The Space

A charming apartment of 280 sqft ideally located for a stay in the heart of the capital. Tucked away on the fourth floor of an historic building (without a lift), dating from 1780. For this old building, a witness to it’s times, there is no luxury, just authentic charm as seen in the timbers and tiles over two centuries in age.
You will find the comfort when you enter into the apartment, cosily furnished and equipped to welcome up to three people. The studied décor in the warm tones of the East brings out all the warmth of such a snug place. We think a traveller will love to put down his bags in a welcoming place that feels like home ... but in Paris.

On one side you have a kitchen equipped with everything you need to prepare your meals when you’ve been to too many of the local restaurants... You will find the crockery, knives & forks etc, the kitchen equipment and utensils, including a washing machine as well as some of the basic products needed to prepare a meal.
On the other side you have the living room, carefully decorated and comfortable so you can make the most of the equipment provided.

Bedroom :
To get a good night sleep after a long day walking the streets of Paris you will need high quality bedding with a 140 x 190cm double bed.
Around the bed the soft lighting, the shimmering colours of the walls and the light sheer curtains create a suave atmosphere to help get you into the right mood before drifting off to sleep.

The Neighborhood

This area typically Parisian, is nice, trendy and popular near the Marais district, the oldest district of Paris, his heart, also known for its "gay life".
Also near the rue Oberkampf and its restaurants, bars, shops ... what to spend your evenings in the festive atmosphere.
Saint Martin now so characteristic of "Paris bobo" or you end up on Sunday for a picnic with friends, rollerblading or cycling ... Canal where you can also navigate a real curiosity
The boulevard that stretches from the Place de la Bastille to the canal Saint gives oxygen and greenery with tall trees and colorful flower beds. It is (email hidden)ly area with the market very closeby (every Tuesday and Friday morning), its flea markets, and petanque players place.

Near the apartment many shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, theaters, discos, cultural sites, services ...

You can move by feet or by public transport and easy access to all tourist attractions that dot the capital, Eiffel Tower Montmartre, Notre Dame to the Champs Elysees, Invalides at Parc de la Villette, Pere Lachaise at the Louvre, without forgetting the Seine with its many bridges and monuments ... a treat!

Getting around

Easy access from the train stations and airports. I am in contact with you by email as soon as your booking is made and I provide you with accurate information access to the apartment.
I can also organize transport service.

5 minutes to metro station République and many lines that make traveling by metro very easy. Many connections with the main axes RER, SNCF, Airports ... Taxi and Bus Station nearby.

Bike rental, the Vélibs so pleasant ...

Other Things to Note

We participated at the very beginning of the adventure airbnb in Paris in 2008 and I had the pleasure to spend a day with Joe, one of the founders.
I have often worked independently of airbnb but I'm happy to be back with this apartment.

  • Pascal was a great and very informative host the apartment had everything you could think of and i'm really glad we chose his apartment.
It's close to a main metro and you can anywhere easily from there.

  • This is a nicely located one-bedroom apartment on the edge of Le Marais. Our host, Pascal, was outstanding. He helped us carry our bags to the apartment, carefully explained the features of the place, had stocked the refrigerator and cabinets with various breakfast items (OJ, yogurt, etc.), and then checked that everything was satisfactory during our stay. (This is much more attention than I typically receive. Thanks, Pascal!)

I've stayed in this area of Paris (within one block of this location) three times now, because I find it accessible to so much of Paris, lively, and yet relatively affordable. There's a major Metro stop (Republique) just minutes away with access to several lines, as well as two quieter stops nearby. In addition, there are several good restaurants nearby, as well as boulangeries, grocery stores, and interesting boutiques.

The apartment is located on the fourth floor, which was a hike the first time with suitcases, but otherwise not a problem (I'm a physically fit, middle-aged man). The apartment had enough space for two guys staying in the city. I slept on the sofa in the kitchen, which was quite comfortable. The bathroom and kitchen were both in great condition (but the shower is "compact" by American standards).

The main drawback to be aware of is that the apartment is on the corner of a major boulevard, which can get noisy. There is the usual street traffic and on Friday night there were revelers outside until after midnight. I didn't notice the noise so much (since I was sleeping back in the kitchen) as my friend in the front bedroom did. If you're coming in the summer, you should also be aware that the apartment warms up quickly. This wasn't such a big deal in March (with temperatures in the 60's) when we could quickly air out the stuffy apartment after a long day of sight-seeing by briefly opening the windows. On summer days, however, it might get quite warm.

  • My wife and I were very happy with the apartment; cute, nice view, great location in terms of getting around (and lots of great little restaurants in the area; we especially liked Les p'tites indecises at #2, Rue des 3 Bornes), and Pascal furnished it with lots of little extras (basic food items, plug adapter, laundry, stuff like that). Pascal was a very gracious host, and we thank him for helping make our trip such a success! The stairs are steep, though, and like the other reviewers have mentioned that might be difficult for some people.

The only reason I'm not giving the apartment five stars is the street noise; with the window open the traffic is fairly loud. We wore earplugs and didn't have any trouble sleeping, but if you're a light sleeper it might be a bit of a problem.

  • we really enjoyed the flat! Pascal leaves a great breakfast spread and the apartment is very centrally located. I'd definitely recommend it to a friend and would seriously consider staying there again on a return visit. Like the previous guest(s) have noted, its not the place for you if you can't do a lot of stairs - its at the top of 4 steep spiraled levels! We were 3 people and were very comfortable in terms of space as well. THANK YOU Pascal!

  • My partner and I stayed at Pascal's Rue JP Timbaud apartment and we couldn't be more satisfied with our stay. The neighborhood gave us a feel for the everyday Paris while being close enough to major attractions so as never to be a hassle. Pascal was a gracious host and welcomed us with generosity and all the info we needed. The flat was cozy and had a lovely view. It was perfect for our trip. 4th floor walk up might be a problem for some.
