Private Room in Heritage building!

Apartment - Private room · Broughton Street, Vancouver, BC V6G 2A6, Canada

Our spare room comfortably sleeps two and is centrally located on a quiet street, just a few blocks from the beach. Enjoy getting to know Vancouver on foot, close to anything and everything!! We are very friendly and look forward to hosting you.

The Space

BUILDING AND LOCATION:
Our 1100sq ft Apartment is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, in the West End on a tree lined quiet street. We are only minutes away from the beach, the seawall, the art gallery, historic gastown, trendy Robson street and many pubs and clubs. You seriously won't need to cab, or drive! but if you are looking to get out of downtown the Skytrain is only a 10 minute walk away.

The apartment is very large for the location and can easily accommodate another couple, without feeling cramped. The building is a rare heritage building, approximately 110 years old! There is a washer and dryer in the building for your use. We guarantee freshly laundered bedding, towels & a clean apartment! Unfortunately, we cannot provide toiletries, so you will need to bring your own.

THE ROOM:
The room has a dresser and a desk for your use. The bed has a thick foam mattress, but is soft and has gotten nothing but good reviews from our guests. You can slide the bed against the wall for more floor space or keep it in the middle for easy access on both sides.

WIFI:
We have Wifi! Woohoo! The password will be provided when you check in.

PARKING:
Parking in downtown Vancouver can be a bit tricky!! There is 2 hour parking only until 9pm, then it's free all night until 9am, when it goes back to 2 hour. If you park more than two hours you will probably get a ticket. We suggest you don't drive (since you won't need a car to get around the area) but if you do end up driving be aware that you may need to search for parking for a little bit. There is a 24 hour parkade nearby, but we are unsure of the cost.

ABOUT US:
We are an engaged couple who enjoys going out, we both do shift work so our schedules are a bit wonky, but we are easy to get a hold of. I work in health care and my partner works at a pub up the street. We are gay friendly. We have two very friendly and clean cats, Roxy & Felix, but they are never allowed in the room you rent - we like to keep it cat free for our guests. We have both lived in Vancouver our entire lives and can show you the best places in the city for eats and treats, or how to find your way around. Drop us a line if you have any questions!

*note: if you are looking to book August 11-20th, there is a price increase as you will be booking the entire 2 bedroom apartment for $115 a night, as we will be our of town*

We look forward to having you!

Guest Access

You are free to use anything in the apartment, kitchen, living room, dining room. We do not have cable, but free wifi for your Netflixing & interweb needs.

Interaction with Guests

We both work strange schedules, sometimes we are gone all day or gone all night depending on the shifts we are working. Therefore, you with either see lots of us, or very little. However, we ensure to always be available via email or phone if you have any concerns, and we will be very happy to chat when we cross paths :)

The Neighborhood

The neighbourhood is very unique. It is a quiet tree lined street, that you would never expect to find in the middle of a major city. Therefore, you get to stay in the city without all the noise and riff-raff. We are very close to pubs, bars, beach, stores and high end shopping.

Getting around

Getting around downtown Vancouver from where we live is as easy as walking out the front door. However, if you wish to venture further, the skytrain is 10 minutes away and we are 2 blocks from the bus.

Other Things to Note

Let us know if there is anything you any need, or any questions you have while staying. We have found that many people simply want to be left alone to wander the city and crash in their room, while others are more social with us and like recommendations. Just let us know! :)

  • Jackie and Angie seemed great and their apt is very comfortable. We did not have time to get to know each other but they were certainly helpful and and efficient and friendly. The neighborhood is a high point--fairly dense but not high rise and very close to shopping on Davie Steet and wandering through Stanley Park. It also is one of the greenest urban neighboroods full of pocket parks and flowering trees.

A great place to stay for those who love city neighborhoods, walking, cycling, and great urban parks.
Note: must love cats and futons

  • This was a great place to stay. Jackie was super accommodating and key pickup was really easy. Superb location, close to lots of restaurants, Stanley Park, and more. The list of touristy things to do was great; they also have a huge pile of brochures on things to do. We went to the comedy club they recommended and had a great time. As they mention, street parking is really tricky in their neighborhood (it is all over Vancouver) but there is some free street parking along Beach Ave (take Broughton street southwest towards the water). The kitties are very friendly; the calico is very social so if you aren't into cats she might be a little too much. We would definitely stay here again and recommend them for a quick, affordable stay in a great location.

  • angie & jackie were really organized! their home is clean and beautiful, they provided fresh towels, clean sheets, extra toiletries, and a full detailed outline of restaurants and activities. the room was really hot, so we had to keep the window open. it was noisy outside most of the night, which wasn't terrible but definitely part of the experience. also, if you are looking for a big soft bed, this is not a good choice for you. the well dressed ikea futon was lumpy and awkward for my boyfriend and i. all in all: an okay experience, i will probably try a different place next time i'm in vancouver, but we really appreciated how clean and pretty the place was! and its true: the cats are really cute!!!

    Response from Angie & Jackie:

I'm sorry you were disappointed with the bed. However, it is very clear on our profile that it is a futon with a foam mattress, not a "real bed" for which we have received numerous positive reviews. There is a fan in the room to keep it cool, and we provide ear plugs incase there is any outside noise from having the window open. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Angie and Jackie were terrific! Very good with communicating with me before I arrived. They were welcoming and lovely when I arrived. The private room is quite nice and Angie and Jackie provide a helpful list of restaurants, bars, and sites to see, along with maps and small toiletries. Exceptional hosts in a great location!

  • Great spot in the beautiful city of Vancouver! The apartment of Angie & Jackie is located in West End - a top location, because you are in the middle of down town and a lot of sight seeing is on walking distance.
Angie and Jackie have a nice air-bnb room with everything you need in it; even a list of sight-seeing recommendations, we used a lot! We didn't hang out with them much, but I can tell they are easy going and very open to share their space with you!

  • My stay with Angie and Jackie was wonderfully calm and restfull. Their home is welcoming and the two cats are delightfull and fun. Fabulas location.

  • This was my first airbnb experience and it couldn't have worked out better. The location was perfect and I was able to walk everywhere. I never got to meet Jackie but Angie was friendly and helpful and I felt very comfortable in their home. And it was nice having a warm welcome from the cats every time I walked in the door. I would definitely ask to stay again when I'm back in Vancouver.

  • We had short and pleasant time at Angie's and Jackie's place.Perfect for short time stay. Most of the time we were outside the apartment but everything was in order and ready for us.They let us leave our stuff before we checked in because we arrived bit earlier.Bed was not most comfortable for two persons, bit too hot in the room so we had to have window most of the night open.Downside of having window open is that is close to building entrance so there is some noise coming from people entering building.Overall we would recommend this place for occasional traveler to Vancouver.
    Thank you Angie and Jackie.

  • Another fantastic stay with Angie and Jackie! As before, we met both Angie and Jackie and they were as kind and considerate as everyone before has noted! The cats are friendly and we'll miss them both. Location couldn't be better for exploring all of Vancouver!

  • We were there only overnight but all the arrangements worked out great. The space was lovely. I only met Jackie, but she was very nice...helpful and welcoming. Great location.

About
HELLO! Thanks for visiting our profile. I assume you are doing this because a) you may stay with us or b) we may stay with you. So, here is a run down of us: ANGIE: Angie is a 29 year old youth healthcare worker, who enjoys an ice cold beer and comedy. She has an inappropriate & dark sense of humour. She enjoys video games, Bioshock, Battlefield etc. She plays guitar and drums. She works a wacky schedule (12 hour graveyard shifts mixed with very early morning shifts) so you may not see her all that often. JACKIE: Jackie is 30 years old and works in mental health as well as at a local pub. She enjoys running and being social. She likes to knit, bike or spend the day at the beach. She is very knowledgeable about the city and can tell you call the cool places to hang out. We both love watching Game of Thrones, and Walking Dead. We can occasionally nerd out over a game of Magic the Gathering, or laze about reading Reddit for hours. We have been doing AirBnB for a while now and have many cool people, and have really been enjoying it. We recently were on the other end of AirBnB while on a road down to California and we had a great time. It really made us appreciate what is needed in order to be great hosts. :) We highly suggest filling out your profile entirely, and providing a photo before contacting us as we have done the same for you. We would love to have you stay with us, please send us a message if you have ANY questions, we promise that we won't bite (neither will our cats)!
