This is simply a great apartment in the real heart of the famous Williamsburg, Brooklyn, "11211" Your room is only a few blocks away from the L, the G AND the J/M/Z trains in a safe neighborhood in a historic building surrounded by cool places to eat and nice shops and walking around. You are just one stop from Manhattan! This is the Williamsburg that made Brooklyn a global destination.
There will be clean sheets/pillowcases and towels, wifi etc of course and the room will be clean and cozy, wood floors and a tin ceiling. There are bureaus' to put your clothes away and a coat hangers to hang your jacket and what not. There are maps and guidebooks from other travelers and even a hair dryer and international power adapter.
You probably wont see me that much as I spend most of the day and evening at my artist studio across town. I often work late, so you will have a lot of privacy if that is what you like.
I'm easy to reach by text or phone though if you have any questions, and of course Ill be there in the mornings for a coffee at least before I go out. Use of the rest of the apartment etc- If you need anything else in particular, just let me know before you arrive. I recently picked up a pay-as-you go phone, so if you need a phone while visiting you may borrow it and charge it up.
The apartment is a two bedroom, with a bathroom, kitchen and living room- and a small balcony/ fire escape. I sleep in one of the bedrooms you would be staying in the other room on the other side of the living room so its very insulated from each other sound wise. Your room is a real room in a real apartment, with a real bed and proper door that closes and even some nice furniture from my Grandmother. (I need to update the photos on that- but they are nice).
The apartment is well lit and warm. It is on the corner of the building with lots of windows, and has a cozy living room and highly functioning, if not spacious kitchen. The living room also doubles as a dining room- but you can also eat in the kitchen on a long bar. There are a lot of plants and books and records and a tidy but eccentric design style. I also have a cat who is totally sweet- but if you are very allergic to cats, keep that in mind. If you want to smoke i have a fire escape. This balcony is actually my favorite thing. I can spend all day just sitting there watching all the people go by.
Your room will have a large double-sized bed, some small shelves and a nice table where you can work. Its big enough for two people to fit comfortably. It also has a lovely double window looking out onto the street. If you come in the spring the street will probably be in bloom. The place is a 5 minute walk to the river park and flea market, and 5 minutes to McCarren Park and the farmers market in the other direction. The photos show it occupied, all the shelves will be cleared off before you arrive. I might even have redone the floors by then!
The neighborhood is extremely vibrant, most of the cool bars are within a few blocks distance, but you are far enough away from the madness on Bedford ave that it doesn't feel like a tourist trap. Its a real neighborhood and I know my neighbors. Its also extremely safe. I can come home at 3am any night of the week without having to worry about it. The L train in particular is very fast and runs all night long between here and Manhattan ( Its only one stop away.) . You can also get the J and G- There is a reason why everyone wants to visit this neighborhood- you'll find out why as soon as you arrive.
Beyond the convenient location, ( one-stop to lower Manhattan (or 20 minute walk over the bridge)- my corner of Brooklyn is widely considered the foodie capital of the world. Less than even a block from my doorstep are some of the most exciting and well respected places to eat and drink anywhere. There are a huge variety of amazing places to eat without even having to walk for more than a minute or two. I am part of the farm to table food scene, (I make wine on the side upstate ) so can give you lots of recommendations. There are also a million thrift stores and cafes- all the stuff that makes Brooklyn famous...
I guess that's it.
Looking forward to meeting you!

Location of the apartment is very good, close to the L train Bedford Station and minutes away from Manhattan. The room is big enough with a nice desk and good storage space.
Raphael, the host, was always ready to answer my questions and very easy to reach.
I was quite disappointed by the cleaning standards of the apartment in general and linen provided was stained. Leaving that aside, good place and host.
Perfect location! Super central & vibrant. Raphael was very welcoming and always available if needed. The apartment is as advertised and Hurricane, the cat, is a cutie pie.
It was an incredible stay at Raphael's appartment. He is a very welcoming man. Furthermore, he left a week and a half, then I could have the flat for myself :) and I had to take care of Hurricane, the cat who became my best friend. The neighborhood is awesome with fantastic, shops and restaurants. L train is very close. Thanks Raphael ! You made me <3 NY much more!
Raphael's apartment is in an amazing location and he has set things up so it's easy to collect keys and so forth. I hardly saw Raphael but he was friendly and kind when I did. This place is good value compared to other places and the bed is comfortable BUT if you don't like cats or have allergies to them, this is not the place for you. Hurricane is quite an affectionate cat.
I stayed at Rafael's apartment for two nights and felt that I really got a true flavour of Williamsburg. I was out most of the time I was there so I only met Rafael briefly, however he is a very friendly and accomodating host and gave some great foodie recommendations. The apartment is quite quirky, in that it's a very old building and the only sink is in the kitchen, however I really enjoyed my stay there. It's an amazing location too - right in the heart of things. It did get a bit hot, so I would recommend getting another fan for the room if possible, but it was still very comfortable. And the cat is super cute!
The host was very accommodating, great location.
If you want to visit Manhattan, you’re about twenty five minutes (walk+subway) which is rare for this price. The downside are the two square meters of the bathroom (shared by the shower and the water closet), and the lack of sink there, only in the kitchen. This apartment could be a real bargain with a little refreshment, bedroom electrics and front door locker first.
The room is nice and has plenty space for one. The neighborhood is great, specially for the restaurants and clubs around. The room does not have air conditioner, but a ventilator was enough. Raphael is very helpful.
Raphael is a chilled out host and his place is lovely. Excellent location and a bright, spacious room. Awesome cat too!
Great location, really cool flat and lovely cat. Room did get pretty hot despite having a fan on but the balcony was a nice little spot to sit and get fresh air.
