Private spacious room with double bed (extra person can stay on futon), shared bathroom etc...we welcome anyone wishing to spend some quiet relaxing time in beautiful Niseko-Hokkaido's world famous powder snow capital. There's an unofficial 2 person max guest no., but ask us about extras - under certain circumstances more guests may be able to stay.
We live very close to the mountains -perfect to enjoy nature, skiing or snowboarding, onsens ( selection of natural hotsprings 5-10mins walk), hiking, golf, cycling etc...or just hanging out in the countryside.
Kitchen can be used and in most cases we provide you out with something for breakfast.
There are many natural hotsprings within 10-15mins walk, a few restaurants, no shops really...we'll send you more details once a booking is made.
Public transport stops very close by, but the service is a little sporadic. To fully enjoy the area, especially in winter , you'll need to rent a car.
We're pretty easy going. Smokers outside. In winter you're more than welcome to help me shovel snow! Shoes off inside. Clean up after yourself.
Had a great stay with John and family. Lovely people and lovely house right in the snow, great onsens 1 min down the road and a short 15 min drive to Niseko and Grand Hirafu. They even went true BnB style and made us breakfast! Would definitely recommend.
My wife and I loved our stay. Our bedroom was very comfortable (especially the big fluffy down comforter!), and had plenty of space for all of our gear. John and his family were welcoming and very helpful with giving us recommendations on where to ski and eat. John cooked up great breakfasts everyday, which we miss already.
John and his family were very kind hosts. His description of his home and it's location are very accurate - he lives in a beautiful area. We rented a car from someone he connected us with, and it definitely enhanced our experience in Niseko. We are grateful for John's advice as I was planning our trip to Hokkaido, many thanks! I would highly recommend this accommodation.
The plumbing at his home is dated and the toilet had an unique odor - my husband didn't mind the smell, but I found it quite unpleasant. Nevertheless, a great stay.
John is a very chill and helpful guy. He was instrumental in giving us tips and helping us acquire an affordable rental vehicle. His family is very nice. Breakfast was good each morning and the family is very accommodating for when we wanted to use the kitchen.
The space downstairs is adequate but tight for 3 people. The toilet was malfunctioning so it took some extra work to operate, and it made the downstairs (the guest room is downstairs) smell a bit. Overall we had a great experience.
We had a lovely couple of nights stay in the home of John, Atsuko and Te-chan. The weather was ferocious but the hospitality of the Simon family made us feel most welcome and warm. As other guests have noted the room was very comfortable and especially the bed.
Location-wise, it is within walking distance of at least one onsen and a couple of hotel eating options, as well as Niseko Annupuri and Moiwa resorts. However, having a car is essential for getting to the property and also around the area, and for less than 5000yen for a couple of days can be picked up near Chitose airport.
We cannot thank John and his family enough for the warm welcome, tasty breakfasts, local guidance and good chats. Not to mention helping immensely by clearing snow from around our car, to enable us to park at their place and move it when we needed. Will definitely be back, hopefully later this season or in the contrast of summer.
John and Atsuko were the best hosts you can think of! They dropped us off at places, fed us breakfast, gave us the best runs recommendations and shared many interesting conversations. Get prepared to be an Angry birds champion to face Techen, their 6 year old.
House is warm and actually a walking distance from annapuri if you don't mind the walk up with your gear for 10-15min. There is a few very nice restaurants in the walking distance as well. Nice to be away from the craziness of Hirafu but if you want to get there there is a free connecting bus from annapuri.
John and his family was very welcoming. We had a fantastic time staying with them. Very helpful in showing us around and helping us rent a car, book other accommodation and other things where knowing the language is an advantage. I would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet place to stay with a homey feel.
I live with my wife and son close to Niseko's ski areas where I like to spend as much time as possible during the winter months.
Interests -wide and varied.
