Description

Nestled above San Miguel, minutes from the Jardin, are three amazing "Jewels". Three very different casitas staggered on the hillside offering privacy and a town view from inside the casita, no walking up a spiral staircase with a tray of Margaritas to go and sit on an exposed rooftop. Within this Casita, Ruby, you can view the town from your BED or from the sunken BATHTUB/SHOWER. You can sit in the living room area and watch the evening fireworks or the frolicking birds are at eye level in the afternoons from the "Jewels". These are Boutique Casitas and each has its own style, Ruby is woodsy and has the most amazing terrace, it's for people who love the "al fresco" lifestyle, love to sit and read, and dine outdoors under the stars. The glassed in, sunken tub bathroom is a luxury soak and soothes the aching muscles from sightseeing all day. These casitas are for the visitor that wants quiet serenity, a refuge from the hustle and bustle that can be San Miguel, when they return home. Our Casitas have all the modern amenities of home:
40 in. flatscreen Samsung Smart Televisions with tons of Apps as well as traditional Mexican cable
Complementary Netflix Acct for your enjoyment
DVD player
WIFI
Local phone line
Free USA line to phone anywhere in the US.

Location: In Centro, above but just less than 4 blocks away away from the Jardin and Juarez Park, across the street from the home built by Actor/Comedian "Cantiflas" and next door to famed Mexican Tenor Pedro Vargas' estate.

Topaz - Kitchenette (coffee maker/sink/fridge/2 stovetop burners/microwave oven/toaster/dishes)
Ruby - Coffee bar (coffee maker/fridge/microwave oven/toaster oven/toaster)
Opal - Full size kitchen (stove/oven, Full fridge, everything you need in a kitchen)

We do prefer weeky rentals, even in the high season, and try and work with our guests to insure their stay with us is a memorable experience, not just a bed for the night.

House Rules
Check out by 1PM

The Jewels of San Miguel are quiet refuges, a place to get away from your busy life at home. Yet the excitement of the town of San Miguel is just blocks away. We are looking for guests that are considerate of the property and others that share the property. Guests that are mindful of the property's security so everyone can feel safe and secure. Our casitas are appointed with fine decor and accents and antique furnishings, we would like guests that respect the quality and appearance of the casitas. We only allow smoking on the terraces and only the guests which have been approved may stay in the casitas. We will consider pets on a case by case basis.
If there is a major violation of these house rules and steps must be taken to evict, then the guest forfeits their payment as the casita was taken off the market for that time period. We have been fortunate so far....

Wow! The place has an amazing view. We were always glad to come back to our place after walking around town. Casita Ruby was definitely the best part about our trip. I highly recommend Casita Ruby!

Amazing view, lovely design (love the paint colors, windows, bathroom), great porch (sat out there and read every day at sunset). The entryway / courtyard is also beautiful, full of plants and art. All around this place was a dream and a great value! The kitchenette is bare bones, yes, but we were happy to do meals out given all the great food in town. As others have mentioned, it is a steep walk from town, but taxis are very inexpensive, so we took taxis home after dark. Going into town, it's a 10-15 min walk to main square. Definitely take ear plugs -- the bells can be heard all over town, but this location also has two very noisy roosters nearby that started up around 4am everyday!

Response from Bebe:
I know what you mean about the roosters, they are not nearby but you can hear them! If I ever see them in person I'll be serving gumbo that night, you know I'm kidding, but as far as San Miguel is concerned, it could be worse!

These little casitas are indeed "jewels!" The location is amazing and the rooms themselves are thoughtfully and beautifully appointed. We loved every minute of our visit to San Miguel and were trying to find ways to return even before our first trip ended! Thank you!

Good location but too small within kitchen for amount of time we spent there

Bebe is an amazing host. She made us feel right at home the minute we arrived. She showed us around the place so that we knew where everything we might need was located and shared great suggestions for local restaurants, sites and links to local SMA events. Her beautiful casita was exactly as pictured -- clean, organized, and well designed. Comfortable bed, great bath/shower, and plenty of space to move around including the amazing patio and views. We didn't feel any need to leave the place but when we did it was just a short walk to the shops and restaurants as centrally located to all San Miguel de Allende has to offer. We'll be back again for sure!

Casita Opal has an amazing view upstairs on a very spacious balcony with a bar area. The Casitas are in a great location. We were cordially welcomed by the property manager who showed us around. Bebe was always available to answer questions via phone or e-mail We appreciated the binder filled with information and a comprehensive list of places to go (including restaurants) and things to do while in San Miguel de Allende. Casita Opal was a very comfortable apartment with a great king sized bed and a full kitchen. Casita Opal does not have a lot of natural light (unless you are on the balcony), so it's perfect for sleeping in, however not so much if you like to wake up in the morning with natural sunlight streaming through the windows.

This is definitely the place to stay in San Miguel. Watching the sunset with wine from our private balcony was one of the trip's highlights! Everyday we walked down into town and hopped in a cab on the way home for $2-4 pesos depending on traffic and time of day. We spent most of the time out exploring but we loved our down time at Ruby. The fire place is nice at night too!

The "Jewels of San Miguel" is a joint partnership between myself and two other very active co-owners. One owner, Beth, is retired, the second, my sister Gay, works in the Oil Industry and I work for United Airlines as a Flight Attendant. We love the Jewels and hope to spend our retirement years going back and forth from the USA and Mexico, but in the meantime, we invite you to share our lovely casitas.
