Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine.
Sometimes, though, guests check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
I travel a good bit for work & fun, but if I am gone, there is always a "concierge" on site.
Hyde Park is one of the favorite neighborhoods in Austin. Most homes date from the 1920s and there are large established trees. The neighborhood contains Central Market North for gourmet groceries & Wheatsville food co-op for your hippie fix.
There are also many great restaurants such as VinoVino, Asti, Julio's, Uchiko, Tacodeli, Zen. In addition, it is just north of UT Campus.
Right on the #1 or #5 city bus routes or UT's free shuttle.
It is possible to walk to restuarants, shops & grocery stores. For getting further around town look into (website hidden)
From the airport: Supershuttle is @ $14 & is a shared ride with usually 2 other stops.
Taxi is @ $25-30.
There is a City bus 101 that costs only $1 but is slow. The route ends about 1/4 mile from here or you can connect to the 1 or 5.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The cabin is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!
* Please note that during the weekdays from 8-5 on street parking requires a permit. The off street parking spot may be more convenient.
* Please smoke outside only & kindly use an ashtray.
* Please feel free to use any of the outdoor spaces, including hammock, dining table & trampolene.
* There is a composting bin if you wish to use it, as well as recycling containers.
Tracy was very accommodating from our first messages. When I arrived, she and her niece were working to attach a headboard to the bed. This is a testament to how important it is to Tracy that one's stay be as good as possible; it is clear that she tried the make her zen cabin a great value. Tracy was great to talk to when I had the opportunity (like after I was finished jumping on her awesome trampoline). I hope that I can stay here again on a future trip to Austin.
One not about this listing is that it is truly only for one person; having a second person would not be tenable. Tracy makes this clear in the listing, so I am simply adding a voice of affirmation that it is truly an individual-person listing.
This was my first time using Airbnb and I couldn't have been more pleased with the outcome.! Tracy was easy to work with and very welcoming! The cabin is exactly as described and perfect for a one person getaway! Quiet, relaxing, and within walking distance of good places to eat and hang out.
This was my first Airbnb stay and was a great way to get introduced to the concept. Tracy was very welcoming both leading up to and during my visit. She greeted me when I arrived and was available for check-ins and requests during my stay. She also provided good tips for local places to eat/drink.
The cabin is set in her backyard (with trees wrapped in lights at night) and I said hi to her family and friends as I came in and out from the street. It is a good size for someone who mostly needs a place to crash. I slept great and had no problems with the facilities. Easy walk to UT, parks, cool places to eat.
I loved my experience at the Tiny Zen Cabin! I used to lived in the neighborhood 20+ years ago, so it was nice to have a place to explore from that is so deeply integrated into the community. The place is beautiful and incredibly clean. It's just the right size for a solo traveler who wants to see what Austin living is like :-)
The cabin was terrific. It functioned as a perfect home base for my time in Austin. The location is only a 10 minute drive to downtown but if very quite and private and I got great sleep. I will definitely be keeping this one in mind the next time I'm in Austin as well as recommending it others.
The Zen Cabin was wonderful. It's in a lovely little corner of Austin. I didn't expect the spacious garden, with lots of peaceful outdoor seating, hammock, picnic table to do early morning writing. The cabin is plenty spacious for one person. Tracy made check in and out very easy. Parking was no problem at all. The neighborhood is lovely, within walking distance of tons of restaurants and stores on Guadalupe, and a short 10 min walk from the UT campus. If you take the airport shuttle to the UT campus, you could do the whole trip without renting a car.
