Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine.
Sometimes, though, guests check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
I travel a good bit for work & fun, but if I am gone, there is always a "concierge" on site.
Hyde Park is one of the favorite neighborhoods in Austin. Most homes date from the 1920s and there are large established trees. The neighborhood contains Central Market North for gourmet groceries & Wheatsville food co-op for your hippie fix.
There are also many great restaurants such as VinoVino, Asti, Julio's, Uchiko, Tacodeli, Zen. In addition, it is just north of UT Campus.
Right on the #1 or #5 city bus routes or UT's free shuttle.
It is possible to walk to restuarants, shops & grocery stores. For getting further around town look into (website hidden)
From the airport: Supershuttle is @ $14 & is a shared ride with usually 2 other stops.
Taxi is @ $25-30.
There is a City bus 101 that costs only $1 but is slow. The route ends about 1/4 mile from here or you can connect to the 1 or 5.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The cabin is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!
* Please note that during the weekdays from 8-5 on street parking requires a permit. The off street parking spot may be more convenient.
* Please smoke outside only & kindly use an ashtray.
* Please feel free to use any of the outdoor spaces, including hammock, dining table & trampolene.
* There is a composting bin if you wish to use it, as well as recycling containers.
I loved Tracy's cabin! It was just what I was looking for! It is in a great location! Within a 5 mile radius of so many things!
The neighborhood was perfect, quaint and in perfect Austin form. Everything was perfect, small zen tiny cabin was exactly what it was!
I didn't get to meet Tracy when I arrived, but the directions she gave me to get to the cabin were very helpful and I was able to find it fairly easily. The location is in a nice residential area with a few shops and restaurants close by and lots of the neighbors looked like students, and it's only a couple minutes' drive to get back on the main roads to get to the downtown area.
The cabin was just as pretty as the pictures, and perfectly comfortable for one person with AC, a mini fridge, coffee/tea, and a full bathroom. There are curtains and or blinds on all the windows so you can have your privacy as well.
One thing to keep in mind: the cabin is in the backyard, so there are mosquitoes and other bugs to keep an eye out for while going in and out.
I really liked the space and it was a great value for the location!
Tracy is a wonderful host! I really loved the cabin. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape after enjoying the city.
This place was fantastic and exactly what I was looking for. I was in town visiting with some friends and needed a cozy place to rest my head. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was fantastic. There was even a little coffee maker and fridge so I could have a couple snacks. Check-in was a breeze and Tracy made me feel completely welcome. This place was zen indeed! Would definitely recommend and absolutely will stay here again if I'm ever back in Austin without my family.
I absolutely loved this Zen cabin! It was well kept, perfect size, clean and tucked in a lovely garden area. I was in town for a business conference and could really rest and renew when I returned back to the cabin. It was a lovely neighborhood with restaurants and coffee shops within easy walking distance. I didn't want to leave this cabin! I can't wait to come back.
I had a very easy and pleasant stay. The cabin was not as small as I expected, and was very comfortable. I did not meet the hosts, but the communication was easy and straightforward.
