The Space

The "Zen Cabin" is a tiny 180 sq ft hideaway & is perfect for ONE person. It is a serene, quiet space (heavily insulated soundproofing) right in the center of town: Hyde Park just north of UT. Walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants and grocery stores. 10 minute walk to UT. Bike distance to downtown.

There is a full bathroom and twin bed, and it is adjacent to a large garden with many seating options that are you are welcome to use. There is also an Ipod docking station for music.

I look forward to hosting you!

Guest Access

Please take advantage of the outdoor spaces: hammock, dining table, chairs, trampolene.

Interaction with Guests

It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine.
Sometimes, though, guests check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.

The Neighborhood

Hyde Park is one of the favorite neighborhoods in Austin. Most homes date from the 1920s and there are large established trees. The neighborhood contains Central Market North for gourmet groceries & Wheatsville food co-op for your hippie fix.
There are also many great restaurants such as VinoVino, Asti, Julio's, Uchiko, Tacodeli, Zen. In addition, it is just north of UT Campus.

Getting around

Right on the #1 or #5 city bus routes or UT's free shuttle.
It is possible to walk to restuarants, shops & grocery stores. For getting further around town look into (website hidden)

From the airport: Supershuttle is @ $14 & is a shared ride with usually 2 other stops.
Taxi is @ $25-30.
There is a City bus 101 that costs only $1 but is slow. The route ends about 1/4 mile from here or you can connect to the 1 or 5.

Check In
  • Terrific stay. Host was very easy to deal with and very responsive.

The place is small, but perfect for one person. Back yard is big and great, with comfortable places to sit and use the internet (or enjoy nature). It's exactly one mile from the UT campus. Walking distance to stores and restaurants.

  • Tracy's Tiny Zen Cabin was great! Cozy, clean, and nicely furnished. The backyard patio area is also spacious, beautifully designed, and very conducive to quietly reading or to socializing. Tracy made the experience stress-free by being polite, helpful, and prompt in response. I would definitely recommend the Tiny Zen Cabin to others looking for a simple but nice place to stay!

  • Tracy was very accommodating, the cabin was perfect for one person, which the posting indicates. I was visiting my daughter at the University of Texas, I was out of the cabin early & back relatively late, the cabin is in a residential area with a rustic setting, I will definitely check to see if the cabin is available on my next trip.

  • Tracy was very friendly and helpful. She upgraded me to a different room (a studio with kitchen etc) so I can't really review the Tiny zen cabin. The other room was nice, though.

  • The Tiny Zen Cabin was a restful place to return to after my workshop ended each day. It was comfortable and clean and had a nice ambience. The neighborhood was eclectic and there were numerous great restaurants, etc within walking distance. Tracy was helpful when I had questions, but not obtrusive. I would definitely stay here again.

  • I stayed in Tracy's lovely cabin for a conference and it was perfect! Clean, comfy bed, tea and coffee for the morning, a little fridge for breakfasts and close to shops and other places in Austin. The wifi was a bit spotty but worked fine from most parts of the cabin. Her backyard area was amazing and it was great to call this place home for a few days.
