The space

This is a fully self contained 2 bedroom apartment, centrally located in the lovely village of Port Douglas, North Queensland. There is off street parking and a pool within the complex. The apartment is tastefully furnished and available with just a few days notice. It is in a small quiet block of 8, usually inhabited by locals. This is not a holiday resort but the apartment is very comfortable and very close to everything in the village.
Just a 3 minute walk to the beautiful 4 Mile Beach and a 5 minute stroll to the centre of the village. Port Douglas has great restaurants and shopping and a laid back cafe scene. The beach is fabulous and a good 4 mile walk in the mornings!!

Interaction with guests

This is a privately owned holiday apartment, no corporate agents here. I live 'off site' but am available 24/7 via, phone, text, or email for any issues. I can be 'on site' if necessary, in as little as 30 minutes. I like to give guests their space and will only attend at the apartment during your stay if you need assistance with an issue. Personal service and the space to enjoy your holiday.

The neighborhood

The apartment is just a 3 minute walk to the beautiful 4 Mile Beach and a 5 minute stroll to the centre of the village.

Port Douglas has great restaurants and shopping and a laid back cafe scene. The beach is fabulous for lazing around for the day and a good 4 mile walk in the mornings!!

If it is adventure you are seeking, Port Douglas is one of the closest ports to the Great Barrier Reef and people from all over the world come here to experience one of the Wonders of the World. Diving, fishing, swimming, hiking or just lounging around, this is the place to be for that Great Barrier Reef experience. The Marina Precinct is just a 5 minute walk to the end of the street.

Drive yourself or take one of the day tours to the Daintree Rainforest, another spectacular 'Must see' in this area.

Cairns and it's world class attractions are also within reach, just over an hour to drive yourself or choose one of the many day tours to Skyrail and Kuranda. Port Douglas is the perfect base.

Getting around

Local Shuttle bus stops at the bus stop on the corner adjacent to the building. Sunpalm Transport airport shuttle will drop off/pick up at the apartment. Most tour companies will pick up either at the apartment or across the road at the Peppers Beach Club. The Marina, Macrossan Street and Fourmile Beach are all within walking distance, 5 minutes.
Off street undercover parking is available on-site.

Other things to note

Although small children are welcome, no cot or highchair are provided in the apartment. A local baby hire company does provide these, delivered after arrival, if you need them. You can find their details online.

Children under 12 years are to be supervised by an adult when swimming in the pool.

No cleaning fee is charged, however, on departure, the apartment must be left neat and tidy and all of your rubbish removed to the outside council bin. Please leave the apartment as you find it. A cleaning fee of $100AUD will be charged if property not left neat and tidy.

This is a residential apartment block and noise should be kept to a minimum late at night,
please consider the neighbours after 11pm.

Convenient Smoking sitting area outside the back door of the apartment on the small patio. No smoking in the apartment please. A cleaning fee will be charged if extra cleaning is required to remove the smell of tobacco. Please consider guests who come after you leave.

Julie and the Castaways was a fantastic experience. She is located a block away from all the restaurants and experiences. A short 5-10 min walk to the wharf / marina. 5 min to 4 Mile Beach and the patrolled area. She went above and beyond to secure airport transfers. The provided fruit, milk, tea, and wine was much appreciated. A tip: you can drive the Daintree yourself. Check with the Port Douglas Motel for car hire - good rates, good service, flexible hours, and clean cars. Would 100% recommend and stay with Julie if back in the area.

Had a great stay in Julie's apartment. Very close to main strip of port Douglas only a 2 min walk. Was easy process to check in and out. Great welcome gift which was a nice touch. Would stay again. Julie was responsive at all times! Thanks again Julie

Awesome place to stay. Julie's place is very welcoming and lovely. I especially enjoyed finding the bottle of bubbly in the fridge as well as some snacks.

Well-furnished and well-maintained home, very clean, great location. Close to the shops and beach. Julie is helpful and responds promptly. Aircon in the living room only, preset at a fixed temperature without remote control. I found the beds too firm. Everything I needed for a comfortable stay were there: laundry detergent, pots and plates, microwave oven, fridge.

Thank you for your feedback Charlene. The large airconditioning unit, installed in the open plan living area, is more than enough to keep the apartment at a comfortably, cool temperature during the summer months. It is a modern top of the range unit that is preset at the manufacturers recommended temperature (22 C). The same setting as shopping centres and supermarkets. The aircon is preset to prevent guests from trying to achieve the impossible and that is to get a room down to 14 C in a tropical climate. It will never happen, it just causes an aircon unit to run continuously, inefficiently, with no result.....other than higher nightly room rates to cover the energy costs. The planet needs us all to be respectful of it's resources Charlene and if you find a remote in a room somewhere on your travels....leave the temperature as set and do the planet a favour.

Thanks to Julie for allowing us to stay at her apartment in Port Douglas Let's start with communication . 100% accurate and full of detail Julie always replied to any of my questions regardless of how trivial my questions were, for that I Thankyou The wonderful plate of fruit& chocolates left in fridge were a nice touch The apartment was exactly as described per Airbnb It was spotless with plenty of linen available Instructions were left everywhere in apartment and easy to follow Deb and I are from Melbourne and we were impressed . My Japanese partner was so impressed that he was going to return to Japan and brag about the apartment and of course Port Douglas Julie I cannot Thankyou enough We would recommend this apartment 100% Angela
