Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine.
Sometimes, though, guests check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
I travel a good bit for work & fun, but if I am gone, there is always a "concierge" on site.
Hyde Park is one of the favorite neighborhoods in Austin. Most homes date from the 1920s and there are large established trees. The neighborhood contains Central Market North for gourmet groceries & Wheatsville food co-op for your hippie fix.
There are also many great restaurants such as VinoVino, Asti, Julio's, Uchiko, Tacodeli, Zen. In addition, it is just north of UT Campus.
Right on the #1 or #5 city bus routes or UT's free shuttle.
It is possible to walk to restuarants, shops & grocery stores. For getting further around town look into (website hidden)
From the airport: Supershuttle is @ $14 & is a shared ride with usually 2 other stops.
Taxi is @ $25-30.
There is a City bus 101 that costs only $1 but is slow. The route ends about 1/4 mile from here or you can connect to the 1 or 5.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The cabin is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!
* Please note that during the weekdays from 8-5 on street parking requires a permit. The off street parking spot may be more convenient.
* Please smoke outside only & kindly use an ashtray.
* Please feel free to use any of the outdoor spaces, including hammock, dining table & trampolene.
* There is a composting bin if you wish to use it, as well as recycling containers.
I had a very easy and pleasant stay. The cabin was not as small as I expected, and was very comfortable. I did not meet the hosts, but the communication was easy and straightforward.
Tracy's instant book option was awesome as I was needing a place last minute and the listing looked perfect. The tiny zen cabin was just as I pictured it and felt very peaceful. Tucked away in the garden, I enjoyed meditating, reading, light yoga, and relaxing. You will need to use the bug spray and be clean/keep snacks in the fridge because there are garden mosquitos/ants/spiders around the cabin, but I managed just fine. The shower is great and the bed is comfortable. The location is good too, just a block from a local cafe, Japanese food, natural grocery stores, Starbucks, and the bus stop. I loved my solo retreat at the zen cabin.
Tracy contacted me before my trip so we could arrange for the details of my arrival and give me directions to her location. She was incredibly helpful and it was an easy trip. The cabin was exactly perfect, quiet and private. It was in a fantastic neighborhood with several shops, coffee shops and cafes a walkable distance. If I'd had a bike I would not have used my car for visiting UT campus. It's a great place in a great location.
This is a wonderful place to stay: quiet, simple and leafy. Everything you need is there, a comfy bed, a shower, somewhere to sit & write, and shops within walking distance. I'd certainly return.
The cabin was as described and perfect for my needs. As a vegan, this was an easy walk to several great food places and was near a few different bus lines for getting around. I loved having the mini fridge for storing snacks and maple pecan nut milk in! I got to meet Tracy, who was lovely. The bed was comfy and the shower was excellent. I would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful experience staying at Tracy's place--she made the check-in and out process very easy and the cottage was extremely clean and comfortable. Very centrally located in a cool part of Austin. Would gladly stay here again!!
