The space

Enjoy a visit to a unique and inspiring intentional community setting in rural Dummerston, just outside of Brattleboro Vermont! This is charming bedroom in a large community house with a shared kitchen, guest bathroom with bath and shower. We have an amazing view with 65 acres of beautiful forest to explore. In the summertime there are chickens and pigs as well as vegetable and flower gardens to enjoy. The house is a unique timber frame, whole trees were used as posts and they reach three stories high! The wood has been sourced from our land and built by us over the past several years. Our road can be bumpy and is all dirt, please use caution and 4 wheel drive is strongly encouraged.

Take a look at our photos and you'll see!

Guest access

We offer a communal kitchen space, several decks overlooking the west river valley, guest bathroom and shower, Cable, Movies and living room.

Interaction with guests

We will be present during your stay, and happy to greet you in the kitchen or around the house. You might run into us over a cup of coffee in the morning, or while cooking something up for dinner. Still, we respect your visit and your privacy and try to leave you as much space as you like. We're a friendly bunch, if you'd like to strike up a conversation about local things to do or how we're working to incorporate permaculture practices on our land or just looking to borrow some salt, it won't be hard to find a willing ear.

The neighborhood

Our neighborhood is beautiful and remote. Though we are only 15 mins from Brattleboro, by the time you find us up on our hill, you'll feel like you are many miles away. We have friendly neighbors, but you can't see them from where we are, our 65 acres property gives us a lot of room to stretch.

The Outergreen is one of my top 5 favorite airbnbs! It is set atop a gorgeous hill overlooking the mountains. The house is constructed of beautiful polished wood. Our room was spacious and the beds were comfy. We even had a chance to watch the sunrise from the poarch. We had a wonderful and rejuvenating time! I highly recommend it!

Watched the sunset, the sunrise, and the star-light sky above with my 4-year-old daughter. Was so worth it!! Felt like we were back home in Ecuador.

We were looking for a unique experience in the Brattleboro area - and we found it! Outer Green met all our criteria for a fun, scenic, creative and relaxing place to stay. We had both round rooms and had a fantastic night's sleep. We enjoyed a stunning sunrise and sunset from the balconies, felt comfortable hanging out in the common areas and using the kitchen. Talking to the people who live at Outer Green and the other guests was also uplifting.

Large clean room, huge shared space with other guests. Host and Hostess were welcoming. I would recommend arriving during the day light since it is a long long driveway to the top of the hill which would also allow you to enjoy the view. I would definitely stay there again. It would also be perfect for an extended family retreat.

The house was incredibly beautiful! My friends and I couldn't get over how amazing the place was when we arrived. The exterior looks gorgeous and the interior was even more spectacular. Our host, Dan, as incredibly accommodating and stayed up to make sure we arrived safely and to give us a tour and history of the house. Since we couldn't get over how great the place was, we probably stayed up for an hour or two just probing our host on the house and admiring the aesthetics. Dan was super friendly, patient, and awesome too. The room we stayed in was everything we needed since it was a short trip for snowboarding but I now wish we stayed an extra night there to appreciate the house more and hang out with Dan and the other hosts. I definitely recommend this place to anyone if they're ever around the area as I myself hope to come back here again.

Dan was very accommodating. The house is located on top of a hill that has a view that is breathtaking. The room was spacious, had a touch of antique pieces in it. The bed was solid!

Outer Green User ProfileOuter Green is a superhost.

We invite you to experience our cooperatively-run, eco- luxurious timber frame community house. We logged, processed and constructed our home using wood sourced from our 65 acres land. We used eco-responsible materials as much as we could in construction and design including; cellulose insulation, passive solar, radiant heat, gasification boiler and many other locally sourced materials. It is a large home with plenty of common space and a really unique feel and look. We also have 65 acres of beautiful forest to explore and a breath taking view to enjoy overlooking our whole valley, also a perfect view to watch the sunrise every morning! We consider ourselves very lucky and are excited to share our amazing place with you! We enjoy growing a garden full of flowers and veggies, taking care of our two dogs, going for hikes down to a near by waterfall, reading int he summer sun and lots of other fun activities for each season!
*****Our driveway/road is long, dirt, narrow and bumpy, because of this we strongly suggest AWD ( or better) for visitors. Once you're here, it's totally worth it! :)***
