About this listing
This relaxed and comfortable shared space will put you in the heart of Austin. I'm half a mile from the TX capitol, walking distance (~20 min) to 6th st., and right next to the UT campus. I have plenty of recommendations--just ask!
Hi! Thanks for considering staying at my place.
I live across the street from the UT campus and a block from the AT&T Conference Center, and am about a 10-15 minute walk to the capitol (half a mile). Sleeping accommodations include a fold out futon (with a memory foam pad) and a green couch (really comfortable), which allows the room to fit up to two people (three if needed--there's an air mattress). There is a bathroom (with shower and tub), enough towels for everyone, and a washer/dryer. I have free wi-fi. The building also has a pool that is open year round. Parking is free after 6pm on the streets around my building. You can also get garage parking for $6/day a few blocks away.
The kitchen is well stocked and you're free to use it (save money by eating in!). The unit is within walking distance of downtown and is near a number of cheap restaurants and shops on the "Drag." Busses run very close to my building (catch one going downtown at 16th and Guadalupe) and can take you anywhere around town fairly easily--it's $2-3 for a 24 hour pass.
I'll be in and out, going to classes, doing homework, cooking, etc. I'm pretty relaxed and can give you advice on what to do in Austin, if you'd like.
You'll have a set of keys and can come and go as you please.
We'll be sharing the apartment
Interaction with Guests
It's a shared space, so I'll be around pretty frequently. I'm happy to get lunch with you or whatever if our schedules match up. But it's totally cool if you want to do your own thing.
I love being close to downtown but out of the craziness of 6th and the traffic there. My place is really convenient if you're doing things on the UT campus, and there are plenty of cheap places to eat nearby. The view out of my window is looking downtown. There's a great coffee/Tex-Mex place a block away, the TX Chili Parlor is down the street, a few great bars, and there are bus stops a couple blocks away.
There is a bus stop and B-cycle station 1.5 blocks from my building.
Other Things to Note
parking: go to the parkme website for nearby parking garage options. The street is free after 6pm and until 8am.
The building does not allow smoking, noise is tolerable to a reasonable level, you should clean up messes as they're made, have some fun, take it easy.
Tyler was a perfect hosts very helpful and really cool, his apartment is perfect, everything is clean and tidy. Services such as a hotel. I highly recommended this place
Thanks Tyler for your hospitality! Your knowledge of the city and its attractions is always very usefull!! Austin is a great city and you contribute, in your way, to make it even better!!!
Tyler was very hospitable!! It was easy to get in &out of his building to explore the city. Tyler is a nice guy and his apartment is very well kept. I'd stay there again if I was in Austin.
Tyler was a great host - very accommodating and friendly. Bed was comfy. Everything was clean and tidy. Couldn't have asked for better.
Tyler is a great guy! The place is amazing and in a great location. I'd definitely stay there again.
Tyler is a great guy who has space in an ideal section of Austin, in easy walking distance to the Capitol, UT and is near downtown. The space is pleasant and Tyler is most agreeable with the use of shared space. My experience was very positive, I hope to book this space in the future and strongly recommend Tyler and his space. He provides a rich intro to Austin.
Tyler was a great host. I was able to come and go as I pleased which was nice since we had very different schedules. I also was able to use the kitchen which was really nice since I did not want to have to eat out often. The apartment is quaint and homey. I was grateful for the set of ear plugs he provided since I am from the country and am not used to city noises. We had a few chats while I was there and he was great to talk with. I would definitely stay with him again if I went back to Austin

About the Host, Tyler
I'm a recent UT grad with a degree in supply chain management and sociology. I'm currently working at the Capital Area Food Bank . I care a lot about people having a fair chance and about not wasting the resources we have. I also love to read, explore the world around me (hiking, running, urban exploration), people watch, and generally try new things.
As far as hosting goes, I'm quite relaxed. I prefer to give you a set of keys and basically make you a temporary roommate. Come and go as you please, just keep me posted if any of your plans involve the apartment.
If you stay at my place, I want you to have the best experience possible. If there's anything I can help with or questions I can answer, please ask and I'll do my best to answer.
