Delightful 1 bedroom / 1 bath home, with large outdoor balcony on quiet path away from traffic, located in Penestenan, Ubud.

The Space

In true Balinese style, half of the living space is outside on the covered second-story balcony including kitchen, dining table/desk and lounge.

The home includes a large, airy bedroom with vaulted ceiling, queen-sized bed with mosquito net, reading light (this isn’t standard in Balinese hotels!), speakers to plug in your Ipod and WIFI. The bathroom is large with a separate recessed shower so your feet won’t get wet (many homes have “wet” showers and the water is on the floor). Fully equipped kitchen with 2-burner gas range, blender, rice cooker, toaster oven, electric kettle, refrigerator, pots/pans, dishes and cutlery.

I will be out of town, so not available in person (only by email). Jiwa, my Balinese landlord, will be available and will clean the house twice a week, pick up and drop off your laundry and drive you by moped into Central Ubud for only $1USD! Jiwa also rents out motorbikes for 50,000/day ($5) or 550,000/month ($55).

This is a private home and you will have access to the entire house, including bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. There are no shared features, beyond the gate and garden (there is another tenant downstairs in this 2-unit home).

Located in Penestanan Village, the most desirable expat neighborhood in Ubud due to rice paddy fields, multiple footpaths (no car traffic), restaurants, spas and yoga studio. Central Ubud is 2 kilometers away, and just a 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk. Major attractions in Penestanan include Intuitive Flow Yoga, Alchemy (raw food restaurant) and Sari Organik. There is a taxi stand just a 2-minute walk away.

My home is located on a quiet footpath (only accessible by moped, bicycle or foot) and a 2-minute walk to the main road in Penestanan Kelod. Most nights you can hear Gamelan music from the village, and you will always fall asleep to frogs croaking and insects humming.

Ubud is a popular tourist destination, and as such there is intermittent construction in the area. Construction occurs during the day time, when you are likely to be out and about. Please be assured you will have sweet dreams during the quiet evenings.

  • Anne and Jiwa (the landlord) made my stay very special. First of all I really enjoyed and loved Annes House, I felt like home from the first minute. Anne was providing me with a lot of useful information and recommendations, it was a great help.
I especially enjoyed the Intuitive Yoga classes at Linda, and also the very helpful treatments at the Ayurvedic clinic. If I ever needed anything Jiwe helped me right away.
When I have the chance to come back to Ubud, to stay at Annes house will be my first priority.
I can thank you enough Anne, to let me stay in your home.

  • Anne and her place were great. Anne left so much great info about where to eat and what to do in a book as well as an email. Here place was small but perfect. Very clean and nicely decorated. I loved making breakfast in the morning and sitting on the patio. We love the Penestenan area, a nice change from downtown Ubud and not to far away. There are cheap motorbikes to rent at a few place in Penestenan. I would definitely stay here again. Thanks Anne!

  • I loved Anne's house. It's a very cozy and comfortable space. I had everything that I needed for life and even more. I was really feeling like a Princess on the bed and had good dreams. I liked that the house has a balcony with kitchen where I could cook sometimes, to meditate or just lie on the couch watching stars on the Sky. There is a hotel near Anne's house where I could swim in the clean pool and sunbathe for small fee. Landlord Jiva and his wife were very friendly and they were ready to help with any questions always. They care about cleanliness in the house and around it, and every day I could enjoy of aroma incense. I was feeling at home. I am grateful to Anne for her care and attention and her advices about good places in Bali! I hope to back again sometime!

  • We truly appreciated Annes home and the welcoming atmosphere she created despite traveling - she made us feel very at home.
We had a great start at our Bali stay at Annes place!

There is some construction work going on around Annes apartment - it was sometimes a little noisy.

We recommend Anne and her friendly landlord Jiwas place in Penestenan.

    Response from Anne:

Maria, so glad you enjoyed your stay in my sweet little home. Apologies about the construction. Fortunately, it's only during the day time so your evenings should have been very peaceful. Construction should be completed in February.

  • We had such a lovely stay at Anne's- highly recommended. The place is located in a lovely area in ubud, very easy to find, and Anne is very easy to reach and is quick with responses. Her place was one of the few we came across where the place itself was in fact even better in person than in the pictures. Comfy bed, beautiful porch with chaise lounge to sit and drink coffee on, and a full kitchen with all the amenities.

We had an excellent stay here, would love to return someday, and found it to be our favorite airbnb in Ubud.

    Thanks Anne!

  • I really enjoyed my time at Annie's place. It is light and airy, and being on the first floor gives you a view of the surrounding area. It had everything i needed, and was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The generous terrace was a lovely place to meditate and do yoga in the morning as the world woke up. Her landlord Jiwa is a very kind man and incredibly helpful with anything I needed like local information, laundry and giving me a lift into town. Penestanan is only 5 min from Ubud but is much more tranquil, while still having good local and organic restaurants and cafes. I would recommend her place to anyone.

  • Anne's flat is perfectly located, only a short walk into Ubud itself.
Even though we haven't met Anne has been helpful from the start, with my use of air bnb for the first time to answering any questions I had, as well as providing information on the region.
Anne's place also has a beautiful space to do yoga on the balcony in the morning if you want to.
Her landlord Jiwa also helped arrange a scooter for my trip around the island.

I would recommend Anne's place to anyone.

  • Annie's place is exactly what my wife and I were looking for. Set in the rice paddies 5 mins by scooter from central Ubud, Annie's top floor flat was a good size, spotlessly clean with a very comfortable 4 poster bed. There are plenty of shops, restaurants, cafes and even a supermarket nearby so we were able to get to whatever we needed. Annie's landlord was super friendly as well and exceptionally helpful, arranging laundry, a scooter, an onward taxi from Ubud and generally with keeping the flat clean. All in all I couldn't recommend Annie's fire highly.
