The Space

Part of a converted Edwardian property, the studio is set at the back of a family home with access via a private, mature olive and rose-lined garden and is secluded. It is fully self-contained with its own luxurious bathroom including shower and large standalone bath and a close-away French kitchenette (fridge/freezer, electric hob, electric kettle and basic kitchen utensils including plates, pans, cutlery, glasses, cups etc).

Traditional period styling with minimalist twist ensures that the apartment is both elegant and cosy with handcrafted furniture and comfortable kingsize bed. Sheets and towels provided.

The property is 7 minutes' walk from Richmond overland train station (15mins to Waterloo) and district line tube but also benefits from being close to world-renowned Kew Gardens, the Old Deer Park with its open air swimming pool and quaint Kew Village as well as the boutiques and restaurants of Richmond town centre. Major bus routes to central London and Kingston run 24 hours nearby.

  • Great location within walking distance of some of London's finest parks and gardens with easy access via the tube to central London. Really enjoyed the walk along the Thames to Richmond Hill and back through Richmond Green and town. Tess's flat provided a good base for our short London stay - much better than staying centrally as we have done in the past. The flat is comfortable and warm and Tess is a relaxed and helpful host.

  • A wonderful place to stay. Tess was a great host and made us feel very welcome. The studio was peaceful, private, and was fully equipped with everything we needed. The bed was extremely comfortable. If I am in the area for work again, I would definitely come back.

  • Tess studio is a really nice place to stay! The location of the studio is perfect (just a few minutes walking to the centre of Richmond and to the station) and the studio is comfortable and private. Tess has been very helpful with us and very caring with our little baby (he also had lots of toys to play with) We would recommend to others for sure!

  • On our recent visit to London from Australia we stayed in Tess's studio for 4 weeks. The location was just perfect with all public transport,a supermarket and several restaurants only a few minutes walk away. The studio was comfortable and spacious with a secure private entrance.Tess was very welcoming and friendly and provided us with a number of sightseeing options around London, one being Kew Gardens which was a short stroll down Kew road.On our return visit to London in 2014 we hope to once again stay in thi quaint little studio.

  • Lovely place to stay. Clean, tidy, private and quiet. Tess was helpful and informative and quick to respond when booking and very friendly on arrival too.
Thanks for having us - would recommend to others and would definitely come stay again if we are in the area.

  • This is a lovely place to stay. Tess and her family are so welcoming and made us feel more like friends. It's in a lovely spot, very handy for the tube and Kew Gardens, but a tranquil little haven. We would stay again.

The only problem we had was with Air B&B - not with them. The confirmation email we were sent had the WRONG ADDRESS and postcode on it, so I would advise anyone to check the address with your host. It was lucky for us that Tess was able to answer her phone and told us the correct address, or we'd still be looking for her!

  • A really great place to stay. Handy for Richmond tube, for shops and cafes and of course Kew Gardens. Comfortable and well equipped. A very quiet and private space too.

  • We stayed for two nights - Tess was a great hostess and the studio was wonderful!

Tess was incredibly helpful and flexible, helping us get everything we needed for our baby and lending us some toys during our stay. She was so friendly and welcoming, which made the stay a lot of fun.

The studio is really well set up - everything was clean and worked well and Richmond centre is close by and Central London about half an hour on public transport. The garden is the icing on the cake!

Independent film-maker working mainly in London and Prague with young family. Love my rose garden, my high-powered MacBook Pro that lets me do almost anything almost anywhere, and my family (obviously not in that order.) I also love pitching up in new places at a moment's notice and living like the locals, the simpler the better. Am pretty relaxed as a host, consider my home a place of sanctuary and love to share it with like-minded others. Into quality, not so interested in effect. My current life motto is probably closest to E. M. Forster's "Only connect".
