A wonderful little retreat right in the middle of Austin. The cabin is only 180 sq ft but has everything you need. Twin bed with 400 thread count sheets, fine towels, coffee & tea setup. While very simple, it is about half the price of a hotel.
The "Zen Cabin" is a tiny 180 sq ft hideaway & is perfect for ONE person. It is a serene, quiet space (heavily insulated soundproofing) right in the center of town: Hyde Park just north of UT. There is a full bathroom and twin bed, and it is adjacent to a large garden with many seating options that are you are welcome to use. There is also an Ipod docking station for music.
I look forward to hosting you!

Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine.
Sometimes, though, guests check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
I travel a good bit for work & fun, but if I am gone, there is always a "concierge" on site.
Hyde Park is one of the favorite neighborhoods in Austin. Most homes date from the 1920s and there are large established trees. The neighborhood contains Central Market North for gourmet groceries & Wheatsville food co-op for your hippie fix.
There are also many great restaurants such as VinoVino, Asti, Julio's, Uchiko, Tacodeli, Zen. In addition, it is just north of UT Campus.
Right on the #1 or #5 city bus routes or UT's free shuttle.
It is possible to walk to restuarants, shops & grocery stores. For getting further around town look into (website hidden)
From the airport: Supershuttle is @ $14 & is a shared ride with usually 2 other stops.
Taxi is @ $25-30.
There is a City bus 101 that costs only $1 but is slow. The route ends about 1/4 mile from here or you can connect to the 1 or 5.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The cabin is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!
* Please note that during the weekdays from 8-5 on street parking requires a permit. The off street parking spot may be more convenient.
* Please smoke outside only & kindly use an ashtray.
* Please feel free to use any of the outdoor spaces, including hammock, dining table & trampolene.
* There is a composting bin if you wish to use it, as well as recycling containers.
A repeat visit to this charming little place. Owner is most welcoming with emails before and contact info while you're there. Good info sheet on the desk with maps and neighborhood suggests for dining, pharmacy, bus, etc. Quiet location yet totally accessible to main street with bus and dining and market. Interior is very cozy/small yet adequate with desk, WiFi, separate chair and wardrobe (as you can see in the photo). Clean and great bed/soft sheets. This is my "home away from home" in Austin!
The cabin was a great place to stay. Cute little room with nice Asian accents. Small but perfect for what I needed. Shower was clean and spacious. Located in an adorable backyard w/ nice lighting, a hammock, a trampoline, and patio table. Walking distance to lots of food places, bars. 10-min drive to downtown Austin. Tracy was very accommodating. Communication w/ her was always easy. I saw her the 1st day I was there and that was it. There is a cabinet w/ teas and coffees. I spent most of my time downtown and was there just to sleep and shower. Highly recommend.
I had a great experience at the Tiny Zen Cabin. Tracy has thought of all of the amenities and the space was very comfortable and clean. She was very accommodating. I also enjoyed the backyard space and the convient location that helped provide me with a great experience of Austin!
Great place and location. Parking was easy and overall a great place. Highly recommend.
Tracy was a wonderful and attentive host, full of suggestions about the neighborhood, which was so cute with many great spots. The cabin is perfect for a weekend, solo stay and the garden on the premise was beautiful and very relaxing. It got a bit humid/damp at times inside the cabin, but I guess that's Austin weather!
Tracy's cabin is a great place to stay, very clean and comfortable. Tracy had it ready and no glitches getting in. The location is terrific- quiet and convenient.
The Zen Cabin is the perfect place to stay in Austin. Tracy is friendly and accommodating, but the cabin is separate from the house, so completely private.
The shower is great and the bed is comfortable. There's a fridge with refreshments and tea/coffee making stuff. The Japanese-inspired decor is tasteful and there's wifi!
