house is wonderful. Modern, comfortable, spacious. The area (Somerville) is very nice as well. Davis square is right around the corner, so lots of nice restaurants, places to get coffee, etc. And the T is very close as well. Frank wasn't around this time, but even on vacation himself he was always quick to respond to any questions we had. Frank, his house, the area, we highly recommend them all!
We can highly recommend staying with Frank. His beautiful home is modern, well equipped and nicely decorated. Everything is superclean. Frank had lots of suggestions where we could eat and what would be nice to do during our stay. He had thought of everything, even had an extra toothbrush for guests who would forget to bring their own. Our bed had the most comfortable (new!) mattress and Frank made sure we had a tasty breakfast every morning. Thus, in one sentence, Frank is the perfect B&B host.
I stayed at Frank's house for four nights. I immediately felt very welcome and like at home. Frank has always been very hospitable and always willing to friendly chat (he speaks Italian very very well) and give recommendations for anything I would need. The room was cozy and clean. So was the dedicated and well accessorized bathroom. The house is located in a quiet street but is very close to Davis square which is a lively location with a good variety of nice restaurants and shops. I had an excellent stay and would recommend staying at Frank's house anytime.
We stayed with Frank for 3 nights and have only nice things to say. His home is clean and beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. Frank was very accommodating during check-in and check-out and let us leave our bags there for a few extra hours. His location is ideal since it's so close to the square and subway, and Frank himself is kind and hospitable. We would definitely stay here again.

I'm one of the rare Somerville natives who has called Davis Square home long before it was even remotely hip to do so. My days are mostly spent attached to my laptop, working from home so I'll be available for any advice or directions.
I've traveled (and continue to travel) quite a bit. I'm often in London and Italy but I've been to Guatemala, Poland, Czech Republic (Prague), Spain (Malaga), Costa Rica, Iceland, Ireland (Dublin), Australia, Mexico (Los Cabos) and France (Paris).
I speak Italian fairly fluently and that comes from frequent trips and studies. I'd say my Spanish is intermediate, but I find language studies fascinating overall. I'm currently working on French!
I'm somewhat of a foodie and I do enjoy trying different beers. Boston has a very strong local beer culture that allows you to explore what good beer can really taste like! People looking for national brands will be disappointed (and possibly taunted by bartenders if you ask for a Bud).
Come check out my little corner of the world!
