Private spacious room with double bed (extra person can stay on futon), shared bathroom etc...we welcome anyone wishing to spend some quiet relaxing time in beautiful Niseko-Hokkaido's world famous powder snow capital. There's an unofficial 2 person max guest no., but ask us about extras - under certain circumstances more guests may be able to stay.
We live very close to the mountains -perfect to enjoy nature, skiing or snowboarding, onsens ( selection of natural hotsprings 5-10mins walk), hiking, golf, cycling etc...or just hanging out in the countryside.
You're welcome to make use of sports/outdoor equipment /BBQ /bikes.
Kitchen can be used and in most cases we'd sort you out with something for breakfast.
There are many natural hotsprings within 10-15mins walk, a few restaurants, no shops really...we'll send you more details once a booking is made.
Public transport stops very close by, but the service is a little sporadic. To fully enjoy the area, especially in winter , we suggest considering renting a car (let me know if you need assistance with that).
John and Atsuko were the best hosts you can think of! They dropped us off at places, fed us breakfast, gave us the best runs recommendations and shared many interesting conversations. Get prepared to be an Angry birds champion to face Techen, their 6 year old.
House is warm and actually a walking distance from annapuri if you don't mind the walk up with your gear for 10-15min. There is a few very nice restaurants in the walking distance as well. Nice to be away from the craziness of Hirafu but if you want to get there there is a free connecting bus from annapuri.
We had a wonderful time in Japan thanks to John and his family! Easy going and great local knowledge. Many thanks!
John and his family were very sweet and accommodating. The room was spacious and WARM, and the bed was the most comfortable we've had in Japan. You will definitely want your own car, the house is not walking distance from anything. The neighborhood is difficult to navigate in winter. Even with a map, address, and an English Garmin navigation unit, we needed turn-by-turn directions to find it, so ask for these in advance (or follow John after work). Annupuri is SUPER close, but eating options are few and social options are almost nil. This is a great place to hole up and chill after a long day on the slopes.
John, Atsuko and Te-chan made our Niseko-stay very easy, comfortable and interesting. We felt very welcome in their home and enjoyed every day.
John was a great local asset, helping us with all kinds of bookings, translation and even showed us some great powder lines.
We can highly recommend them as hosts for a Japanese/Aussie home stay.
Thank you for your hospitality!

"quiet and relaxing" that is 100% true . If you looking for this kind of place, that one is perfect. Also John was super helpful with all info about travel, direction.. etc . Simple accommodation but if you looking for Family atmosphere Johns wife and son will give you that all ! we really enjoyed NIsseko and John's place.
Room perfect for 2 ( we have been 3 but still was ok). Also good to have a car because activities, restaurants etc are not in the walking distance.
John and his family were extraordinary hosts! They strived to include me in family outings to local community social gatherings and prepared an authentic home cooked Japanese meal for me one evening. John even spent a morning guiding me to some great mountain powder spots! Overall the family was very welcoming and provided some great tips for making my ski stay in Niseko an enjoyable one! Thank you!
We had a wonderful time in Niseko. We really appreciate John and his wife's hospitality and local knowledge which made our short holiday all the better. The perfect place for a quiet relaxing home stay.
We could not of had such an amazing trip to Japan without John and his family. His knowledge of the culture, area, and skiing was so helpful during our time in Niseko. He and his family made us feel very welcome in their home and shared authentic Japanese culture with us that we would not have experienced on our own.
