Our high-ceilinged, ground floor Victorian period apartment with direct access to a stunning communal garden is situated on a leafy residential street just 100m from world-famous Portobello Market and an array of boutiques and fine dining eateries.
Our spacious bedroom (with double doors to the sitting room) has a very large bay window and en suite bathroom
This exceptional raised ground floor Victorian period town house apartment is located just off Portobello Road in the heart of W11 (the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea, in contrast to the many properties advertised as "Notting Hill" that are actually located in Bayswater or other adjacent, less desirable postcodes). Some 60m from the world famous Portobello Market, our property is a very elegantly furnished one-bedroom apartment with direct garden square access that can sleep up to four people thanks to a large sofa that becomes a well-sprung double bed.
With 3m high period ceilings and very large, shuttered bay windows the property’s substantial bedroom affords truly stunning views of the 100 x 30m communal garden at the back (with direct access). The highly finished shower & bathroom is conveniently en suite, while the kitchen is fitted with a high quality oven, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, toaster, ground coffee machine etc. The apartment’s similarly spacious reception room offers comfortable & elegant dining and relaxation with high speed WiFi, a large Samsung LED cable television and BOSE entertainment system. There is also a well stocked library and an array of art work.
The local area has an unrivalled choice of first class restaurants and boutiques, as well as a very wide selection of food & wine and other local shops a stone's throw away.
Both Notting Hill Gate and Ladbroke Grove Tube stations are within easy walking distance, while several mainline bus routes are located some 40m away, all of which offer speedy and easy access to London's other major shopping and cultural districts.
In short, our apartment is in the best area of London for those seeking bohemian chic and every conceivable amenity and convenience. As our many first class reviews attest, this is the real thing and you will not be disappointed!
Raised ground floor access to the apartment's front door via the main house door. Direct access thorough the house's staircase to our stunningly beautiful communal garden
Interaction with Guests
I personally communicate with all our guests and generally meet them in person upon arrival.
Our apartment is very well served by public transport, while taxis are very easy to come by on our corner (including the in the evening), given all the nice restaurants and boutiques nearby. The 52, 452 and 23 buses all go to the centre of town from the bus shelter 50m from our front door. Ladbroke Grove tube (subway) station is 5mins walk while Notting Hill is 10mins. Both are main lines going into the centre.
No pets or animals please. Full rubbish / trash bags need to be deposited in the front basement area outside in the large green, council rubbish collection bins. Please use the black bags for waste and non-recyclable refuse and the clear orange bags for recycling (both kinds are stored in the cupboard above the oven). Please be considerate to our neighbours by not playing music too loud or too late (i.e. after 11pm).
An awesome and stylish apartment. Everything was just perfect. Great beds, great bathroom, perfect kitchen, lots of inspiring books, a perfect and nice host, and a perfect location just in the middle of Notting Hill. perfect size for my family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Have recommended the apartment to all of my friends. Thanks Tom for renting your apartment to us. It was a great stay.
We stayed at Tom's flat for an unreal 20 days and, honestly, we were thinking of tying ourselves to the desk in protest to our leaving. This is such a beautiful apartment, nestled in the heart of Notting Hill and only a seconds walk from the infamous Portobello Road. Although we weren't able to meet Tom, his stepfather patiently waited almost an hour for us to pick up the keys (transport delays). Notting Hill Gate tube station is approximately 10 minutes walking distance whilst Ladbroke Grove tube is around 5. Bustling market on the weekend at your doorstep with fruit and veg stalls staying during the week to provide for locals. The apartment has an amazing television system (if that is important to you) - we watched re-runs of Jamie Oliver's 30 minute meals. Dishwasher and laundry saved our lives over such a lengthy stay. The bed was so comfortable! We could not have hoped for more.
We have now officially sworn that whilst on holiday, we can't stay anywhere that is of Tom's apartment's standard...it just makes it too depressing to leave.
Tom's flat was stylish and comfortable. It is a very convenient spot just 2 minutes from Portobello Road and Notting Hill is a charming area. Tom was very helpful and friendly.
A beautiful flat, everything in it worked well, and a fantastic location. Communication the only shortcoming - early access and key collection not confirmed before we set off from Australia ... but it all worked out well in the end. Tom had arranged pick up at the airport, we were able to check in early, and driver had the key! Much appreciated Tom agreeing to vary check-in/out times, as Australian flights are at ungodly hours. Will definitely choose to stay at Tom's again.
Tom was a great host and I had a wonderful time staying at his lovely Notting Hill apartment. The apartment was great and the location was perfect!
Tom and Ries place is perfectly located and their place had everything we needed. We arrived 4 persons as arranged, but there was only bedding for 2, this was however swiftly adressed and we enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere in and around the apartment. I would definitely recommend a stay at Toms place.
I am a half English half French entrepreneur with a strong interest in East Africa where I have set up a boutique hotel Matemwe Bandas, with very capable local partners in Zanzibar, Tanzania. All of our team, including our young apprentices come from Matemwe, as do all of our employees & partners. We are of the village and for the village.
As a consequence, my Japanese wife and I travel a good deal, hence our home being available to Airbnb travellers. As a host we like to create a welcoming, homely and elegant atmosphere with a real focus on style and detail.
